“Charizard loses his flying type and gains a dragon typing anyways in this final smash he flies around” lmao
my favorite part of pokemon is when charizard goes "it's poking time!" and dragons away
i have to agree that Roy's critical hit feels much more satisfying and powerful than Marth/Lucina's, even if it's not a 1HKO; and Roy's screaming just adds to the intensity
HAA! DOYA!!!!!
Roy's screaming is the best in every game. He's making sure you know how he's feeling through just screaming. Even when he switched to English he still keeps screaming.
@@castform7 thats part of the reason i main him. He's loud and expressive like me
@@castform7 *Cues Roy star K.O sound effect*
Red boy go:
"HOOOOOOOY.
*HYYYAAAAAA!* "
A note about the Dark Pit Staff: The entire reason why he has it (and also why he's a seperate character and not a skin in Sm4sh) is simply because Sakurai didn't like the idea of Dark Pit using the Three Sacred Treasures. They gave him his own character slot JUST to change his Final Smash. (I assume the moveset changes came later.)
I mean, Lucina was literally going to be a pallet swap, but he kept tweaking things and went "oops, guess she's her own thing now" so Sakurai just didn't have any to give in 4.
That's actually kinda funny to me for some reason
Except now Pit is using a Final Smash that both of them have used in the past, and if anything that FS should've went on Dark Pit according to the Guidance in Sm4sh (which was unchanged in this game iirc).
@@extremmefan7305 Hell no. Dark Pit Staff is more practical.
@@Nosretep I actually like the Dark Pit Staff as a Final Smash as is, I'm just saying that if consistency were an issue, the Lightning Chariot WOULD'VE went on Dark Pit (or a promoted Phosphora, or Viridi, or really just about anyone working with the Forces of Nature at this point).
If it was up to me, I'd keep the DP Staff for Pittoo and 3 Sacred Treasures for Pit (regardless of "but muh snappy FSes". Come on, Peach's FS is still in the game), no Lightning Chariot as FS.
Snake's Final Smash actually has him using a very obscure grenade launcher called the RH Alan RGB-6. Ironically, Snake himself never uses it, but the player as Raiden in MGS2 does. It's the only weapon Raiden has zero Virtual Reality Training with.
@@Solad2187 Totally agree.
@@Solad2187 it might be that he couldn’t since he is in PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale, but maybe not.
@@Solad2187 oh yeah he is lol. I totally forgot he was as well. Whoops, I guess nobody played him in my friend group, so I just forgot about him.
Edit: I forgot that Snake is in All-Stars not that Snake is in Smash. That’s pretty much obvious considering the video goes over that. Your original comment said, “But Snake’s in there.” And I thought by “there” you meant All-Stars not Smash, so when I went to reply, I was replying to that comment.
For Young Link, they could’ve made it so he instead turns into Fierce Deity Link then does the slash. It would function the same but at least it would make sense
I thought yink was specifically based off of OoT?
@@FoldedBionis his sword and shield are, however i think they have the same model in oot a mm as they’re the same console
@@FoldedBionis but the thing is, if you base him off SPECIFICALLY OoT, then you’d have a lot of missed opportunity. Like for Melee, it was rushed and Majoras mask only released when Melee was already being developed. But for Ultimate it feels weird. Yes it was disappointing that there were no masks, but he stayed that way prob bc of people who played SM4SH and Brawl Link. But they could’ve at least visually changed the final smash and had him turn into FDL and did the slash
The Hookshot and Fire Arrows are things YoungLink could only use in MM, and the character model was the exact same, just tweaked as it used the RAM Pack
Yeah, he should transform, then use a purple version of the triforce to show that "darkness" aspect. Similarly, Toon Link should turn into the three Links from Tri Force Heroes.
17:20 Just to confirm this: In MGSV you have to leave via helicopter to complete a mission or return to your base, and you do unlock the ability to summon this helicopter anywhere with a flare.
Actually, the Falco's Landmaster is faster than Fox. It is even suggested in the Brawl website that is better to send the opponent flying than shooting
i think it also can boost up higher
@@DiamondPanda207 correct, the best way to kill with it was literally to lift your opponents to the blast zone after forcing your opponent to jump on it, whereas Fox's version lifted too slowly to do that reliably (but had a more powerful cannon I think?)
