CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Steel Leg (Stephen Chow) fights a street gang using a soccer ball, so as not to use kung fu for violence.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
One of Hong Kong's top screen comics, Stephen Chow, co-wrote, co-directed, and headlines this three-way blend of sports, action, and humor. Sing (Stephen Chow) is a modern-day Shaolin monk who has become a master of traditional fighting skills, and is renowned for his "leg of steel." However, these days there isn't much call for a Shaolin warrior, and Sing and his fellow monks earn their keep working menial jobs until a soccer coach gets the bright idea of translating Sing's talent for kicking to the soccer field. Sing becomes the lynchpin of a team playing in a tournament that could net them a $1 million purse, but even with Sing's footwork, beating the steroid-fueled champions will be no easy task. Shaolin Soccer also features Man Tat Ng and Vicki Zhao.

I know, but i was actually being sarcastic. I mean the guys responsible for the effects were probably like "OMG we're gonna make everyone flying to show how strong the kicks were and everyone will be like OMG WTF THAT KICK SEND THEM FLYING" but the result today looks cheap and lacks every accuracy because the technology at that time wasn't ready for action of that level. That's what i meant by "ahead of their time" ;)

This isnt a movie. This is an experience. Only a handful of people from a certain generation will understand what a LEGENDARY movie this is.. I dont care if you are black white asian indian etc.... this movie is hands down one of the greatest cult classics of all time... a true Chinese masterpiece for the world of comedy to boast about for ages
This movie is about brotherhood and helping one another out. Great movie, watched it as a kid on VHS for the first time back in the early 2000's.

80s-early2000s Hong Kong cinema is why my standards are so high for live action anime adaptations. They were basically making live action anime for decades. Stephen Chow's movies in particular always hide such deep and thought provoking stories behind all the comedy.

It's a action comedy done around the beautiful sport of football. There's not too many good football movies that has a kungfu action flick similar to Crunching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
