No one can deny the influence John Wick has had on the cinematography of fight scenes. For the better in my opinion
yeah but I think Raid is more influential
Fox Trott And the raid that’s a good point
@@CGokce6 was just about to mention that
Please don’t let Michael Bay direct John Wick 4🥺
Fox Trott Well, you can say the Raid was more influential in the sense that it was the primary influence for John Wick’s action style. But John Wick due to how successful it was, had more of a direct influence on action flicks that came after cause it showed the Hollywood executives that people want to see these kinds of action movies
Tyler Rake kills a dude with.........a rake. Didn't see that coming.
and a cup...... and a table....... and even the broken parts of said rake
When you are in combat. use WHAT EVER you have in the inviorment to fight
I never made that connection
Oho so you too are a watcher of cinemasins 😏
Love the irony
Felt like Netflix's answer to John wick.
But I'm really happy that we're moving away from shaky camera and quick cut action.
Agreed, this personally I think is the best fight from the movie, with the knife fight followed right after.
Quick cut action of the bourne films is much better
Striker Bowls nah this is much much better. Quick cut action is shit, you feel each punch from scenes like this
Bruh EXACTLY!!!
@@strikerbowls791 if you into nauseating feeling and not knowing what side is winning the fight yeah sure Bourne franchise is much better
John wick: pencils
Chris Hemsworth:cups
Jason Bourne: magazine

Cliff Booth(Brad Pitt): Can of Dog Food
Riddick: Teacup
The Punisher: Dumbbells and Sledgehammers

1:31 that sweep kick tho damn🔥
Just a regular leg kick, a really common move in kickboxing. But Hemsworth's character has considerably more muscle mass and kicked the guy really hard, so yeah, it was very impressive to see.
@@VelociPurchaser nobody asked for all that

@underrated clusterfuck I appreciated the comment further explaining the move and correcting that it isn't a sweep kick.
You just hate reading or thinking? Both I take it.
I think it's a great detail that when the fight starts he is very precise with the AK and sweeps the room military style. He also fights like a trained soldier

More than John Wick, the fight scenes share the cinematic style of the Raid movies. Look the way the camera movies. While John Wick had a sassy and stylish feel to it, this has that dark and brutal aspect of the Indonesian movies.
And the use of environment.
Don't they speak the same? John and Rama fights with whatever is available, both are a deadly one man army yet they carry a deep and personal history, one is a Dad and the other a grieving husband who lost his wife and dog, This guy is no different, A spec op who lost his daughter saving a little boy to prevent a possible gang war.
It's just that while John Wick prefers to fight with a suit, a sharpened knife and a customised Taran Tactical AR-15 rifle, Indonesian movies fight with what's available, knives, batons, bats and hammers, heck even a fucking stove will do.
¿Whats mean raids movie?
Indeed, John Wick movies are shot more like samurai flicks. Wide shots, stationary camera angles, beautiful backgrounds.
This and Raid flicks go for more chaotic camera work that moves with the action.
@@aquarium7194 you dont know what you missed 😁 The raid 1&2 is arguably classics of action movies
Sam Hargrave, who not only plays the sniper in this movie, but was the writer, director and cameraman. He is brilliant!

I love how while he’s being precise and smart in this scene, he’s also fighting like a man who genuinely doesn’t care about the outcome. He takes risks that a man who has life goals just wouldn’t take and that’s great story telling for an action movie
This entire fight scene reminds me of the hallway fight scene in the Raid. You even get shoeless dudes coming at you with machetes in here. The parallels are great, and I’m not mad about it. Raid has some of the best action sequences to have ever graced the states (alongside John Wick) and now I include this movie. Fantastic choreography, and brutal
As someone who does Brazilian jiu jitsu, I was SO EXCITED seeing several kinds of bjj/judo techniques, defenses, and even the use of distance management!! Using his legs to push away the attacker while he was in a less optimal position with his back on the ground, defense of the rear naked choke while standing, the shoulder throw, the sorta “ghost sweep” into anaconda (so epic) where he got the ultimate rake submission😅 Was watching this with my parents, jumping up and down like a little girl, even though I am a little girl haha

I love how John Wick has become the new standard of action and has done away with the damage the Bourne movies made to action camera work.
Doug Liman's "The Bourne Identity" didn't really have excessive shaky cam in it. That honor actually goes to Paul Greengrass's "Supremacy" and "Ultimatum."
Nah i dont think so. The Raid did it first.
All the fight scenes of this movie are great. You can feel every punch with details...
