    What's your thoughts on the Google IT Support certificate? I am planning on doing it in conjunction with my Security+, through a program that allows transitioning military members to pursue a pathway in IT. I figured if I can do both of them it looks that much better haha.

      Hi, that is amazing and a great idea, kill 2 birds with one stone! Google IT certifications are help if you plan to work with a company that uses GSuite and Google as thier host. If you are focusing on Security +, that is an amazing choice as there's a huge need for security admins and engineers. You can also look into cloud computing, AWS and Azure as it goes well with the security path! Good luck with your journey!

    Would an associates/bachelors in Cybersecurity get me an IT job to where I can fond entry level work and earn certs needed to level up and become a System administrator? Just curious or should I aim for an IT degree although I know neither is needed.

      Hi! I code for side projects, but as a SysAdmin we don't code much. 😁

      Hi Danay! As a SysAdmin, I do not code much. My SysAdmin job is more server based, cloud based, data flow. I do many side projects with raspberry pi/Arduino devices that allow me to build and code though. =)

    I’m interested in sysadmin but as a woman someone told me that it is male dominant field. They suggested I look into another IT field

    • @Ty-io7bv
      @Ty-io7bv 2 роки тому

      Don't let that deter you. It's true that there aren't a lot of women in IT, but if you have the interest, knowledge and willingness to learn more, go for it. Try to also get engaged with other Women In Tech. That community is growing. I have no doubt if you try, you'll succeed, despite the pushback.

    • @mimztechritory
      @mimztechritory  Рік тому +1

      Yup, completely agree with Ty! Always follow your passion and interests! At the end of the day, if you genuinely enjoy your job/career, you will stay motivated and enjoy learning more IT topics. You will definitely run into folks that will try to discourage you or think less of you for being a women in tech, but use that as motivation. :)

      @@Ty-io7bvhello, I am an accidental systems administrator as our sys ad is leaving and I have the seniority and so I can take the job. Though I have a CS degree, I really haven't done much with networking but as an educational technologist. I know I have pretty big shoes to fill, but this is an opportunity for me to learn. Yes, sys ad is dominated by men but that doesn't mean we can't do the job being a woman. We might eveb do better.😉 So continue on working on it!

    Hello everything is fine ? For small retail stores, what do you recommend? Today I have Juniper SRX345 in data centers, and SRX300 in small stores. Would you recommend other firewalls?

    Hi Mimz, I have an interview for a Jr. Sys. Admin role coming up. Any technical questions I should prepare for? I just graduated and have Sec+

    • @mimztechritory
      @mimztechritory  3 роки тому +12

      Hi! That is great, good luck!
      It is hard to guess what technical questions will be asked. Here are some to prepare for:
      What is DNS and how does it work?
      What is Active Directory and what tasks can be done in AD?
      What is DHCP and how does it work?
      What is Group Policy and how does it work?
      What is the difference between forward lookup zone and reverse lookup zone?
      What is VLAN and how to ensure traffic for one can reach another?
      What port is blank.. Know your ports!!
      What is RAID and how does it work?
      Some Get To Know You questions to prepare for:
      1. What programs, services, technologies are you comfortable working with?
      2. What network equipment have you worked with and what tasks are you comfortable doing?
      3. Have you factory defaulted/installed operating systems from scratch?
      4. Have you setup Win Server 2012/2016/2019 and roles/features?
      5. What experience do you have with cloud/virtualization?
      Situational Questions:
      Users are stating that the time is wrong on a computer, how do you fix it?
      Your company has recently taken up a security initiative and needs to tighten up WiFi security. What are some ways to do this?
      You've deployed a new internal website for your company that works over https. However, every time a user goes to the internal URL, they are greeted with a warning saying the site is insecure. What are two ways to make this prompt go away using certificates? Assume that this is an IIS server.
