Have a Suzuki DF150. 99% salt water use. After about 10 years I had water in the lower unit gear oil. I removed it and had it re-sealed at the local dealer. It’s beyond my comfort level.
I just didn't seals on my Yamaha 115 2 stroke 2007 model I went to change the lower unit oil and there was water intrusion so I brought it to mechanic he replaced my prop shaft seal drive shaft seals and gear shifter seal also and he charged me 250 dollars I felt like it was a good price also he put a new water pump impeller also
I check my lower unit oil every 50 hrs or so just to be safe. I’ll change it at 100 hrs which is typically twice a year totaling 200hrs annually.
