Laura Branigan died way too young of an undiagnosed brain aneurysm in 2004. Her signature song is the 1982 hit "Gloria", which stayed on the US charts for 36 weeks, then a record for a female artist! RIP Laura B ❤

This video makes me grateful I only had access to 80s music on the radio and not MTV. It's not that I am a prude, but I would have had to explain it to my daughters. Laura Branigan was a powerhouse singer. "Gloria" is my absolute favorite of hers... talk about a BANGER!
The song was first in Italian for another artist... Laura adapted several other songs into English and made international hits with them. The video is in the style of 70's Italian horror / murder mysteries called "Giallo".

Laura Branigan died in her sleep at her lodge in East Quogue, New York, on August 26, 2004, aged 52. The cause was attributed to a previously undiagnosed cerebral aneurysm. It was reported that she had been experiencing persistent headaches for several weeks before her death, but had sought no medical attention for them.
Laura Branigan was really well respected within the music community. Her song 'Gloria' was massive, and she had a few more hits in the 80's as well as songs on the soundtracks for Miami Vice, Ghostbusters, and Flashdance. She also loved acting and went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, one of the oldest drama private schools in the world, while supporting herself as a waitress. She died in 2004 at 52 from a brain aneurysm that she didn't know about, only complaining of severe headaches in the weeks before.
Gotta listen to "Gloria". What POWER! Amazing talent. My father also passed away at a relatively young age from an undiagnosed cerebral aneurysm - same as Laura Brannigan.
To truly understand how powerful her voice was you need to listen to Power Of Love!!! It shows the power and range of her voice!! She has been my favorite vocalist since her first hit 42 years ago...
Something you may not realize is most of us teens did not have the videos ( cable has not grown to what it is now). We only heard the music on the radio or tapes that we purchased. We had to listen to the music and the words and formulate our own imagery. Great music.
I totally forgot about Laura Branigan. Immediately I random associated Bonny Tyler "Total Eclipse of the Heart" for no logical reason whatsoever except maybe both were played in the same 8th grade gymnasium dance.
This song brings me a nice memory hearing it LOUD for the first time with my dad right after installing a brand new Clarion stereo and equalizer to our car just after buying the cassette at a supermarket. I love Laura Branigan
She blew up in Europe. My brother lived in Germany in the late 80s. He brought back mix tapes that were all bangers. Funny how a melody brings back the memories. There is a country song called "State of mind" by clint black. Definitely up your alley. Love your reactions. I feel like we're bros.
Omg Laura Branigan!!! She was my Mom's favorite singer, I was almost named Gloria! 😆 We had 2 Himalayan Persians growing up, Solitaire was the Mom and Ti Amo was the runt of the litter and we ended up keeping her. Laura Branigan was my first concert ever! I found out someone used the pics my Mom took at the concert and put me in a video to the music with lyrics, so if anyone has ever seen that, that's me as a kid crawling on stage with Laura! 😂 This was an awesome surprise especially today on my birthday seeing this!! So awesome and love that your listening to different genres. She had such an incredible and powerful voice! Laura has so many amazing songs! Keep up the awesomeness! 🖤😸🖤
Laura Branigan rose to fame in the early 80's w/ her dance pop hits like 'Gloria' ... 'Solitaire'... It was her 3rd album 'Self control' in 1984 that gave her major star status in the 80's w/ hits like - 'The lucky one' ... 'Ti amo'... 🔥 She scored some more hit singles - 'Spanish Eddie' ... 'Power of love'... 'Forever young'... but her appeal dissipated by the late 80's/ early 90's. Unlike most of her single counterparts in the 80's, Laura Branigan was happily married when she was as aspiring singer and welcomed her children during her career... In the 90's, her husband was diagnosed w/ cancer and she quit her career to take care of him. Sadly, he passed away in 1996 and Branigan took time off from performing and recording. In 2002, Laura Branigan began performing live again, hoping for a comeback... Sadly, Laura Branigan passed away in 2004 from a brain aneurysm at age 52 (R.I.P.)
My Dad didn’t like new music he was a 50’s guy. But he loved her voice and Gloria was his favorite song she sang. When he passed I was going to the cemetery every day I was so lost without him. I got back in my car and asked my dad to send me a sign he was ok. When I started the car Gloria came on the radio. Do yourself a favor and play that one you will love it. 💜
I don't remember the year, but I actually got to see her live at the New York state fair when I was younger. She gave such an emotional performance. Her voice is so powerful.
The video I have never seen and could do without. The echoing "oh-oh-oh" is what I heard when I was working in a warehouse at the time this came out. Back when music was piped into the grocery store, likewise, that stuck in my head.
Yeah, well, the 80's nightlife and club culture could be wild 😉This track was in heavy rotation back then, and it does bring back some crazy memories. Her song "Gloria" was an even bigger hit.
This era was about women with power who claimed their sexuality, more than ever before. You need to check out some ladies of the 70’s and 80’s, their lyrics say it all. She was one of them. Edited to add: just because she was sexually open doesn’t make her a freak, that’s so sexist.
I have watched a lot of your reactions and this one was hilarious from your facial expressions to your comments. That's what is so cool about you, you react and say how you feel when watching videos.
I love her rendition of The Power of Love. I believe she actually quit to take care of her sick husband until he passed. Then she was going to make a come back, fell and broke both legs I believe. Eventually passed from an aunyresym. Too young . RIP Laura
