I have a similar setup to yours. Same box and I was planning on doing the same thing with the port but out the side. I have 4 skar svr 8s and a Skar RP 2k amp. I should be done with bass install this weekend. Can you post the update on your box and a demo thanks. Nice job!
thats awesome man yea the aero port really makes a difference im sure you already have finished with yours i been so busy with work havent had much spare time i need to make a demo video for sure
@@brandonreyes1377 that skar box is a good deal, if I could do it over again I'd go 2 8s vs 4 for the air space. Run a more powerful 8 with just two instea. The box in video is from soundoff audio
Hey how did you run your zero gauge to the back im trying to get 2 wires to the back but most of what im seeing is people using that channel down the sides and they definitely not going to fit in there
i used the channel on the driver side came through my firewall where the existing rubber gromet is and ran it inside the channel it was very tight but i got it in there and the trim snapped back in no problem. I didnt run a ground from the battery all the way to amp i did a chassis ground i used a step drill bit and drilled through floor in back of cab and put a gromet in so wire didnt chafe, and ran a bolt through an existing hole in the frame. I also ran a zero gauge from battery to chassis up front so no need to run a cable all the way. If i had to do it differently i would probably run the power wire under the cab instead of going on the inside just to avoid any alternator whine bleeding off onto my speaker wires since they run through the same track but its not that noticeable really. I thought about how i would protect it under the cab id probably just use some split loom but try finding some good quality shit that doesnt dry rot and fall apart, then just step drill a hole through cab with a gromet, as long as you make hole big enough and put a good quality gromet you wont have any issues and of course fuse it properly u wont burn your shit down if it does chafe.
How does it sound using the factory head unit? Do you have a line out converter oooor? I just got this truck today so I'm needing to do something asap lol I went from zv5 15 to NOTHING lol
it does pretty good with the factory one i kind of think i want to change it out tho in the future not sure what to get tho but i ended up getting the amp pro instead of a line out converter the amp pro piggy backs on the canbus data connection and gives you a super clean rca pre out signal for your amps, they cost about 400 dollars but well worth it if you want good sound quality from the factory head unit
What’s the best way to grab signal from the radio? I wanted to use the PAC Pro but supposedly it only works with the Bose system and I have non-amplified system.
How did you mount those amps? Just screws sticking out of the back of the cab? Lol I plan on mounting my amps but not sure how most people are mounting them to the wall
I got this one from soundoffaudio and no rattling the port ain't that great I recommend doing an aero port I'll post a vid of mine here soon and the 8s sound pretty good they are pretty much perfect for this truck I think You get good loud smooth bass nothing crazy that's going to win any competition but enough to beat down with
It sounds pretty damn good I'm a good friend and I just heard it today first time did a great job Nick definitely going to have to help when I get my other amp bro 😂💯👌🤙
I can't say for sure but to me it is perfect I've had big bass before and this isn't going to shake store windows and knock pictures off the wall but it's enough to sound really good and smooth bass with the aero port it does move some air but just not as much as it could if you could do a proper box without having to worry about space
I got a few questions for you... I have a 2015 Silverado. It’s the double cab, not the crew. Is that what your truck is..? If so, where did you get the box? How did you get the seats to fold down? Is it wired to the factory radio? If so, how? Did the box not come with terminals? Are you on the factory alternator still? How were you able to change the port? Sorry to ask so many questions, but there is no info anywhere online about this. If you need my number lmk cause I’m tryna get this same setup. Clean work bro.
mine is the full crew cab i got the box from sound off car audio and it is wired into the pac audio amp pro its a module that plugs into the can bus data behind the radio and gives you rca pre outs to run to your amps super clean audio and it allows you to lower the door chime volume since it goes through the front left speakers. the box does come with terminals but theyre cheap i prefer the threaded rod makes a more solid connection. and it is on the factory alternator which does do okay even with the dual battery setup but the truck regulates the voltage so usually i have to keep my headlights on when im running my system so the voltage stays up its pretty much unavoidable ive found unless you get a second stand alone alt. and for the port i installed an aero port from partsexpress i believe its the 3 inch they have a calculator you can determine the exact length you need but i had to use a jig saw to cut out the factory slot port which came out fairly easy then i put a piece of mdf over the hole and made a mdf ring to make the port stick out some to give me enough length on the inside worked out pretty well and she gets very low now super smooth bass but yea no prob hope that helps man and ikr theres not much info on putting systems in these trucks they are really easy to install in and you can take the door panels off a million times and still wont break anything thats my fav part oh and for the rear seat all you need to do to make it fold down is cut the hooks so when u fold up the bottom part it unhooks the backrest from the brackets on the back but in my case i bought the 2inch seat lift which raises it up enough for the hooks to unlatch without doing any cutting and it gives you more space for your box or like i did just recently installed a mount for my ar-15 to sit on top of my sub box seat sets perfectly on it nice lil hiding spot for it haha
@@b18turbo24 they don’t make one for ours. The back seat in the double is smaller than in the crew cab. It makes sense that they don’t make one. Have you taken the time take look under our back seat and take measurements. There’s hardly any space underneath.
