I had my husband do hip squeezes with his legs (kind of just above his knees) because if he tried to use his hands, the pressure was too targeted and hurt. It definitely helped 🙂
So glad I watched this before labor. I felt the switch between wanting pressure on my sacrum at the beginning vs the hip squeeze toward the end. I had a lot of back labor and this saved me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Just had my daughter in June who was facing the sky, so I only had back labor. I didn’t have an epidural and the counter pressure didn’t do much by the end, but it was INCREDIBLE for most of the time.
It’s so funny because I had a posterior baby and my doula kept trying to do counter pressure and I could NOT stand it, I asked her to stop! I feel like the only one who hated it 😆
You are SO good at this!🎉 I hope you can work in patient education where you are. I’m making a playlist of your videos to save for when my son and his wife have a baby. Sometimes a woman doesn’t want to talk about these things with their mother-in-law. At least in my case, I would still be embarrassed to talk so frankly about pooping or how much bleeding etc until after my firstborn. After that, I didn’t feel timid at all about all the amazing changes our body goes through during pregnancy and birth. We were wonderfully made!
We didn't utilize the sacral counter pressure the first time, but during transition (7-10cm), I LOVED the double hip squeeze. I'm 36 weeks and have discussed the sacral pressure for earlier labor with my husband for this go around.
Counterpressure from my doula and my husband was the main thing that got me through the first 30 hours of my 35-hour labor. I had lots of back pain with every contraction and the Hypnobabies techniques I learned were _not_ helpful. (I decided Hypnobabies might be a scam.) The tub was helpful, but I was only allowed to stay in there 3-4 hours and even in there I still wanted the counterpressure. Around 30 hours in I got an epidural because I was so tired and didn't think I could make it through without a nap. (But I also live in a place where most epidurals only last a couple hours, and they generally don't give top-ups for pushing, so it was important to have other options.)
@@mamanursetina he came on his due date so my partner didn't have time to watch this, but it went great, he's perfect:) thank you so much for your whole channel
Great video! I am on the path to becoming a doula and this was such a fantastic video for learning techniques. It was very helpful to understand the why behind the different techniques during different stages
I'm not pregnant nor do I ever want to be but I do enjoy learning about all different things in all subjects. I'm terrified to be a parent. But some of these tips can be good for period pains and cramps.
Knowing the ins and outs of how our bodies work is never a bad thing! I'm 37 weeks pregnant and have been having Braxton Hicks contractions here and there, which feel so much like period cramps that I'm pretty sure I'll definitely be able to take my strategies for managing them into my post-pregnancy life.
Yay! I've been waiting for this video 😃 It's so cool that there's different counter pressure techniques. It sounds like counter pressure really makes the birthing process more bearable, which is a relief 😌. I'm wondering, though, if I have an epidural and the pressure starts to happen in my body. Does it hurt? And will the counter pressure help to relieve some of that pain if it does hurt? This was a great video and was very informative. Thank you so much for making this video! 🙂👍🏻
Fantastic, thank you so much for this short, sweet session. My husband and I had so much fun practicing just now - I will try and let you know how this worked during labor. 💌🥊🍀
I hope to be able to try that but propably won't be able to use whole potential of this in polish hospital... We're still many years in the past when it comes to childbirth here, we can't even request epidural, well we can try ofc but most women don't get it... Scared as heck for the birth part cause I have terribly low pain tollerance but still can't wait to meet my baby when it's over... 😅
This is an excellent video! The double hip squeeze was the only thing that worked for me but it really took the edge off, so I never went into laborlalaland! 😂 But yes, my spouse's arms were aching, so maybe this time we'll try using the scarf.
I don’t know why but when I am having contractions I don’t like to be touched or anyone talking, I feel like I get distracted, and it ends up hurting more than helping, I like to just do my thing on my own; I do enjoy the support though after I give birth letting me sleep and hubby taking care of the baby 😜
Saving this for fiancé to watch when we have a kid someday. We are a few years away, but this information is so helpful. I have been binging baby info for years now, but I always learn something new watching your videos.
I'm sending this to my husband now! Anything that helps with contraction pain at this point will be more than appreciated! It's getting rough!
YES!
Same here! 😂
And here
How did it go?
I had my husband do hip squeezes with his legs (kind of just above his knees) because if he tried to use his hands, the pressure was too targeted and hurt. It definitely helped 🙂
Smart!!
I'm gonna have to remember this and suggest it to my husband. Thanks for the tip!!
This totally works! 7 unmedicated births and this works every time. The best is a water birth plus counter pressure.
Good to know

I also agree with having more than one person to do the counter pressure. My husband and nurse were exhausted after alternating for 6 hours😅
What a stinker!! I had an OP baby too ♥️ congrats! 🎉
Came for the entertaining shorts, stayed for the info from the long videos.
Keep up the good work!! 😎👍
Oh that's amazing to hear. Thank you!
Best video I have seen so far on counter pressure.
It’s so funny because I had a posterior baby and my doula kept trying to do counter pressure and I could NOT stand it, I asked her to stop! I feel like the only one who hated it 😆
I hated it with my first! Quickly (and politely 😉) asked my nurse to stop!!
@@rachvanwinkle1551 I just had my second baby and they all kept trying it and I hated it again this time too!

🙌🏻🙌🏻 teamwork on the counter pressure!
this video couldn’t have better timing, due tomorrow
Eeeek!! Let us know how it goes!

My nurse tried to do this and I told her to get the hell away from me 😂😂😂
39 weeks and 3 Days. Trying to go through all your videos and i would love to say welldone. You really put in work with editing ❤🎉

Aw, thank you!!
Love this one ❤
Im sorry if I take a needle to the back and im still hurting im not talking to the doctor anymore I'd be pissed
Wish they had counter pressure techniques when I had my son 30 years ago
They are so effective!
Imma have 2 maybe 3 support people everyone is taking turns

So I say it doesn’t hurt but it’s uncomfortable if that makes sense. And yes counter pressure would help!
@mamanursetina ahhh, I see. Well, it's good to know it doesn't hurt! 😌
Counter pressure didn’t really help anything for me when I was around 5-6cm 😢 maybe my husband was doing it wrong? Or the pain was just too bad. Idk?

Haven’t even watched this video but I gave birth 2months ago and this was awesomeeee! + being in a hot bath! I made it to 9cm w/o an epidural

So planning on using all of them! Will discuss with my support people ... looks like it gives you a lot of control on processing pain ❤
Counter pressure is the best! Dont start too early because your partner might get tired before the super intense surges
One question: is it safe to do this to a person that has scholiosis and ernia?
Wow amazing techniques to try!! I wish i knew them the first time but id be very happy to give natural birth a second try!!
Amazing, thanks for being here!
Would you recommend counter pressure for moms with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome?
Chat with your provider it might depend on the severity!
Also known as the Gaskin Maneuver???
That’s to resolve a shoulder dystocia. The gaskin maneuver is turning into an all fours position to help release babys arm
3:20 you're welcome
Some people do want to know what types are best when, why it works and all that. I appreciate the shortcut though.
SUCH a good tip! :)
Thanks boo
