    Nice to see that Bedford has a proper brass heater core. Here in the states, all cars now have thin aluminum fins with plastic tanks. They get a few years and heat cycles on them,they self destruct if you even look at them

    • @sideshow45
      @sideshow45 6 років тому

      dave1135 they arent that bad. Ive only replaced 2 heater cores one aluminum that was dripping. And one brass in a 65 ranchero that literally exploded lol.

    • @whorayful9361
      @whorayful9361 6 років тому

      The Bedford was made back in the 80's when most cars still had brass cores, I think everyone uses plastic and ally these days

      I didn't know heaters even could fail, but it's not like they get much use here. Air conditioners though, damn near every car I've been in either has a busted air con or it barely works, and usually smells like damp socks.

    Did you notice the heater core is triple flow? I reckon sticking the heater under the bonnet is the best thing ever, a lot easier to deal with than a modern car where you have to take the dash and console apart to get at the thing. I used a Ford heater valve (from a Mondeo, I think - could be wrong!) Only problem was the cable pushed to open the valve instead of pulled. Easy fix, just paint the blue dot on the heater control red, and the red one blue!

    There is the reason why 2 holes were drilled then 3rd later. ( vid at 24:34 ). When trying to drill / tap many holes at once either free hand or on a drill press, hole location will end up walking a bit. This makes makes the bolt patterns not quite the same. Drill / tap 2 then mark the next to keep the pattern from shifting.

    I might be incorrect but . . . I believe the reason behind some nut/bolt combinations being metric one side and imperial the other was that most people had a spanner set with a range of both size types - but not necessarily two of one spanner size. That way, a common type of spanner set would allow you to dismantle just about anything. You find the same now with car makers putting a 15mm bolt head with a 17mm nut (or similar combination).
