In regards to the transmission hunting for a moment when you floored it on the HWY that is pretty normal when you have a vehicle/transmission that adapts to the driver over time. The adaption is pretty aggressive early on as well. This vehicle/transmission is dealing with many different drivers and is early in adaption. I'm not a fan of the current gen Colorado/Canyon but this new gen really has my attention. Torque is king and all power levels have more torque than HP down low and that is important. Great review.
Yup very similar to the 2019 Ranger when it first came out. All the reviewers criticized the 10 speed, but actual owners love it. Apparently most new transmissions take a few thousand miles to “learn” exactly how you drive and react accordingly. It’s an interesting concept, but makes sense considering how complex vehicles are these days.

As a very satisfied current owner of a 2019 crew cab 4x4 V6, WT short bed I feel the new truck looks better and has some great features. However you mentioned the 4 WD control in what you said was an LT. But if you go on line to build your own, the WT and LT do not have a two speed transfer case available at all. Also your able to get the HO version tune at the dealer for under $400! The lowest trim for that is Trail Boss. I’m sure, that like in mine, if I engage Tow/Haul mode, there’s very little hesitation in the trans downshift.

It’s supposed to be a mid sized truck not a luxury vehicle. The price as shown is more than the average yearly income in the U.S. Insanity
This is why I’m keeping my 2016 Silverado WT for a few more years. Good full sized truck, no payment, and still looks great for its age. A truck is a truck.
By the way, the Colorado/ Canyons have never had a gasoline turbo option until this year, with the 2.7. It was a 2.5 N/A 4 cyl, a 2.8 Turbo diesel DuraMax, and the 3.6 V6
I’ve tested my 22’ Canyon 2WD with the 3.6l v6 0-60 on multiple occasions in dry conditions, and my best times are in the 6.2 to 6.5 second range. I’m willing to bet the 2WD version of the mid-range and high output trim levels of this truck would post just as good if not better numbers. The 4x4’s are HEAVY, and I think they’re even heavier than the last gen.
@@troyg3439 That’s not why they’re heavier. There’s a whole lot more to it than just being a crew cab. The wheel base is longer than the previous generation, torsional rigidity has been increased which requires more metal, and there’s just more of everything. And the 4x4s actually put on an additional 350-400 lbs, depending on trim level.
