I had a sleeping bag that my father gave me when I went away on my first camp at 8, it was army green and he even packed it into a surplus army kit bag. I went on many camps with it, and when the zipper broke dad cut it and Macgyvered it into it's next life, a quilt. I used that quilt for years, I would build forts in the living room with it, use it as a rug to play games on with my friends, and of course cover myself with it on cold nights. It lasted until I was 18 or 19, then it succumbed to one too many washes, was a sad, sad day, to think about it, that was with me for over 50% of my life at that time. I put it back in the army bag, but I sadly lost it somewhere over the past 10 or so years, I miss it, and I miss my dad. Thank you for reminding me of it, it is amazing how an object can become so personal, so cherished, I guess it is all in the memories of the times shared with it. I will always remember that unique smell when you open it up, the smell of campfire, cooking, childhood...cherished times. Love it all but my favorite thing is that old stove and the weathered boards it sits upon. When I first found you, Steve, you were camping in this tent and going to school. Since then I've bought 2 Gazelles and a Clam. I camped until late October. Thank you for the inspiration!!😁
When Steve said "It certainly is cozy in here, ah this old tent has done me well" I felt that. It felt like the end of a school year or semester that you enjoyed and on the last day you are the last person to leave, and shut the lights.

When I was younger I bike-packed from Texas to Missouri and learned that trick from a homeless guy out of Dallas. Apparently it's not uncommon in the stealth camping/hobo world. I ended up trying it out in Oklahoma on the roof of a mattress store that was being remodeled. i used a military surplus backpack back then so I didn't have to hump any other gear up the ladder. I remember it was in the upper 40s fahrenheit and raining so I slept under an overhang at the front of the building behind the sign in my sleeping bag and bivy. I had an inflatable sleeping pad so it was reasonably comfortable, but what I remember most of all was how safe it felt being on high ground with almost no chance of anyone else joining me up there.
@@imaramblins I've dealt with so many people like this at my job (hiring, firing). If they only used half of that effort and ingenuity(?) on more productive things, they could potentially get ahead in life.

@ Dude im am stoked. In every video, steve literally stands in a post card motive and i speechless. I just cannot decide where to go. Its not just hard to imagine how big the country is, its also hard to find a route to travel along. I try to avoid the usual touristic spots. TBH i'd rather live in the woods and help out a family with woodwork and go hiking instead of doing the regular vacation. I hope i manage to sort it all out.
Loved the 8 weeks of camping in that shack. Certainly got your use out of it. Looking forward to seeing the new one put through the motions. Think the wood stove in the tree house is a great idea.
The stove looks too warm. The scenery around the tent is so beautiful. I'm glad to see your great video again. From Woongkham, a South Korean UA-camr. 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍
Any covered pot you can bake in, can be considered a Dutch oven. The cast iron pot with a lipped lid to allow coals to be placed on top... I believe Napoleon had something to do with it's invention.
It's great to see the o'l stove out again. I remember when Steve found out that soft wood pellets burned the best and that even empty camp grounds can get high winds. He spent 8 weeks in this while he was going to school.

Bum-ba-dida Bum-ba-dida Happy trails to you, until we meet again..... so long good and faithful tent. As always thanks for the great video steve.
Hey Steve! Love your stuff, Edmonton misses you
Me too! I spent a whole year of university in an apartment that was unfurnished, a cot from a garage sale and a thermarest!
Great way to say goodbye. I enjoyed your camping trips using this tent. I think your trips in the new one will be awesome. I like the winter camping trips the best. No bugs andawesome scenery.
Almost forgot its thursday
"A little bit of garlic" proceeds to toss in whole jar
Also he said he got garlic butter so he wouldn't need garlic, then used it anyway.
There's no such thing as a"little bit" of garlic.
Always double whatever the recipe calls for.
I haven't even gotten to the jar yet but I'm assuming it's a single-serve jar.
(hint: all jars of garlic are a single serving)
You're not supposed to put that much in it. I'd hate to smell his breath after that.
@@cindythecatwoman1601 it's good for social distancing
Love it all but my favorite thing is that old stove and the weathered boards it sits upon. When I first found you, Steve, you were camping in this tent and going to school.
Since then I've bought 2 Gazelles and a Clam. I camped until late October.
Thank you for the inspiration!!😁
I'll be honest, I miss these videos with this tent and your stove. Those were some amazing videos.
Steve I totally get you man ! It kept you safe dry warm so many times ! God bless the wee tent you did sooooo well rest easy n enjoy yourself X
When Steve said "It certainly is cozy in here, ah this old tent has done me well" I felt that.
It felt like the end of a school year or semester that you enjoyed and on the last day you are the last person to leave, and shut the lights.
The only reason to look forward to Thursdays: Hunker Down, Step 2s and 'Camping with Steve.'
I love your videos Steve, you actually inspired me to go wild campng, much love from England!
You seem to be a good and humble person. Keep up the good work!
One minute after posting and there's already 33 comments! So happy to see you so popular Steve! Would love to see you cook a nice poutine some time! 🇨🇦
You are so down to earth camper and human, love your videos.
Thank you for the videos really love to watch them.
Step two, you rock.
I work in a restraunt that just had roof work done. They found a tent and chair. Thats some stealth action.
This guy took that one step further... Until he got busted.

