One pointer from an old equipment operator regarding getting a full bucket on the old bob cat. Pull up onto the pile of spoils up to the top, drop the bucket onto the pile then back drag it down until the bucket is flat onto the ground, then cat forward with the bucket flat. The idea is not to push into a stacked pile to reduce stress on the machine and get a much more full load in your bucket. Love your channel, keep up the good content.
I so enjoy your picture and comments. I am an old lady 78 and have always loved rocks. My pockets were always filled with rocks. I have ordered your picture stone. Thank you for what you do.
The energy you have is what makes your videos.. you sir DID earn my subscription and I’m having a hell of a time binging all your videos!!! Pls never stop
Really impressive series Dan! For anyone who doubted or wondered about the amount work required to go from panning maybe one or two cubic yards to processing 100 cubic yards this videos series really spell it out! Hope your staying safe in that extreme heat!
Dan doesn't need the headache of trying to produce "drama" for Discovery Channel. I stopped watching Gold Rush because it was too much like a soap opera.
Hi Dan! Just subscribed. I'm a Geologist and have mined placer in Central Africa (diamonds and gold), Ecuador (gold and platinum) as well as a short run in the Yukon at Clear Creek. One trick that I found to put a smile on your face is, once you have the terrace limits defined, look for the biggest tree. The biggest trees have the deepest roots which indicates the lowest points in the bedrock. Knock it down and mine below it. We'd keep pits like that for when we were a bit slim towards the end of the month. Grab 40 or more yards out of there and whappo, right on monthly target! It's also cheaper than drilling for grade. LOL. Love your content. Thank you so much for doing this.
Again..... Ouch!! No way Trout creek is paying for itself. We love watching you Dan and were really rooting for better cleanups. Much love from Northern California 😁🍻🍻⛏⛏⛏
Happy to see you mining and healthy, still enjoying my ocean picture stone purchased last year I gotta get a nugget one day, savin my pennies :) thanks for channel Dan.
I’m really enjoying this cluster of videos on the trout claim. I find the different equipment really fascinating. It’s a pretty expensive hobby though! I can’t wait for next weeks video to see how much gold you have altogether. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing another great adventure with us. I hope what is left makes up for the previous weeks. May God continue to bless you and your's Amen
You should make a second tailings pond next to the 1st one. If you connect them correctly you can have the silt settle in the 1st pond and the water to flow into the 2nd. It should help with the clogging problem on your jets
I learn something every time I watch your videos Dan! Welcome to my world - Phoenix in the summer! I hope the trees survive it ok. They aren't used to it! Thank you for the learning and the entertainment!
16:46 Regarding gold, magnetite sand, and magnets: Huh, I wouldn't have expected that! I had been meaning to ask you, "Why _don't_ you use a magnet?", rather than telling you that you _should_ use a magnet -- and now I know. ❤
I ran a spiral wheel for years, and switched to the Gold Cube invented by Mike Pung...... IMO, I'll take the cube every time for fine to coarse gold recovery.......
I've used the Spiral Gold Wheel before and yes it work really well. the shaker table does a good job too. Your equipment is just smaller, our dredge did 60 tons an hour and our the Spiral Gold Wheel was about twice as big.
Hi Dan, I might be crazy but in the railroad in europe we use to "wash" the ballast from smaller sand and breakdust, its because the ballasts property's gets better when clean... Its like a big vacuum cleaner that sucks up all gravel and spit out the small things like a big classifyer.... instead of a escavator a big vacuum cleaner... that wouldn't leave gold behind :o) ill never seen it to be used at gold mining. But it'll would work like a big dredge but dry...
Whenever I would watch the Spiral Wheel during a commercial operation, I felt like I was being hypnotized 😵😁 I personally use the Blue Bowl - I enjoy watching it, because it's sooo soothing and feels like meditation 😊
I had a problem with dirty water before as well here is how i fixed it , i took a 45 gallon drum , with a torch i made some slits into it , then i covred the outside with a thik felt material . i then put the water pump inside the 45 gallon drum and :VOILA : IT WORKED PERFECTLY . whoohooo . the felt does need a clean up one in a while depending on the dirt you are using , grest video . peace profound .
Yes Dan I love how you covered how you're supposed to go to the blacks and with the magnet several times that's one of my biggest things when I'm doing a clean up if I go to the black fan with the pinpointer blackfan magnet and I just really make sure I don't lose anything
Great video, as always! Hope you are safe from all the smoke and fires, on top of the intense heat. My prospecting area, and friends/family, were endangered by the River Fire here in California. Luckily the fire moved away from densely populated areas and was contained quickly! Please stay safe out there and hydrate!
according to my day job, they want us to drink 1 quart per hour while in the field. And for reference a quart is 1 l give or take. (if memory serves right that is litre or liter - the french version is larger than the SI kms, but feel free to correct me if this is incorrect.)
@@1noryb according to google, one imperial (uk) quart is 1136.5ml and one us quart is 946ml. So yes, under a liter for US quarts and over one for imperial! Not gonna lie, thats a good recommandation for heat wave and work.
Dan, Great series. Always interested to see the clean ups. Do you ever think you would do a video on the business side of gold mining that you are doing at trout creek. Breaking down costs and expenses visa via how much gold was produced?
Although an interesting subject,I think I would disagree because it’s invasive and encroaching upon his personal side of life which depending on the youtuber, may be too personal information sharing and I’d agree and support that . It’s youtube where hundreds of millions of people are on,and certainly several hundred thousand on this channel here .with that being said , I’d guess most of us are armchair enthusiasts and just love to learn and watch- and dream ☺️ The serious and also active prospectors definitely would love to know the financials of it and I understand completely. As they are probably interested in pursuing it further. I don’t know what to suggest here I’m merely an armchair enthusiast and adore the actual video footage of the outdoors with Dan,but I hope there would be a way of learning this somewhere
Hey Dan. I can't help but notice the big boulders coming off the grizzly are still covered in sand and dirt. I wonder how much is lost by not washing them? I only ask because of how small the gold is in that area.
Next cut should be better, the problem is it is at the edge of the old time miners main pit. We think we know where the edge is but won't be able to tell for sure till we start digging.
Hey Dan! The GOLD looked amazing...there were some really nice sized pieces in this run. Y'all keep up the great work...stay safe!! ((Hugs)) from Texas!! xx : )
Yes Dan, the mag picks up some of the gold, but what is the time differential between magging the good stuff and re-running it vs the time of waiting for the blacks to process through in the raw and trying to get it all in one pass? I personally pulls the mags, re-run the cons, and put the mags into a rock tumbler with juice, break the gold free, and run that again. You are going to process your tails anyway, so IMO making the initial separation quick keeps time down and that put towards the secondary run. Your mileage may vary.
Well, that sucks, and somehow I don't imagine next week is going to make up for the shortfall, either. At least you're all having fun, and I hope that between your various income streams, this adventure isn't going to leave too big a dent in the pocket book! ❤
Awesome video again! It’s been really fun watching a larger operation but while you were talking about lead it got me wondering what you do with some of those other things you find while mining?
Hey Dan great video! I heard your planning on doing a review video of minning magnets dry seperator, hope you do that would be awesome! Also I've been using the spiral to just get black sands separated from the blondes and then using the magnet seperator then to the blue bowl seems to working really well for me happy trails.

Testing a claim almost never makes money. But testing is how you determine if you put a large scale mine on a spot or not.