@@Croove55 Yes, he had a more powerful cannon
8:30 Something to remark: Aether is a healing skill, it uses the skills Sol (heals HP = damage dealt) and Luna (ignores def/res stat of the opponent). If we were technical, Ike's Recovery and Chrom's and Ike's Final Smash should heal them every time they hit.
Technically Ike uses Aether has his up special so that could also drain HP
@@velvetbutterfly that's what he meant, Ike's recovery/up-b is Aether
@@keeganlafferty1395 They didn't say Ike's recovery pre-edit, they only listed the Final Smashes
@@velvetbutterfly ah
I do hope after this series of videos we get a sequel to the stage origins video. That was a genuinely fun watch seeing you go through the stage and the source and compare them.
I hope we get a sequel to the "How many races are there in Smash" video
I hope we get a sequel to "How Sussy Baka Is Everyone In Smash" video
I hope we get to sequel to “How sexy is each character in Smash”
Ya that’s was one of my favorite videos
Yes more stage origins pls. Those were very informative
Once again to reiterate, it's possible that the Smash original Final Smashes are a sort of holdover from the plans to implement them in previous Smash games, as Captain Falcon's voiceline while using Blue Falcon was recorded during the development of Smash 64.
PK Starstorm's voice line was also present in Smash 64 if memory serves.
Yeah, that was my thought too - the reason Final Smashes only first appeared in Brawl was because technical limitations got in the way of implementing them in the first two games, so they probably reused a lot of the original concepts they had when implementing them in Brawl.
Once again? 🤔
Fun fact:
The triple finish could be also referred to an special attack from the *Red* *Green* and *Blue* Manga developed by *Panini* from the third chapter where Red´s Venasaur Blue´s Charizard, and Green´s Blastoise make a triple attack to defeat the three sacred Birds (Articuno Zapdos and Moltres) who were controlled by Team Rocket´s Army
*volume
also I jut realised that although reading the manga
Wasn't the rival (Blue, Gary, Asshat) named Green in the manga? And the girl's name was Blue? I might be misremembering, it's been a very long time since I've read the manga
There's actually a small difference between Fox and Falco's Landmaster. Fox's moves faster on the ground, and Falco's flies faster in the air.
Falco's can also hover for longer iirc.
Wolfs doesn't last as long but is a lot stronger.
Mewtwo mega evolving into Mega Mewtwo Y isnt entirely just "a neat touch". Its mega form is a whole 40 base points higher in spatk then its regular form. So presumably its to give the attack some extra oomph (Fitting for a final smash)
I wish Charizard mega evolved to X in his final smash when you used the final smash as charizard. As shit as his final smash is in 4, Mega Char X is the best
He said having the move Mewtwo uses for its Final Smash be Psystrike is a neat touch as he says Mewtwo doesn’t need to Mega Evolve to use it. He wasn’t saying the Mega Evolution was the best touch
@@mynameismattfirered9276 nah. Mega X sucks. Mega Y shouldve been usef
21:58 Well, remember, the voicelines for the Final Smashes were recorded during 64. So they probably planned them out back then as well and stubbornly stook to them or something.
they actually did intend to add final smashes in 64, so they probably just didn't want to rerecord voice lines
But how many of them were recorded back in 64? The only ones I can see are Mario, Captain Falcon, and maybe Pikachu.
@@chaoscontroller316 ness
Fun fact I guess: alone charizard's final smash is almost the same as Yoshi's brawl/smash 4 final smash, just with 1 more move
Except Yoshi gains the Flying type, while Charizard loses it.
And yoshi hurts on contact while charizard doesn't ?
PersonalIy I love Dark Pit final smash just because it's so satisfying to land with all the zoom and sound effects
Imagine the developers of Kirby making meta knight's smash move into kirby and then they fucking changed it.
well, the lead developer did also make smash.
@@nanidafaq7626 technically yes, but i dubt he was involved at all for a detail like that som my comment is still funny
@@nanidafaq7626 Sakurai hasn't been involved with Kirby since Air Ride, I think
i think it would be cool if mewtwo had 2 final smashes like ryu and ken. like if he used it close to his opponent, he would mega evolve into the x form, and if he used it at a distance, he would mega evolve into the y form
Yeah Wario's old one was so much fun. Also I remember my uncle told me that Brawl Ike's final smash sounded like he was saying
*"GREAT PIZZAAAAAA!!!"*
I thought Ike said raging aether
It was fun...
