    Helpful, thank you. Our seeds are about 3 yrs old but I'll give it a go and put the pots in the loft where it is warm because the indoor fire burns 24 hrs in the winter. We are from Australia and I can tell you some areas get cold. The area we live in gets heavy frost & winter temps range -10⁰ C , average winter day temp approx 16⁰.

      Good luck with these trees, I don't think they handle freezing temperatures and frost that well, but you can try and grow it as an indoor plant.

    Hi Tony, thank you for the video. Mine is about 3-4cm high and only have 2 leaves now. May I ask when should I put it under the sun? I’m located in QLD, I don’t know if the morning sunshine will be too strong for seedling.

      They should be able to hand a bit of sun at this stage, although a bit of shade shouldn't hurt. When they start growing more leaves, you can give them some more morning sun, they should enjoy it.

      I do have all the clips recorded for an update but I haven't put them together yet. I did give 2 of them away as I don't have that much space for all those plants.

    Can you tell me how much cold can tolerate this tree? ...👍🏻🍻

      This tree is native to Queensland but it has been grown further south. Online sources state it can tolerate some light frost but for optimal growing, I wouldn't recommend exposing it to frost. I find it can grow very quickly if it gets enough warmth over spring and summer, and it can tolerate being an a pot for a long time.

      They can handle quite a bit of sun, especially once they get established.

    How do you manage the temperature in your mini green house I find mine get too hot!!

    • @TobyJin
      @TobyJin  2 роки тому +1

      The only real way that I can manage the heat is by opening it or closing it, as most of my plants that I have in there don't really mind the heat, I don't cool it down. However, I keep it open when I can as good airflow is crucial for healthy plants. The main reason that I have the greenhouse is that my cacti can get sufficient light and have a cover to protect them from the rain.

    Can i grow the seeds in November?

    • @TobyJin
      @TobyJin  4 роки тому

      If you live in a warm climate, you can sow them as soon as the seeds are ripen from the tree, if not, you can sow the seeds and grow them under grow lights or in indoor conditions as some people use Brachychiton as indoor plants, I am not quite sure how long the seeds last tho

    Might be better on a window sill indoors to avoid the slugs.

      You could do that if you wished, I tend to stay away from growing plants indoors due to poor aeration and lighting which is why I keep them outdoors. Plus since winters are not that cold where I live, they can enjoy their dormancy safely.

      I live in Ontario, Canada. I have been growing a Queensland bottle tree in my dining room since 1987. It's about 3 feet tall, I've kept it trimmed back. Repotted it 4 times. The roots are bigger than the tree trunk. The trunk is about the same girth as my thumb, roots are about the size of my wrist. I grew one from a cutting before, gave it to a friend, she killed it.
      When I purchased in a grocery store back in 1987, there were two, I bought 1 and the cashier bought the other. She killed hers. I was told it was called a "love tree". I could never find any information on it. It was just this year, my husband had an app on his phone that identified it as a Queensland bottle tree. I was so happy to finally get some information on it. I think I did pretty good taking care of my tree for 34 years, not knowing what it was.

      I found them under some mature trees (the ones in the thumbnail).
