Hi guys. I am aware of the heavy criticism this MacBook pro has. I looked between the m2 MacBook pro, M1 pro 14 and the new MacBook Air. I have a 5k mac desktop that I used for heavy graphics and architectural drawings so feel if I need that I can. I have had a career change and need a laptop for word processing large text files and blogging. I think if you need heavy graphical video work maybe consider the M1 pro. I decided on the MacBook m2 and opened it today and have to say I love it! It works so well for my needs, love the touch bar, no notch and the lovely compact form factor and keyboard with contrasting aluminium. I got the silver as it's less fingerprint prone and it reminds me of my old MacBook that I had for 11 years! Hope this helps others anxious about the critiques. I also think this machine will be very stable with it being just a processor upgrade from the previous one. I bought the 512 for many reasons mentioned here. I also kept it at 8Gb as my 5k runs on 8Gb and works great for Photoshop and 3d work, (not heavy rendering). Anything heavy id recommended 16Gb and move up to the 14 inches if you are a designer or architect or similar.. 👌👍

Were you guys waiting for the new MacBook Pro or the new MacBook Air? P.S Letting you guys know that I found out why the new M2 MacBook Pro SSD is much slower than the M1. Inside the chassis, the M2 actually uses a single SSD chip to talk to multiple buses to transfer data. Meanwhile, the M1 actually uses 2 chips to communicate... In my opinion. It's really ODD as to why Apple would implement this design
I just ordered the Pro M2 (2022 model) for $1099. Not a bad deal. Ordered it through Costco online. I’m seeing bad reviews but I’m not understanding why. Nobody is really giving good reasons to avoid it, it’s more so people saying something better will be released in the future. It’ll do exactly what I need so I’m not too worried about it. I’ve had two other MacBooks and the latest one I had was a 2010 Pro lol worked great until my buddy’s dog sat on my backpack and crushed the screen 😅 It was time for an upgrade obviously so I wasn’t too upset. Had that one for over 12+ years. Looking forward to having a newer faster model again and got a good deal on it.
I noticed something cool. Apple intentionally wanted reviewers to review the m2 macbook pros first, instead of the airs, as to build up a sense that the pro is really inferior to the air, plus all these people arguing brings in more traffic, which means more people will be anticipated for the m2 air reviews. Slick tactic!
Looking at this in June 2024 with freshly bought M2 MacBook Pro 2022. On the basic level, I love how the machine stay cool after long hours of normal use. Not even fan is spin up during this long time. (Web Surfing, Music Listening, Netflix and UA-cam). Big thumbs up for Apple. However, a little of myself feel sorry for not buying for M2 MacBook Air with new design.
I like the fact they kept the design of the 2020 MacBook Pro cause I have an intel one and thought the Touch Bar thing was completely getting phased out in M chips. I do agree they could of did some slight upgrades make it more future-proof but we know components got recycled but still I think it’s good they kept it for the people who are into the bar on the keyboard. I would still pick this over the new design 14 and air. Videos are getting more sick each upload great production work and consistency always new content for us to view. Thx
A lot of developers still prefer this 13' MBP as the M1 Pro is a little overkill for most developer work and they still like the smaller form factor of the 13".
Isn’t it a bit of a dumb move from Apple, because the laptop design is the exact same, and not the cool new design from the M2 Air. The performance wouldn’t me noticeably different day to day. …I don’t understand what people were expecting. Apple kept the design of previous generation(s) MBP because that’s what people like. The MBP already has a sleek design. What other changes were supposed to be made? It makes sense to change the design of for the M2 Air, as the Air has always had that unique, tapered design. As far as the MBP M2 is concerned, it honestly think it’s fine. It has the classic Apple design - like the rest of their products - and I wouldn’t expect them to be making any changes anytime soon.
That’s the point. They want you to see the MBP and think the MB Air is a more attractive purchase and sell more of those. For ppl who want more performance will go for the MBP.

Read & write speeds are slower on the M2 MacBook Pro because Apple decided to use only one NAND chip for the 256GB model, unlike its predecessor, the M1 MacBook Pro 256GB model which uses two 128GB NAND chips. Can you make a review video about the M2 MacBook Pro (Base Model) for programming and CS students, because I don't know if its really worth upgrading the RAM to 16GB

Would you think the base model (8GB RAM) will be enough to record and make acoustic music/songs with not more than 20 tracks per project, and to edit basic vlog videos (1080 & 4K)? I don't mind not being the fastest, I just want it to workable and able to cope with in roughly 5 years time.
should be i have a m1 mini and run all my native instruments and mpc one daws with it no problem only 8gb base version and i will be using my m2 for this as well.
