Great episode guys! Nice to see things getting fabricated. As an ex-aircraft techo who is now in training, I really like seeing Al passing on his skills and experience to Woody. Doing things properly, planning ahead, not taking short cuts - these things are hard to train in a classroom environment, it's only really years of focused mentoring on the tools that produces a really good tradie. Keep up the good work gents!

I'm really enjoying this build. Probably because I've always loved our Aussie Bedfords. I got slyed out of a Bedford that had been converted to a camper with solar panels and hot water and a shower etc. Lined the sale up and was to meet at 4pm. I got delayed by 15 minutes and phoned the guy to let him know. When we got there the camper was gone. Someone turned up at 5 past 4 and he thought it was us. $3000 and the only problem was the leather seal had perished on the top of the fuel pump. Spewin'.

Antolio Parker-James Supreme I heard but a arbitrary diameter restriction and a thermostat aren't really going to perform the same. A somewhat restricted flow will still allow the engine to run cooler or warmer than ideal and more importantly allow much greater temp fluctuation than a thermostat will.

A correctly sized cooling system should be able to provide considerably more cooling than the engine requires under normal conditions, if not, it will overheat under extreme conditions, like prolonged acceleration. As such, a thermostat is a requirement or the engine will run cold under all but the most extreme conditions, even in Oz.

Some engines over heat without the termostat
Depends what sort of system they run
Sometimes no thermostat the coolant has no way to stop it from circulating though the engine and bypass the rad
Removing it is usulay the last resort to try and hind other over heating issues

I love this series and so awesome to see the editor putting in work! I have always been skeptical about running without a thermostat, I recently had a car that came without one and would never heat up. I have also had the opposite happen where I took one out and the car stated to overheat without it but it would only be on extended driving trips or long hills. Is it just hit or miss when pulling the thermostat?
