Prediction: That land locked spot is just going to eat up the zombie cap over time. Every time a zombie spawns in there, your threat is effectively decreased by one and they have no way to escape. Unless a miner spawns there...
Might be a slow thing coming, but it's going to be a huge benefit overall.

I'm usually against the short shots like machine pistols and SMGs, but considering how quick the zeds move in on you, they seem to be a better option when you're out hunting.
The long reloads/aims on rifles make them a bit less useful against nasties that don't stun unless you're sniping from the shooting gallery.
Really enjoying the series, so much so I think UA-cam is trying to actively irritate me more than usual by not giving me a notification for the new video.
Totally agree heavy SMGs are probably META when moving around the map

Might thicken your own, if not some walls beyond your primary wall, just to slow down those siege ones.
And yeah, I don't see armor being of all that much value - speed is more important, and basically if the zeds are in "chew on my armor" range, you have bigger problems than some kevlar is gonna solve...

Question: why don't you put a wall around parts of the map edge? Or the whole map edge?
The southern entrance to the map seems ripe to wall off. Same with a few of the northwestern paths through the ruins. Wouldn't that funnel the zombies through one path and open up more parts of the map for relative peace?
Or alternatively, make a mini safe zone in the southern portion of the map. Walled off (but unconnected to your main base) you could make an area for long growth time tree sowing.
Pardon if these are dumb ideas. Im not familiar with the zombie mod beyond knowing some special zombies could break through the walls.
Zombies can scale walls and if you corral the zombies in tight spaces they become enraged and move a lot faster and actively attack you rather than wander.
Is this going to be a more long term series, not like a mini-series marathon sort of deal? (I really hope it's long term!!!)

Would a good strategy be to clear a bit of the map of structures? Like to have better line of sight areas when you have to go outside the colony and either west or north?
Yes it would be for the most part, there are negative consequences of doing it though like concentrated contamination

Wouldn't it be better if you could see the outside of the north wall from your bridge too?
I just get a little nervous when the zombies sre crowding there but you need to go around the entire lake and through the ruins to shoot at them
They mostly group up around doors, but once I have moisture pump I can redesign for better lines of sight
Question, what if you walled yourself in and only made a gate when you needed to go out. I know not practical just curious.
Once zombies cluster together they start to get enraged where they will attack doors, move much faster and scale walls. Doing that will likely result in many enraged zombies that scale walls.

Its one of the options in the mods that can be enabled. Additionally if you had walls near the edge of the map zombies that break walls would break them much faster than you could react to the situation I think@@Crowwalker100
It is how Adam vs Everything dealt with ship launch in his first Zombieland mod run in the end - double/triple thick walled the entire base in with no doors so that there wasn't one obvious place for them to congregate around, and then just shot a hole in the wall if he needed to go out.
The settings Rhad has chosen makes that method a fair bit harder to do though because of the difficulty in obtaining the overwhelming firepower that helps make that option viable. Given how many different settings there are there isn't really a true "one way to defend" in this mod (short of a mountain base with zero outside space that is entirely walled in, but then there also wouldn't be any challenge/fun to a run like that)
How are you going to get better shootas?

I cringe every time I see this battery inside the base, surrounded by wooden floor. Someone please tell Rhadamant to move it to safer place.
Zzzzz events aren't specific to a batttery's location
@@Rhadamant Perhaps. But placing all batteries in a ventilated stone room with fire extinguisher in the middle saved my bases numerous times.
16:46 Later you may want to place some art nearby. But when I think about it second time art isn't very effective outside. Still you may check if it will push beauty of area to higher threshold.