Roofers (and painters) are a special bunch.
@@imaramblins I've dealt with so many people like this at my job (hiring, firing). If they only used half of that effort and ingenuity(?) on more productive things, they could potentially get ahead in life.
WM Luna I hear 👂 ya man / woman. I’ve said the same thing SO many times... if these people nearly as much effort into a real job (especially sales because they’re always so slick lol 😂) they could make SO much money 💰
You're a great guy Steve
That was a nice time-lapse of outside.
'in the darkest hours of the night" rip stobe!!!! Awesome you know that Steve!
As a senior member of UA-cam, I commend you on your channel and everything that you do. 🙂
I like that you show how to cook while camping. It has helped me to make menus for my own camping trips.
This channel changed alot for me. I am planning to travel from Europe to Canada next year. Cant wait. Thank you steve. Step 2
How many Step 2’s deep was Crazy Neighbor when he set the tent up inside out?
Several several step 2's haha
Probably none - and look what happened
The stove looks too warm. The scenery around the tent is so beautiful. I'm glad to see your great video again. From Woongkham, a South Korean UA-camr.
🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍
Any covered pot you can bake in, can be considered a Dutch oven. The cast iron pot with a lipped lid to allow coals to be placed on top... I believe Napoleon had something to do with it's invention.
It's hard to say goodbye to a favorite tent. It's like they have a soul.
It's great to see the o'l stove out again.
I remember when Steve found out that soft wood pellets burned the best and
that even empty camp grounds can get high winds. He spent 8 weeks in this
while he was going to school.
I love how you think and play Steve. You are my way of being able to camp every Thursday of every week.
Mmmmmmm
"In the darkest hours of the night " all hail stoeb the hobo . great video steve
RIP stoeb. ;(
RIP
Stobe the Hobo loved step two. R.I.P
Steve your video rock....cant wait to see that new hunker down home
One of the reasons i love to watch Steves Videos is cause he comes up with some awesome camping ideas. He is humble. He always calls his wife beautiful wife. Thing is if it ever came down to it i am sure steve could survive and be quite content!!!
when the lights go out..."woaah this takes me back" Steve surely "hunkered down" in that tent once or twice
We finally got a house with a large back yard down here in Tennessee and plenty of room for a fire pit, and I found an old Ozark Trail tent going through stuff at my Dad's and am planning on a backyard camping trip with my own beautiful wife soon! Thanks for being such a huge inspiration to all of us Steve!
Hey Steve..enjoy your videos..I have to say i am a little moved and touched as you are saying goodbye to your trusty tent..you guys have been through a lot togethere..i can't help but feel it actually reminds me of when two people are breaking up..you know..well you go your way and i'll go my way..lol..best of luck with future tent, and many happy memories will be created..cheers Steve..Larry from Hamilton,On. " CHEERS"
I bought a cargo trailer and built beds in it for my wife and two kids. Cheap diesel heater and I couldn’t be happier. Cheap, simple, comfortable. I will miss them !!
the editiing for this video when you were putting the ingredients into the pot was fantastic, keep up the good work
Hi Steve, I’m glad you slept through the robbery, it could have been seriously cheesy. Hi from 🇦🇺
She was a great tent. Served you well and lots of adventures on and off the channel.
"A little bit of garlic" proceeds to pour the entire bottle into the pot.
I love these hot tent videos Steve! Cannot wait to see your new tent, get a new stove!
STOBE!!! stobie one kanobi, as he said in some of his first creations! RIP stobe! See you conducting on the other side!
Ah Steve...you've outdone yourself. One of your best videos, was laughing all the way through it, and...good choice of a step 2! Was drinking a few Busch Lights as I watched. Cheers!
I remember living in a army tent as a child in Washington, while my family relocated. The cot you have reminds me of the old army cots we used, except ours had wood framing. Two kids foot to foot on a cot. I loved it!
Thank you Steve and beautiful wife! You bring joy and relaxation. Merry Christmas!
