While I appreciate all of the suggestions for a JMC season of all early game challenges, the reason we aren't planning on doing that right now is twofold. First we actually did a TON of early gen challenges even before the JMC and used up a lot of our best ideas. Second and most importantly those types of videos have consistently underperformed recently and committing to a full season of those videos would be a disaster if that trend continued. I'm sure that most people here in the comments would watch and I really appreciate that, but if we tried this and it failed it may make it even tougher to justify doing an official 3rd season of the JMC.
Don't worry, man! Keep doing your own stuff and we'll wait until the official John and Michael Cip Season 3 coming out. Can't wait to see the new stuff Legends Z-A will bring and the challenges you two will make. Love your vids and can't wait to see more from you!

How about this, have season 3 of the JMC be retro. Only use the 2D games from Gens 1-5. Not having all the modern conveniences we have in modern Pokemon games and systems would make for a lot of difficult and interesting challenges.
Eh, I think their uneven experience in any given gen/region would make it less fair and thus less interesting, though. Playing a new game puts them on equal footing.
@@LuckyBones77That is a good point. That said, it sounds like the main concern Mikey and John have is interest. It's a lot easier to get new viewers to watch (and old viewers to return) when a new game is released because people get hyped about new games.

to be honest, the only reason I'm looking forward to Legends Z-A is all the new challenges and silly videos I know you two will create. I stopped playing pokemon years ago, but watching pokemon videos from both of you brings me a lot of joy, especially when you're together! thank you for all the wonderful content you put your time and energy into making for all of us out here on the internet. ❤

What about in the past spin off games
Sure not as popular as the main games, but there’s so many different game styles (Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, conquest, poke park, etc) that it could be interesting and nostalgic.
But that’s if they’re able if they can find a version that can even use

I'm happy to wait for season 3. I also wanted to share some ideas I had for challenges you could do. One is that you both capture pokemon (possibly in a specific area) then whoever has a pokemon supereffective against the other gets a point. The other idea is that you can essentially do Rock, Paper, Scissors in pokemon with the moves Upper Hand, Mach Punch and Focus Punch so you could do a battle with those rules and see who wins.

I'm glad you guys addressed this since I was wondering when Season 3 would happen. I'm glad to see the train ain't stopping at all, and whenever Season 3 happens, I know you guys will cook up something great
Maybe this could be one of the exhibition videos you do on the JMC channel, or maybe a mini season depending on the length, but you've played bingo a few times, why not do a pokemon variant of Phase 10? It could work like the bingo videos, with the trades being the "cards" you're dealt, and the phases could be something like:
- 2 sets of 3 pokemon of the same type (if you get traded a dual type pokemon, it can only count for one type in 'your' hand/box which you must decide upon first receipt during the hand. For example, if you (John) get traded a Charizard, you would have to choose whether it counts as a fire or flying type while it's in your hand and every time you are traded one during the current hand, but this would only be true for your hand. If Mikey also gets a Charizard, he would also need to choose which it would count for, but not necessarily what you chose.)
- A run of 5 pokemon by consecutive pokedex number (respective to the game you're playing)
- 8 pokemon of one color (by official dex color)
- A set of 4 pokemon starting with the same letter & a run of 4 pokemon by name length
- A odd of 6 pokemon by base stat total (6 pokemon with odd base stat totals)
Whatever other phases you could come up with
To avoid the potential unfairness from past round knowledge, there could be a rule that whatever pokemon you've used for building a phase or clearing your hand, you can't use it to build your phase again for 3 hands, but you can use it to clear your hand after completing your phase. This would not apply to the pokemon you're holding, only those you've set in your phase.
There could also be a 'leader must win' rule: if you're on the last phase, you must clear your hand to win. If you complete the last phase, but your opponent clears their hand first, you must redo the last phase, following the same cooldown rule for the pokemon you've placed in your phase.
Honestly, at least it will be coming back eventually in the future. Keep making content guys ❤
I would like to suggest three things.
One. I'd enjoy seeing you two do "randomize pick your starters then fight" battles as i feel i dont see enough battles between you two. The competition is lovely but id like to see an actual battle more. Just opinion.
A catch competition using a rom hack. For instance (im suggesting something near devilish) "spin the wheel and first to catch the pokemon, or any of its evolutions or a fused form of it in Pokemon infinte fusion wins the round. First to x points"
And finally id enjoy seeing you two race to see who can get the furtherest in pokerouge in a time limit.

