Aussie here, Quintrex catch and release - my latest 16footer has one. Seems like a good idea, but I haven't used it enough to trust it fully.

Question! What’s your opinion on “roll on trailers” ? Seems like they have gone the way of the dinosaurs. My trailer has rollers and is old, my biggest problem is the leaf springs rusting like it’s there job! Is there any way to prevent that or slow it down? Besides fresh a water wash? I would love to get a new float on trailer, but I’m not a rich man.

I Iive in the Northeast so my boat sits for months I fill the tank and treat the fuel with startron and I don’t know if I have water in my fuel what do I look for and how can I fix the problem if there is one

Your boat should have a water separator on it, so it should catch the water and when you service the boat before the season, run the boat once and then change your water separators and shouldn't ever be a problem since you filled the tank and treated the fuel. Plus it's probably so cold out that condensation is way less of an issues, which is where the water comes from, so you shouldn't see a problem

I say every 4-5 years since it’s hydroscopic and absorb water from the air. Should check oil color and see if it’s champagne color. That’s when it should be changed

That's brake fluid. Boat steering is oil based and doesn't absorb moisture.

Don't touch it. It's a closed loop system! Leave it alone.

DO NOT run a ceramic coating through your cooling system. Once it hardens, it will completely clog up all of the cooling jackets and likely destroy your engine.

I agree with you on the fluid not going bad. Even in heavy equipment we never changed hydraulic fluid and those machines where used and abused around the clock. During Covid (2020) I couldn’t find any Seastar fluid there was some on eBay for $50 a quart hard pass for me I can’t stand price gouging. I decided to go with plain old AW32 hydraulic oil and the system worked better than when the boat had the Seastar fluid. The steering felt smoother and more firm. It’s a Baystar system on a mercury 115. What’s your thoughts on using standard hydraulic fluid or ATF?

ATF all day lol especially on smaller engines like that, not that a 115 is a "small" engine, but it doesn't have the torque and stress of a 350 lol ATF all day unless you get into higher horse power, auto-pilot, power steering systems. Then theres a difference with the heat and stress of the system :)
