Parrish Smith is one of the most underrated MC's in hip hop history. P had so many ill lines plus he had the dope voice. Mature dude ahead of his time. .
word. one of my favorites from them is the joint. just his voice on there he killed it
Yes really nice with the wordplay. But even more underrated as a producer did all there early hits.
Indeed! P is sooooo nice and he never fully got his props. Didn't drop any wack lines at all.
Nite Tyme that's my nigga
Prodigy always reminded me of PMD.
Erick Sermon's regular talk delivery is mad kinetic, he slows it down on the records. Both versions dope. Parrish always gets props, hard MC.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This has got to be one of the best “Drink Champs” ever... do y’all see who’s in the Room.... Capone & NORE, EPMD, Chi Ali Mysonne and these stories are so dope....
C Roy
Mysonne still look like he'll clap a nigga
Exactly!!!! Real Hip Hop in the room,

Being a dude who was 15 years old in '88, from Long Island with family in Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens Rakim and EPMD and PE were the greatest acts in the world.
58:25 - Erick ..."everybody had their own sound... and we all won"
@culturefreedom89 FACTS
I know I didn't grow up with Nore, but I really appreciate the history he allows us to have. I mean I know I'm only 20 but I really respect hip hop. I love that era of hip hop. From the samples the different rhyme schemes, and everything. And I'm from down south so New Yorkers can kill that because I love and respect where hip hop came from.
Gerald Fleeton 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Gerald Fleeton U a real one bruh
Gerald Fleeton I'm 25 I feel the same way I remember certain songs from Nore but I never listened to him much, but this drink champs is epic and it has me listening to his music
New Yorkers hate dudes from the South,But us Cali dudes been down with y'all since day one and still are😎✊
Hip hop 4eva!! That shit raised me. We do need a universal flag.
EPMD got some crazy stories. This is one entertaining episode.
EPMD are definitely Legends in this. I remember listening to "Strictly Business" on boom boxes at picnics, And cuttin' up "You Got's To Chill" on two turntables. Those were the days my friend.
I'm only 23 and I don't listen to my generation's music and I listen only to real hip hop. Keep our culture alive

Yo I gotta list of real 90s underground hip-hop if you want it b. Just lmk..
The reason I feel in love with hip hop as a kid in the 80’s was because of rakim epmd mc lyte 🙏🏾

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
EPMD was one of the finest Duo's from the Golden Era of Hip Hop.
It's so good to see them back together because they had some real street drama. I'd love too get one more album from them.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
hope for PR and CL we all agree lol
In 1988 I was in 9th grade at Kettering High School in Detroit when the Golden Era (The greatest era in Hip Hop History) was in full gear. BDP, PE, Rakim, Mc Lyte, Eazy E, Too Short, Big Daddy Kane etc. But of all the great albums that came out in 1988 (the greatest year ever in Hip Hop) EPMD's Strictly Business album was to me the best Rap album I had ever heard and got the most play from all the hood niggas and drug dealers in Detroit. From 88 to 92 EPMD was my favorite rap group, and to this day I still cant stop bumping the Strictly Business album. Erick and Parrish Makin Dollars, love yall dudes, the greatest Hip Hop duo of all time 💪 💪 💪
Kamal Lukata what kind of name is Lukata?u congolese or something?
Word Kamal! Couldn't have said it better myself!
yeah mane, dat muhfcka still bump'n
👌💨💨💨
Facts!!
We're about the same age and from the same region. EPMD is the shit. Yo, to this day if me and my mans are in the ride an I put So whatcha saying on, he starts strumming the are guitar to the beat. LOL. 88, man. And those tours back then? FOH! I grew up at the right time.
"Sometimes" is my favorite Nore song of all time!! word!!
mine too... i appreciated when he spit the hook... just because lol
Word i remember bumping that always in high school
EPMD.
Unnatural talent.
The funk, the groove, the lyric, the vibe, all rolled in to one.
With style and class.
A gift to those of us that love this music.
We need EPMD in the new spot setting n giving them their flower box. Nore n DJ Efn definitely grown from this to now. Salute 🔥🔥
Agreed! Need epmd back on drink champs!!!
LEGENDARY! E.P.M.D.
I might be biased BC I'm a Long Island Hip Hop head. But this is 1 of their BEST shows yet. I say that BC of the stories within the stories.
Greatest duo of all time
Drink Champs needs to put a tour together so that fans can show respect and appreciation for the legends.
Hip-Hop needs these legends, don't be ignorant and disregard 35 years of talented artist..
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"I sold crack for one day" is the winning quite from this whole episode.
1:00:00 That rant by E needs to go viral. Erick Sermon should be the president of Hip Hop.
Facts...Thinking beyond the system and then hearing it do something to u soul
Tony L Brown Facts, he had me feeling the love of HIP HOP
Yeah I loved that
You are not lying. Erick Sermon for Hip Hop President!
FACTS YO
87-88 & 95-98 was the best years i ever lived or seen in Hip Hip.
I love that brothers lived long enough to laugh about the old days.
When you said EPMD back in the day it felt like power
And still does
100%
It's shows like this that makes me feel proud of the only person in my family that listens to both EPMD and Noreaga. Oh yes, and Mysonne and Chi Ali too.
If you actually listen to the parts where they speak about hip hop needing some type of union that preserves the factual history of the culture and maintain great care and honor of the the actual pieces of art and their creators without getting into minor differences and so called "beefs", then it feels like this culture we hold dear might just survive intact. IF THERE IS ANY WAY WE CAN SUPPORT THAT AS FANS, im ready.
Ps, great episode!
Questlove been working on that with the Smithsonian I think. He talks about it on his podcast
I'm lovin it when he said NORE set the platform for legendary rappers. I was 14 in 88 so i was listening to all the greatest, but I can't leave out 84 85 86 run dmc LL cool j Beastie Boys
EPMD was always in my cassette player with the big Sony headphones all thru high school. People knew what I was bumping. Great to see them looking as good as they do 30 years later.
I met EPMD in Detroit at Shantinique Records back in 91 after their Business As Usual "CASSETTE TAPE". I was still fucking with the Unfinished Business tape. I was so inclined to start spittin the "Please Listen To My Demo" joint. I still rock that to this day!!
Oh, and "It's my Thing"
R Brown I had that tape when I was 10 classic shit
R Brown Man, I met Epmd in Flint in '91
R Brown I just saw EPMD, rakim, and Run-DMC at chene park a month ago here in Detroit. Shit changed my life. A lot of Hip hop greatness at once
daily?
R Brown on Harper huh? I see you 👀
Yo NORE!!! Don't ever have us waiting that long for an episode again.
Word I was looking for this shit last. I love to put an episode and get Fuckin blazed
facts
Same here.. but this def in my top 5 interview.. “facts”
CHILL you need to relax
LMAO.
This is my favorite Hip Hop duo ever💯Just now seeing this interview, but I'm so glad that I did🎶
#1 Rap Duo in the golden era of hip hop. I even did graffiti on a pair jeans with the EPMD logo down one leg back then in highschool and that day I was the fliest brotha in school. And I had ppl running up asking, what does that mean because they was on what I was on, and all day I had to explain what EPMD stood for.
They need to clear out all these extra dudes.
Yeah. I hate all the standing around but if I were there I'd probably just wanna be close.
Ya NORE gotta tell them dude's to beat it
Dude definitely need to back up!
@@inevitableexpertise1016 Dude definitely act like he want to take a picture
Arguably Drink champs Greatest interview because they dropped so many jewels behind the scene information all revealed without a difficult silence
My favorite rap group of all Time hands down!!!..EPMD!!!!
In 88, a future classic came out like EVERY WEEK. It was crazy.