I'm literally JUST rewatching the JMC season 1 and 2 as of this video coming out. I'm perfectly patient for the JMC season 3. And also looking forward to the upcoming content!
I think the biggest difference between seasons 1 and 2 is that meanwhile 1 foccused on a large variety of games, 2 was locked to SV. I think that season 3 having both the DLCs and Legends ZA as a working ground puts it in a good middle spot, where it's still in a single generation, but not too repetitive!
You two have amazing chemistry and performance / hosting skills-- I would watch you guys paint a wall, if you made that a video.

Just hearing season 3 is happening was enough for me! These videos remind me of gaming with my friends back in the day before it hurt to stand up too fast
When John started yelling "you stupid seed" I can only imagine him yelling at you, Mr. Growth or however you spell it. Also, you could do a game that goes through the years. Like gen 1 Kanto to maybe ZA by end.
You should get Mickey's toilet trophy and nail it on his toilet forever. Just imagine how loud his screams would be.
I feel like even if you do wait for Legends Z-A the whole "We used up all our best ideas" problem wouldn't really be solved since these games have remained fundamentally the same for decades. So in that sense, it probably doesn't matter too much if you do a new season now or wait for a new game.
Maybe while waiting for a new Pokémon game as well, there could also be challenges you can experiment with for Pokémon fangames
Was thinking something similar, why not do like a "fan game" JMC, or maybe like an exhibition match in a fan game. You can see how it performs, and if it does well, then maybe it could be used. Perhaps Cobblemon could be used? Maybe through the Patreon you could ask members to suggest challenge ideas to get some inspiration?
Challenge ideas you could try that I don't think have been covered:
1. Who can defeat 10 pokemon first with only 1 pokemon, where all pokemon faced must be within a 5 level range of the pokemon you use, e.g. if you use a level 50 pokemon, then the only pokemon that count are those between level 45 - 55. If your pokemon goes up a level, so does the range. First person to 3 points wins.
2. Theme pokemon catching challenge - Have a roulette wheel that has different franchises, e.g. Mario, FNAF, Zelda, etc. where each franchise has set pokemon you must catch. First one to catch all the pokemon related to that franchise wins. E.g. Five nights at freddy's: Freddy Fazbear - Ursaring, Foxy - Thievul, Bonnie - Lopunny, Chica - Blaziken/some other bird pokemon, Balloon Boy - Mime Jr., Cupcake - Alcremie
3. Fan challenges, like who can do name the most pokemon of the first 151 pokemon in a 15 minute time limit quiz challenge
4. Pokemon Snap? - Like you both have to do the same course, and whoever gets the most points/rarest photo wins?

i been watching you both since the black and white metronome nuzlocke, i watched mikey longer but that is when i started watching john and you two are by far my favorite pokemon youtubers, i love you both and i'm so glad too see you two are doing well and i as many others will loe to see future content from you both.
surprised there is a season 2.5 that has not as serious challenges and the winner get the honor of posting the first video of jmc season 3. then again i am a dork and think watching you two do irl challenges pokemon inspired challenges was top tier.
I’d love to see what you guys could do with creating some pre JMC warm ups in games like Pokémon Fusion, if that’s an idea that pings you both. Otherwise, excited to see new JMC content when new games release!
based on the trend of putting games out a week or so before Thanksgiving in the US ZA is likely coming out on November 11th, 2025
and frankly, i would love the two of you doing challenges that involve the spinoff games to quench your thirst for Pokemon challenges since they’re different yet fun
It’s not a JMC suggestion, but if both of you did an art challenge, I would totally love that!! JMAC - John Micheal Arts Challenge (Arts so you can incorporate lots of different styles, from drawing to preforming, to mimicking sounds of Pokemon cries, and any other forms of “art” you both can think of 😂)
So season 3 will most likely be next year that's perfectly fine you guys had enough videos from the first 2 seasons and honestly during rough times I rewatch those seasons just to lighten the mood
Honestly, while I don't have an issue with the more modernized J&M content (in fact, I think it's brilliant), part of me has kind of missed the more laid-back content, so seeing that returning is very appealing. I'm excited to see where you guys will go from here, your entertaining chemistry is a blessing from Arkoos himself.
Alright, that's fair enough. I was absolutely one of the many people clamoring for another season of the JMC, but that's some very valid reasoning for not kicking it off just yet. I admit I didn't consider that. And I knew you two were still friends, I _do_ watch the Cobblemon videos, they're quite enjoyable. But yeah- can't wait for season 3, and I will absolutely be checking out y'all's content in the meantime.

An interesting idea might be to each pick each other's pokemon team that then has to battle through the Elite Four/Champion battles. Picking the pokemon, move set, and everything about it. Keeping it secret from one another until you trade it to them. Making it difficult but not impossible. For example, you may give them a trick room or perish song team, but it's all middle evolutions with bad items.
JMC season 3 in Red-Black/White 2 would be fun to watch
