The raptor liner takes 7-9days to fully cure until it does it stays rubbery like that I did an aluminum boat 2 years ago been in my yard exposed to Arizona sun and u can throw rocks @ it as hard as u want and we still haven't been able to chip or really dent it but took 7 days in da az hot dry sun to cure but once it did no more rubbery feel and also still havent had any sun fade neither & its still got that gloss to it too

Its usually around 5-7 days for full cure on the Raptor, Doug. You will find it feels rubberized after just one day of dry time.
Give the raptor a week and it will be as hard as nails! It has been used in many many Horse Boxes over here in the UK and withstands months of Abuse from Horse Hooves and Urine etc etc.

That por15 is some cool stuff. Now take the test bar and bend it and tell us how much came off. Also when you coat bare metal with it , it acts like or better than a etching primer, every thing you put on top of it sticks to it better than plain primer. I've used it this way for a handful of projects that will see road salt and off road use. The paint may chip off but the por15 is still there to keep the metal sealed up.

3 steps and advice: 1) Mechanically clean= bead or sand blast, or sander, #250. No wire brush or grinder BS. Surface must be rough for tooth. 2) Chemically clean= Easy-off, Muriatic acid, or a "Metal Prep" type product. 3) Thin coats, and must fully cure. Heating a 1qt. plastic container of the brush-on type in a microwave to +250F is ideal; it will adhere better, flow better, heal brush strokes easier, and dry faster. Be very careful- HOT bed liner is nasty dangerous, like HOT tar road asphalt (+300F).

The only reason Rafa is getting that clear so smooth is because its very soft paint. Its not something thats going to last. You need some spray-max 2k clear Doug. I think you used it before on something.

Can you gouge test dash paint? Keys are bound to come in contact with the surface.
You could also try rolling the raptor liner on. From my experience you also get a smoother finish

Dougie fresh. What is you doing baby?! Linex that box...scuff proof, ding proof. And if they turn the heat up when they spray it they can make the texture smaller. Then just powder coat that rack. Wetsand the rack and reclear it for that super high gloss weeeeet finish.

You should look into Spray Max 2k Clear. It's an aerosol clear that is two part. A button on the bottom on the can activates the catalyst and makes the clear coat very durable like a true automotive clear.

Hey Doug...SERIOUS question for a second. I seen you guys use CT Sounds, JL audio, Infinity, and Alpine speakers throughout the shows. which brand would you really bank on though or you'd consider your favorite?
+DonTouchME I suggest to spend a little money and grab an Audison processor and save a little money and grab some CT Sounds Strato components, and try an active setup 😊👌
Then grab any cool sub and see how much you can get out of it with a nice box design...
It's not so much about which brand is best, but what kind of install you can pull off and what your end result is. :))
Speaker placement and tuning is more important than equipment brand choice.

Doug, I wonder if a synthetic wax like Nu-Finish would work well to seal and protect your new wet wet. Two coats will add more wet wet, you can feel it. I've used it on headlights with success to protect against the Arizona sun. I heard JetSeal works fantastic for that but it is pricey
never set sand in circles because when you buff the clear it's easier to buff out straight cut lines the circle because the polishing pad spins in a circle .

When you use the raptor the distance away from the panel effects it a lot also ...try hanging back more I think it makes a more durable finish and you won't get that rubberized result as much

Doug, for the love of God, get a paint gun, 1.2 or 1.3 fluid nozzle, a good clear coat system like ppg dc3000, or DuPont 72500s and learn what wet really is.
I would clear coat both the bed liner and the POR15 on the amp rack.
