Thank you. I’ve been looking for a video on how to use scotch guard. for handbags. Did you use it on the fabric before you make the bag or after the bag is assembled? If afterwards, what do you use to cover the zipper, snaps etc?
You say in video "you might want to spray bags" Do you spray your Bags that you are selling??? Also I like the deer fabric do you know the mfg and where you bought, info?? Love all of your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
If I remember, I do it on the pieces once they've been attached to interfacing but before I start construction. It makes it easier to get all of the piece.
That's a good question! Have you watched the odicoat video? sewsweetness.com/2019/02/video-how-to-use-odicoat-to-make-your-fabric-waterproof.html?v=8e3eb2c69a18 I've only used scotchguard on a finished product, therefore only the exterior. Now you've got me thinking that I want to try it on all pieces before construction and compare the water repellent nature of both!
The bag at the beginning (red and blue) is the Sublime bag. The smaller wallet is the Day Trip cellphone wallet and that pattern is only available in the set of minikins season two. You can find these on www.sewsweetness.com
It may be better to spray the material before making your bag... than using it on a bag unless its completely cloth but most bags have vynil , leather or cork for trim. So spray your material first..thenn make your bag ....
Really shocked that you are recommending a product that is made with environmentally persistent chemicals, albeit no longer C-8. So incredibly irresponsible. There are ways to remove stains, but there is no way to get these chemicals out of our environment once they are there.
Thanks for sharing. Scotch-ward also has a heavy duty version that I have used for outdoor cushions and camping equipment.
I Scotch Guard all bags, purses and totes. It makes spot cleaning very easy. Thanks for this video Sara!
Have u tried it on a bag/purse made of coated canvas?
@@TonyaJones00 Sorry I haven't. Coated canvas is already coated with a wax or resin, no need to use Scotch Guard.
C LOMBARD Oh..ok. I didn't know that. I have a new purse coming and figured i may need to do this. Thanks for replying!!
The Scotch Guard is used after the purse is made?
@@marthahumphrey3849 Yes. That is how I use it. HTH

Mines called “UV 3”same thing as Scotch guard I think.
What pattern/tutorial is the bag?
Should this be used after the project has been made?

Been doing this for years
What is the difference between Scotchquard and Odicoat?

I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING TOO.
I would think it would be best to add scotch guard to the fabrics before making your bags to keep off zippers, vinyl or leather?