To play 😑
I hear him screaming the game of an austrian mustacheo when he says "AETHER !!!" during his up b
I won't elaborate further for obvious reasons
Video: "Final Smash origins"
Me in 13:39 : the heck CPU Samus did just do? It was awesome.
I believe that Chrom's final smash is called "Awakening Aether" because it's meant to be him using the Awakened Falchion for the attack.
Little silly fun fact about Dark Pit Staff, in the 3DS version (maybe wii U) Kirby's idle animation can duck under it. I don't think it works in ultimate
I still think that Pokémon trainer’s final smash should’ve had Charizard mega evolve, even if it would only be an aesthetic change.
Fun fact:
Mewtwo turns into Mewtwo Y to raise its special attack stat, making Psystrike, a special type move, even more powerful
Actually, Falco’s land master was able to use the rocket boosters to a larger extent. You would be able to fly higher and longer with Falco’s landmaster, at least in brawl.
Correct me if I’m mistaken though.
That's because he prefers the air
@@door-chan That is true 😂
You forgot to mention that technically Chrom's Awakening Aether should heal him, because Aether is both the Sol and Luna skills attack combined into one move. The former healing for 1/2 of the damage and the latter halfing the defense of the target.
And Samus's Smash 4 final smash may be a reference to metroid Prime in general because it's from a first person perspective.
Plus prime 3 does a lot with the ship
I feel like meta knight "know my power" (brawl and sm4sh final smash) was really nice and memorable, and they should have kept it
They kept that line though thankfully.
What I find weird about Meta Knight’s Darkness Illusion causes him to grow a second pair of wings which comes completely out of nowhere since he has never had more than two wings throughout the Kirby and Smash series. I like to imagine it’s based off of Battleship Halberd since it also has four wings. A bit of a stretch, but what else would it be based off of? Plus, it’s already a stretch for Meta Knight to have an extra pair of wings.
He also makes clones of himself for some reason
Well, he’s done it in Star Allies and I like to imagine he’s moving so fast you see double. I also like to imagine it’s an extension of his Meta Quick ability. That’s most likely not what happens but it’s fun to use your imagination.
10:04 the sword's name was also introduced in Kirby mass attack in a minigame similar to an RPG
No, that(2011) came after the TV show(2001)
What Gabriel said, but also, Epic Yarn came out before Mass Attack, so really you're wrong no matter what
@@thisisasupersayin376 I changed it to be correct, thank you
Wow, this episode came out a lot quicker than I thought it would.
What another great video! There are a few things I want to add that you didn't mention:
4:18 The other difference Falco's Landmaster is different from Fox's is that Falco's Landmaster has faster air mobility.
8:24 Also, If you do Roy's Final Smash in the air, he does the same animation as in the game too!
12:59 When using the Dark Pit Staff in Kid Icarus Uprising, you deal more damage when you shot someone from afar. But in Smash, you deal more damage shooting someone up close than someone who is far. If only they kept that true to the original game...
For your last point, I guess it makes even less sense since the Staff item literally does get a boost for longer distances lol
what? no, dark pit staff does the same damage regardless of distance in smbu. If it pierces someone, the next enemy takes less damage, but that's not really a distance thing, more of a, you know, piercing thing.
@@zoromax10 I mean, the issue still remains that at least for the first opponent hit it should deal damage inversely to how close the character is from Dark Pit, instead of constant damage or close-to-far decrease, especially when the Staff item exists.
The last thing anyone would want in a FS is it to only be usable when across the map. This isn't an item that you can spam, it's a one and done attack. So no, make it grow in strenght based on distance would be bad, especially because pitoo has the best confirm into it, back throw into FS
@@zoromax10 You could just make it as powerful as now up close and like 5-10 more % at a distance and no one would really bat an eye, while still making it faithful to the OG material. But it's not something we absolutely need to argue about, I suppose ^^'
it would be cool if the Fire Emblem generic Final Smash changed if in stamina mode if the health is set to a certain level
Dark Pit Staff is one of the best in the game. Dark Pit Dtaff is based on the Staff Special Attack in Air Battles. Since Staves are the only weapon type that aren't screen clearers and only hit what's directly in front of you.
