I did the baking soda method after watching another video and a tiny bit of residue was removed. Then I came across your video and did the dryer sheet method. WOW!! It worked and my iron smells lovely. Thanks a bunch.
I know this is an old post, but just had to say thank you for doing the video. I am in Australia and we don't have dryer sheets like the one you used, but I did have a Mr Clean sponge. I wet it and rubbed the hot iron over it a few times and most of the gunk came off the iron. I wet the sponge again and it all came off after the second go. So Happy! I think the gunk on my iron came from ironing out the creases on a silk top I bought for a wedding. I will be sending the silk top to the dry cleaners as I didn't enjoy having to iron it and I don't want to mess up my iron again.
I got some from one of my supermarkets. I just can’t remember if it was Coles, IGA or Woolworths so not super helpful, but it’s a start. They’re Fluffy brand, blue box with the yellow duckling.
I have always cleaned my iron when cold in the kitchen with an SOS pad I wet and it will take everything off and then whip with a clean wet cloth. Works great, cheap solution and I always have a box on hand in my house. This is what my mom used in the 50s and 60s.
How timely this is!! I just got some plastic on my iron and was wondering the best way to get it off. I guess a trip to the laundry room should work! Thanks so much.
Yes like all your videos! Have had a trouble time finding something to clean my iron with! After watching your video seems that the simple way works best! Thanks again for being back and all you do for us! Have a wonderful day!
Awesome Video once again, I am your loyal fan! I tried to solve this problem by using wax candle but with limited success. Thank you suggesting dryer sheets. I am going to try this instance! Thank you for all your Hard work! Praise Ye Be!
My problem is vinyl that accidentally melted on my iron, not sure if this will work the same, but I we definitely try the dry sheets. Thank you Sara! 💚
I once had vinyl melted on my mom's iron years ago. Thought she would ground me forever! My mom just laughed and said she did the same thing once and to wait a while. About a week later we chipped/peeled the vinyl off. Not sure if the timing had anything to do with it or if vinyl comes in different types that might make a difference. Oh, and afterwards I had to iron the crap out of a bolt of muslin until Mom was satisfied that it was safe to use the iron on clothes. Stupid girl scout project wasn't worth all that ironing!
When using the dritzs iron cleaner Do you have to plug in the iron to be able to clean the iron or can you clean the iron with the iron not plugged in and also I’m new to clean by iron so how would you clean my iron for beginners
Many iron cleaning products cant be used on an iron with a non stick sole plate, a weird thing I saw that really works is paracetamol, honestly, just heat the iron, grip a paracetamol tablet in a damp cloth, run it on the sole plate & the burnt on crud just melts Away.
Yes my rowenta dud exactly the same thing...leaked out of warranty haha called and they the company didn't try to help in any way all done with that company ....just use it as dry like you but it get scorched alot don't kow how to remedy that .....but thank you as,always for any of your advice ,stay well dear
I had to get rid of 2 of my 4 Rowenta irons! Initially I used them as steam irons until they leaked, then I used them for heat only. 1 iron sparked when I plugged it in and then the other must of had a short internally and the cord would get hot when I "jiggled" the cord. I felt this was a dangerous situation. So out in the trash went 2 irons. Fingers crossed for the other 2 Rowenta irons that I still have. I don't have much trust in the Rowenta irons. I'm going to buy a different and cheaper brand next.
C LOMBARD I have a Rowenta but always use the one made by Shark. I have had it for years and no leakage. Clean with vinegar on a soft rag after heating iron. Mine is as smooth and shiny as it looked coming out of the box from the store shelf and over 10 years old! Works great!
@@TheJudeJane Hi! Thanks for the recommendation for the Shark. I may buy it and keep the 2 Rowentas for strictly back ups! Congrats on owning an iron for over 10 years! I hope I can do the same!

Great video! I use the magic eraser but you have to scrub it and use the mit helps protect you hand.
Thanks again for the tips.
Vinegar on paper towel or cotton rag. Heat iron and move it across the paper towel or rag. Voila! Clean as a whistle!
Yaaassssss....the dryer sheet worked. THANK YOU!!!!
If you don't have any of the featured products on hand, run your iron over a piece of wax paper, it works really well in a pinch.
Thank you...didn't know about these other methods (ie dryer sheets etc).
Impressive... I'm definitely going to try the dryer sheet method.
Thank You !! 👍👍 This review was very helpful. Keep bringing, love it. Great job . 😊
