  • Is it time to replace your deionizer (DI) resin? This is how to replace it the correct way.
    ℹ️ About this Episode:
We go over step by step how to replace the resin in the On The Go Double Standard Mixed Bed Deionizer. These steps are very similar for the On The Go water softeners as well. Once your deionizer (DI) is no longer producing laboratory grade water, it may be time to replace the resin. Replacing the resin is an easy process if it's done the correct way.
A good DI can keep your RV spot free when used in the rinsing stage and also save you a lot of time because you don't have to dry the RV anymore.

I bought a water Deionizer (Double Standard size) from Adams Polishes last summer when it was on sale. It looks identical to yours except for the color and name. I'm sure On The Go manufactures it for Adams. It has been great for washing my wife's car, my truck and our 5th Wheel. I use the bypass for initial wetting of the vehicle and the washing and only used deionized water for the final rinse. It's worked very well. I have on occasion had a water spot but rarely. Probably from where I didn't rinse well enough or the heat has dried the water faster than I could get it rinsed off. Water Deionizers aren't cheap but they sure do prevent headaches and the need to clay bar every time I wash a vehicle.

We do the same, we only use our DI for the final rinse, if not, we'd be going through a lot of resin. It sounds like you feel the same way we do, we love our DI and the time it saves us. They are expensive, but after doing a couple washes you realize how nice they are.

Thanks for this video - great job! We just purchased one to wash cars at the house and have gotten about 15-20 washes and was looking for instructions on how to change it. We noticed a smell on the last few washes - is this an indication that the resin is going bad? Does anyone else get the smell?

@TheDanFrancis thank you for watching our video and leaving a comment. We love our deionizer and have had it for over a year now. We never noticed any bad smells. We use the analyzer that came with the deionizer to test the water when we think it's getting close to the resin needing to be changed, or if we start to see some spotting.