Dope episode even if I'm 3 years late.
Epmd my favorite
E & P are absolute legends and still my all time fave 2 Man MC team in Hip Hop history period, so many classic joints and albums, they influenced and paved the way for so many and gave the World The Hit Squad and Def Squad. Loved this episode but would have preferred just E & P and the hosts.
Brentwood Strong Island stand up
Appreciation. ...
It's almost as if the younger generation don't want to appreciate the older generation.
Respect...
Everyone to show a little more respect to each generation from old to new and new too old.
I miss that hip-hop era from 84-98, was absolutely some of the best years of my life I love music
As the only white guy in the south listening to these guys back in the day I will say this:
Still better than 99% of the shit being released today. These guys have talent and skill and those are qualities you wont find in most of the artists of today.
NORE got the "I'm media now" glasses on 👓 😂
ToroidalVortexLove corny

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Slow Down Baby !!!
for a lot of us who grew up in the 80s when we saw guys like Rakim, Kane, BDP, Slick Rick, EPMD, Heavy D these guys were like super heroes to us when the videos came on...we never seen anyone who talked like us, dressed like us and said what we talked about every day....I wish Rappers today had that effect on the youth but I think these days everybody is rapping so hip hop has lost its luster as an art....
I MOST CERTAINLY AGREE WITH 100,000% FR FR!
Two of the best to ever do it ✌
Ebony White wat up
So true.
Classic 3 album's off topic

Na separate that's too many stories.
Much needed
Na get cormega on here
Get big daddy kane on here
Chozen know what ? Get Bambadaabaa old ass on here for he die we got questions
Chozen I thought Kane was on there. Maybe I’m trippin
Candice Sejour BamBooty you mean ?
They just dropped the Kane joint
kane been on dis junt awready...that junt was dope
Why don't most Rappers pay more homage to EPMD ?
To me as far as Rap goups are concern. I think EPMD are like the Drum and the Bass. While the drummer brings the rhythm, the bassist brings the groove. A bridge between rhythm and melody, the role of the bass player is to connect the drums with the rest of the band, laying down the music feel and giving harmonic context to the rhythm.
Females like myself would love to see Lil Kim on Drink Champs!!! Queen Latifah and Missy Elliot also!
shit me too as a man
Roxanne Shante, MC Lyte or Yo Yo.
Nah Rah Digga
X - Missy ... she started all this bullshit not hip hop type noise .... Yo.
Didn’t like it then still don’t today.
I bet MC Lyte has a ton of hip hop stories...would love to see her
I really enjoyed this interview. I'm loving this season.
I'm still so inspired by EPMD and this podcast..Keep on keeping on

EPMD got all the hot joints classics!!!!!!
Am i the only that think its dope that when eric sermon speaks he sounds like he rapping? Only a few other rappers do that, krs one is another one...you can tell spitting is in their souls
Yooooo, I was saying the same thing...
Loved this interview. Loved epmd and love drink champs
We need to get us an EPMD movie right now. Some crazy shenanigans 😂
