Congrats on the cabin! I laughed when you mentioned the flip flops after an outing. I have done the same for years. In fact, now days I have a pair of those all plastic Birkenstocks that work well.
I just saw some of those Birkenstocks and was thinking they'd be great! I might have to pick up a pair.
