    Personally I chose to go for Mac Studio since it comes default with 32GB RAM. I use 27-28GBs on average, so I made the right call. The rMBP was significantly more expensive with this much RAM, then I purchased a refurbished M1 MBA for when I need a laptop.

    If I spec the 14" MBP to the same as a Mac Studio, the difference is about AUD$1600. So for that money, I get a 14" display, keyboard, trackpad, battery.
    The Apple Studio Display (27") + keyboard + trackpad would add about $2900 to the Mac Studio, or to put it another way I would get the equivalent of a MacBookPro with a 27" screen for an additional AUD$1300.
    It's as if Apple has measured absolutely everything and there are no special combinations of anything that will save you money compared to something else. Everything is perfectly priced with respect to everything else. It's like Tim Cook is some kind of accounting guy.

    • @Kartekid2233
      @Kartekid2233 2 роки тому +1

      I don't think using the studio display against a 14 inch display is fair.. Also the studio display is an overpriced monitor.
      14" M1 Max 24c is $2900 USD
      Studio + Keyboard, Trackpad, 27 Inch 4k display is $2700 USD (black trackpad and full keyboard with numpad)
      But that with apples keyboard and trackpad, you can a great mouse+keyboard combo for like 150 bucks, which would make it $2500 USD instead.
      And with those extra savings you could spend more on other accessories, headphones, etc.

    Even these days you need a portable device. If not because of traveling - at least to be able to do some work from your couch.... Having said that - I've just purchased a MacStudio. Only because: a) I don't travel much, b) I have 2017 MBP which covers all my needs working on the move. If I wouldn't have any laptop, MBP is most reasonable option. Regards!

    I need portability, but I don't need powerful portability as I won't be editing video when travelling. The big editing projects are done from a desktop setup for me with a much larger screen than 14 inches. So in this case the best option is a powerful desktop (Mac Studio), and a low powered portable option (macbook air or ipad + keyboard).
    If you absolutely need portable power with ability to connect to an external desktop at home, then the Macbook pro is the best option - but not everyone wants to edit video on the road using a 14 inch screen.

    If you're a video editor the playback delay doesn't really matter if you make proxies which you should do if you're working with large files anyway and if you use a heavy gpu reliant program they both kind of suck. For me the mbp is better value, portability, great screen, speakers, can plug into bigger monitor. If you need gaming power or gpu power you could build a better windows pc than the studio for same price if not less

    Now with macos Ventura, you can get the best Webcam if you have a iPhone. I see myself with a Mac studio and an iPhone mount on the display where I can put my iPhone to use it as a 4k Webcam. Now I have an asus laptop, but in 1.5 years, I think I unplugged it maybe 10 times, but just to lay in bed with it or to go in another room to work there for a little while, but besides that, I don't need to go to work in coffee shops or in the nature. I like my desk with all the accessories and space, and also my back hurts if I'm not using an ergonomic chair. Hope that life will go well and I will buy a Mac Studio with M1 Max, 32gb ram, 1tb storage and 24 core GPU before December, for web development. Also I have a 139 cm 4K TV near my desk, and I also want to be able to connect it to my machine and display stuff on it if someone is coming to me, and also 3 external displays on my desk, so a MacBook can't do that, but a Mac Studio can. So that's why I would go with a Mac studio, because meets all my requirements and even more. I'm sure it will be the perfect work horse for at least 5 years.

    Epic intro! Gotta ask - people are actually cross-shopping these? Seems as simple as: Need laptop? Get laptop. Don't need laptop? Get not-laptop.
    Personally, as cool as I find the Mac Studio, I have zero use for one. For me, desktops are for gaming, and my gaming PC has that covered. I need my productivity computer to be mobile and have a really good display more than I need it to be as powerful as possible. An M1 Pro MacBook Pro (10C/16GPU/32gb RAM/1TB SSD) makes way more sense.

    See even though it seemed like you leaned towards the mbp, I think the studio is the better setup for me. A future proof studio and then maybe a MacBook Air or iPad if I find I miss the portability of my current mbp. 90% of the time, I’d benefit from the power of a studio

    • @jonahhammond1360
      @jonahhammond1360 2 роки тому +1

      Unless you’re going to take advantage of the M1 ultra, then getting a M1 max MacBook seems like the better route, especially if you’re using this kind of power, then it’s worth the cost since it’s probably as a work expense, paying extra to get the M1 max in a MacBook instead of the studio seems worth it just for the portability and you can dock it with a hub to get all the ports the studio has. I would personally only go for the studio if I was going to get the M1 ultra.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND 2 роки тому +5

      @@jonahhammond1360 getting the same 24 core gpu in a 14 inch is going to cost you an extra $900. This is the point these sort of comments are missing. Sure, you can get literally the same chip in a MacBook for portability but at the cost equivalent of literally adding an M1 MacBook Air. Some people have an extra $1,000 to spend on a better chip, but some people want that level of power at the most affordable price even if it means “sacrificing” portability. I’m trading in my MacBook for a Mac studio. I haven’t used my MacBook on the go in 2 years. So I realized I don’t NEED that kind of power in my portability. I just need to be able to check emails, plan youtube videos, edit photos in Lightroom, and maybe some light video editing so I do all that on my iPad.
      Mac studio for the win. Don’t get me wrong if I had the extra $1500 I’d get a 16 inch Max. But I do not however I do have 2 monitors, keyboard, a mouse, studio speakers, and $2,000 to blow.

    • @imhaydenmelrose
      @imhaydenmelrose Рік тому

      @@IAMLXGEND This is a late comment, but I thought I'd chime in a little. Yes 14" will cost $900 more, but if you're planning on getting the Studio AND a MacBook Air, you'll be paying the same amount as just getting one powerful laptop. This also isn't including the mouse, keyboard, and display you may need with the Studio. With the 14", you get the benefit of having all the power you need, anywhere you need it. If you're only going to get the Studio, your points make sense, but otherwise, I think the MacBook Pros are the move. Of course, this is all dependent on your needs. I would personally use a dock at the desk, and have the option of taking the computer with me if needed. One cable away from the convenience of both a desktop and a laptop.

    hey there! I got a 16" M1pro mbp back in December and I have been using it mostly as a desktop replacement-much faster than my old maxed up 27" imac 2013...but I really really was hoping to get a new all in one imac with a M1max processor...but I guess Apple won't make one this year...or ever...The Mac Studio and the Mac Display are sort of the replacement for an Imac...sort of...but a lot more expensive..oh well...so I'll wait a few months and If I really need a faster desktop I may for the Mac Studio M1max...I already have a Logi keys and Logi Master mouse..and a decent 32" 4K display. In your video you feel that the m1pro is not as good as the M1max...to be expected...is it about 60% as good? worse? It works fine for me-I use premiere pro (can't stand FCP X-hate it!! lol)...which version are you running? Beta? Finally optimized for M1 chips? Adobe is so slow doing this. I don't do blender or 3d animation. Just video editing and some after effects. Thanks!

    At 10.59min, you are running MacBook Pro in battery and you will notice the difference in performance when connected to the mains.

    I wouldn't trust this camera cover it may break your screen if you slam the lid and this happened to many people you don't need it.

    I absolutely love the design of the new MacBooks and the return of MagSafe is 🔥. Oh, and the ports of course. Being a student the MacBook is a clear winner.

    You guys buy stuff, lots of it, to make videos about stuff. Interesting. It looks like you have a real studio but it’s actually a circular kind of thing where you buy and make videos about stuff you buy. Interesting.
