    As kids, we're naturally compelled to climb trees, but at a certain point we stop. We get the message that climbing is dangerous or just not socially acceptable.
    Tree climbing is not only an amazing practice for fitness, it's a great way to feel more human.
    This video highlights some natural movement climbing techniques and offers up a few insights on why you should climb a tree...even if it's been a while.
    The key is to find a tree that will accommodate your current ability level. It's shouldn't be a terrifying experience, but exhilarating.
    Make this practice a part of your lifestyle - frequent your local parks, explore often, and find a few trees that will allow you hang and climb at your own level. As always consistency is key for increasing your fitness.

    Very cool! I'm 54 and have just recently started to look at mov nat style training and it's proving to be a lot of fun! Have been doing some martial arts for the past 3 years and bodybuilding type training of and on for past 30 odd years! Some of the moves and techniques are a lot more difficult than bodybuilding exercises and certainly a lot more fun! The best part of mov nat is getting out in the wilderness and using the natural environment as your gym and you can take your top and shoes off as well something you can't do in most gyms! Keep up the good work bro keen to see a lot more.

    Yes, the bruises you get from being in nature (also coming from thorns or anything) are so much fun! I enjoy them a lot ^.^

    This is the most comprehensive channel for skills like this. What are the easier ways to get upon a branch beside the pop up? I spent the last year dedicated to shoulder labrum repairs and I need to be careful for a long time about putting my shoulders into that range of abduction that the pop up requires. Still want to climb stuff! Thanks.

      Thanks for you support, Michael. There's an easier technique to get on top of the branch called the roll up. Search "Bar Roll Up" in my videos for an example. I demonstrate with pronated grip but a supinated (chin-up) grip is even easier. Hope it helps!

    Got back into this aged 44 yrs old. It amazes me especially where I live in London when people as young as 36 say-''I can't do that anymore I'm old''. Old to me is 80 yrs people seem to denigrate themselves at such a young age!

    Insightful video man, I have recently started tree climbing as well. I recommend going barefoot to engage more of the body! It's also easier 😃

      Nice, thank you. Tree climbing is something I feel like everyone should do. It's practical and super fun but society tells us that adults shouldn't do it. Is it important to most people's everyday life - no. It is one of life's simple pleasures though. Being able to hang, swing, and maybe climb up are great tools to have to be more human. Cheers.

    I've been trying to hang and do pullups on my cherry tree. Up to almost 5 and maybe 60 seconds hang! Your video is inspiring! Thanks for that! What kind of tree is your tree? It looks awesome!

    Great video! Do you think it's possible to learn a muscle up on a branch?

    • @StrengthFlowFitness
      @StrengthFlowFitness  5 років тому +5

      Yes, it's possible but maybe not optimal. When learning new skills, it's nice to give yourself the best environment possible. With the muscle up, I think it's easiest to learn on the rings and then transfer the skill to bars and then finally thicker bars and branches. Still training on a strong branch straight away is fine - it's more how you train than where. Best wishes in your training!