I think one thing you should mention is that unlike most games, Fire Emblem crits do triple damage, instead of the usual x2 or x1.5, so they are much more worthy of final smash material than other crits from other games.
They should had kept Pit's Sacred Treasure Final Smash and give Pitoo the Lightning Chariot. After all, he also used it once in the game, and in a Palutena Guidance talk in Smash 4, Viridi says Pitoo is working with her AND they still have the Chariot
No. Dark Pit Staff is way better.
A Hit box that hold you in place.
Amazing Range
And a easy kill confirm at ledge.
Man, after watching this I really want to go back to Kid Icarus uprising and actually get over my fear of the Orne’s and beat the game, it was so cool with all the weapons, and the multiplayer was also pretty fun, I just wish there would be another game soon
I like how Wario's final smash is basically a goofy version of Street Fighter's Raging Demon.
Actually Ganon is only his original form in terms of design, in terms of lore he is originally a humanoid Gerudo.
"Awakening Aether" could also be a nod to a skill that Lucina can learn in Fates and Warriors called "Awakening", which grants a sizable Hit/Avo/Crit/Ddg boost of +30 when at 50% HP or less in fates, and increases overall damage dealt in Awakening mode in Warriors.
It could also be a nod to Warriors awakening mode, which is a time-limited super powered mode any character can enter when their awakening gauge is filled.
One final theory is it's referencing the titular awakening ritual Chrom performs near the end of the game to gain the power to defeat Grima, though the only in-game change is that Chrom's Falchion turns into the Exalted Falchion.
I still think it would be more fitting and entertaining if Wario's final smash was one of the finishing moves from Wario World, you know since it's a fighting game and there's already very scarce representation for the Wario platformers in Smash
Although Wario's fighting style is different, his final smash reminds me of Akuma's Raging Demon.
@@Patricio4Christ they're in no way similar
@@fireemblem7099 A super move in which the user dashes forwards and (In Some versions) we see a long combo of hits with the user seeming to teleport around the enemy for each strike.
Sounds like a Raging Demon to me...
@@Patricio4Christ What about that one yoshi pose?
@@calemr Ehhhh
Close enough.
4:10 Falco's land master actually has better aerial mobility than fox's.
also, wolfs landmaster is overall stronger, but has a shorter time limit
I wanna point out that Ganon's Final Smash in Ultimate also has a spile hitbox as the swords are swung down although it only really has an effect at the tips of the sword because anywhere else Ganon hits before the actual spike can send the opponent down.
Allow me to help you on Snake FS
Brawl's fs it may be based on that scene you just showed but the weapon desing he's using is one that you can use when you play as Raiden later in the game, also this granade launches looks like the Beast granade launcher from MGS4, game that was launched if I'm not wrong a few months after Brawl came out, don't forguet that Sakurai and Kojima are great friends, that's why we have "Love Theme" song that plays on MGS4 and that was teased on Brawl
Ultimate FS is indeed based on The Phantom Pain, more acurate from Ground Zeroes, but the mechanic of trowing a granade to request air support comes from Peace Walker
Hope I was helpfull and people who didn't know where this FS came from knows about it
Also you should definitely play Metal Gear saga, you won't regret it!
Excited for this series to keep on going!
Well, since no one has brought this up yet, Darkness Illusion is also the name of a Super that Morrigan uses in both the Darkstalkers series and the Capcom Vs Whatever series.
I always thought Dark Pit’s Final Smash was good because the Dark Pit Staff is his signature weapon.
It's not. Silver Bow is.
Volt tackle was visually very different when the move first appeared in the pokémon games and anime. Volt Tackle in recent Pokémon games however look very close to what Brawl depicted first.
Isnt it also a reference to a game made by game freak for the genesis?
I actually feel like Dark Pits final smash is pretty much exactly what is appropriate for him outside of him going to the background and sniping from there. All of the bosses have special named weapons with his having special prominence due to him using it in his boss fight. Plus its just very cool and it looking like a straight up gun fits his edginess
Also yeah Snake's final smash is definitely based on that ability from Phantom Pain. The helicopter in question is most likely Pequod who is his main pilot throughout that game. I believe also you can use it in the final boss against Sahalanthropus.
Fun fact: if during his final smash someone gets star KO'd before all the missiles hit them one is seen flying after them
5:05
ah team fortress 2, my favorite rpg
Squirtle is actually using whirlpool and probably based of how the pledge moves can combine
That wouldn't be possible since the pledge moves were introduced in gen 5 and Brawl came before
22:20 "Where fortunately final smashes get a lot better"
*cries in Rosalina*
ZSS should have the Gravity suit when using her final smash. It would be a nice reference to how, when you finish most Metroid games, she stands on top of her ship with all the upgrades.
The fact that dragon rush is locked into just the 90 and 45 degree angles and it having 75 accuracy is a nice touch
I love how he always showcases the current characters final smash against the character who is next in line
Love how you gave the explanations for Mewtwo and Charizards final smashes, not many youtubers know about Mega pokemon and things like that!
Details you missed about Marth’s final smash.
1. The actual animation done is seemingly based off his animation from the first fe game, just much faster.
2. The health bar that shows up in brawl is based off of the one in fe3, mystery of the emblem, Marth’s 2nd game, whereas the one in smash 4 and ultimate is based off of awakening, Lucina’s game. Which isn’t technically incorrect for Marth and Roy because they do appear in awakening as dlc characters, but the animations they do are based off their crit animations from there original game, so idk. It’s weird. I would’ve done 3 different health bars for all 3 of them, but oh well.
Triple finish was a thing in the Pokémon adventures manga although it was with all the starters fully evolved. May or may not have come from there.
Are you going to do some more worst move for the final dlc characters?
With Pokémon Trainer’s final smash, Charizard uses Fire Blast 5 times, which is a reference to the number of PP fire blast has (it can be increased to 8 though…)
making your videos with people watching them back to back in the future in mind shows the insane amount of thought and effort put into your videos, it's crazy
I’m glad Squirtle and Ivysaur don’t learn their moves disrespectfully 18:50
1 small note on mewtwo is that Y is the more psychically powerful of the two megas, making it the better choice for a psychic type final smash
This man got the best upload schedule right now
I really like the explanations behind all of them, and all the research that went into it. I will say, Squirtle looks more like it's using Whirlpool than Hydro Pump, but still, mad props my dude
18:02 ike's aether move was directly referenced in Fire Emblem Heroes years later on his legendary unit form
thought it'd be important to mention since you do mention other moves if they've reappeared in a more fleshed out form after smash games
Bro when you get to Steve just say that Steve puts you in a normal 2b2t house lol
Fun Fact: In the example shown for Pichu's Final Smash, Pichu took roughly 1/3 the damage dealt, which is the same amount of recoil that Volt Tackle actually has.
5:41 While I know Lucina’s final smash is made to be Marth’s because she was a costume of his until she became a separate fighter, it should have been the awakening attack she does in the future past DLC as one of the plot points of the DLC(and actual game) is for the characters to obtain all the orbs and shield to perform the attack as a way to defeat Grima. Yeah you could argue Chrom should also have the attack, but it means more if Lucina had it and because you’re not likely to see Chrom do it due to the split ending in Awakening.
8:24
Rare footage of Roy killing an enemy
You forgot to mention that in prime 3 you could also control her gunship and shoot it at some points. Also, that second Snake final smash is more like the MGS Peacewalker flare that rains missles where’s you throw it.
Unpopular Opinion: Dark Pit’s isn’t stupid, It looks Awesome!
Note about Pokémon trainer: squirtle's move looks quite a lot more like the "whirlpool" move which also makes sense since squirtle is the weakest of the three (pokemon wise) although hydro pump could work just not aesthetically.
Thank you for the video
4:25 Falco's line "Time for a little payback" comes from Starfox 64 (i think) when you are at the enemy's base destroying ships before starwolf shows up.
thanks for weekly uploads. happy halloween!
When seeing two Samuses in the same costume, it would be cool if the second Samus could have the SA-X parasite look from Metroid Fusion, it would have been a nice detail and I bet Metroid fans would have loved it (Btw, you can use this in a missed opportunity’s video if you’d like)
The triple-finish final smash the Pokémon trainer uses could be based on the pledge moves that starter Pokémon learn at max happiness, specifically when they are used together. When a pledge move is used with another pledge move of a different typing, they combine and the power is increased. Considering the Pokémon the Pokémon trainer uses are starters, these could also be inspirations.
They might have changed it, but brawl (where the final smash first showed up) was before pokemon black and white which was when the pledge attacks were released.
I've always maintained that Dark Pit should've been the one to use the Lightning Chariot. He uses it more in Uprising than Pit does, and in his Palutena's Guidance Viridi asserts that A. Dark Pit works for her now, and B. She has possession of the Lightning Chariot.
Dark Pit Staff is better.
19:45 Correction: They are the most marketable "cool" Pokémon from Gen 1. Plenty of other Pokémon from Gen 1 got mega evos, but only the to top of the "tough guy cool kid Pokémon" list ones got two.
I like Pit's newest FS. There's just something really satisfying about hearing him go "PHOS! LUX! LET'S GO!" Before hitting the opponent with a big BOOOOSH!
It's a bit disappointing how it's pretty much just a reskin of the dragoon item, though.
Thanks for the Info on every Character's final smash (Part 2)!
I thought Pit was saying, “FORCE! LOCK! LETS GO!” Like saying he was locked on his enemy.
i just realized that the npc that he uses the smash moves on are the ones next in line
Holy shit I’ve never played any game but ultimate and the way he says “personally, I prefer the AIR.” And just gets in a fucking tank is unironically the funniest thing

We love all the Pokemon equally said the Pokemon company
@@austinlawrence1655 but in reality, they secretly only care about Pikachu
Triple finish actually comes from the Pokémon manga (specifically the Fire Red and Leaf Green run of the manga) where Red, Blue, and Green instruct their Venasour, Charizard, and Blastoise to use their best attack in tandem with each other.
To this day I'm disappointed with Pit not using the Great Sacred Treasure as his final smash
Falco's Final Smash also only has two other Arwings accompanying him while Fox has three, which probably means Fox isn't in Falco's Final Smash.
Pichu’s is also as uncanon as Pikachu since the damage actually comes from the fact that pichus harm themselves when using electric moves since they can’t control it yet (till they evolve)
A little fun fact about Ganon’s Final Smash, the swords spike. AKA, you can use it offstage and spike them into the blast zone before the charge attack hits
The quickest a video has come out in a while! Good job man.
In Smash 4, they used the Fierce Deity as a Link alternate costume. Maybe they didn't implement Fierce Deity as a final smash in case they brought the costume back. Presumably before they decided to make all of Link's alts Breath of the Wild.
Great video. Enjoying the series thus far. Just one thing I thought I'd point out. In one of the later Donkey Kong games, I think it was Donkey Kong Country Returns, in one of the endings to the game you get launched into space as Diddy Kong and begun falling towards the moon. Diddy attempts to use his jetpack to save himself, but a malfunction occurs and he instead ends up rocketing directly at the moon. This impact is so devastating that it knocks the moon out of orbit, causing it to Majora's Mask itself into the Earth. That might be the inspiration for Diddy's Final Smash ending with him ramming you. Just thought I'd mention it, since it's so hilarious. xD
i notice something, when you show some final smash, who you're against is the next chracter you're going to show, poggers
sorry if something is spelled out wrong, i'm from Brazil and my english is rusty
pjiggles please recalculate the amount of joker victory screens
Zero suit samus’s final smash is too op, I can’t dodge it at all and that final shot always kills me
Have you ever thought about doing Smash 4 custom moves origins? It's an interesting topic to make a series about and also one that a lot of people probably aren't familiar with
Vouch
One thing I want to note is that in the newest pokemon games, scarlet and violet, a "Star barrage" is a new type of battle where a trainer sends out 3 pokemon to attack groups of enemy pokemon. So now triple finish could be seen as a star barrage, although gen 9 wasn't even in development at the same time as brawl.
Been waiting for this episode!
Another note for Pichu is that aside from the Volt Tackle Final Smash dealing damage like the actual move, Pichu also likely takes damage because it doesn't have full control over it's electricity and sometimes accidentally releases bursts of energy that sometimes shock itself. That's why Pichu takes damage when using electric moves and not Pikachu
I love Pits final smash from Ssb4.
I use to go into Training mode, trigger the smash and then go into slow motion to watch what projectile Pit would attack with.
Great time killer.
Another good video. Very interesting. Can't wait for the next video!
