Rivers To Ridges RV
United States
Приєднався 29 гру 2020
Hey, we're Dan, Deena, and Rodeo (the Golden Retriever who runs the place) and we're living life to the fullest traveling the US in our 44 foot Momentum Toy Hauler RV. It took us many years to realize we were not taking advantage of all that life has to offer and we started to get the feeling life was passing us by. Because of this, along with work related stress, a couple of medical scares, and a few family losses, we decided something needs to change - and change soon. We wanted to feel alive again! We decided to sell our house and most of our belongings. We bought an RV and started living life to the fullest. Join us on our full time RV life journey as we learn and grow with each new adventure. Our videos document our travels all over North America, RV projects and RV tips and tricks. Be sure to subscribe so you will be notified when each new video is released. 😉
Lone Pine CA - Surprised Us With Two Must See Attractions (RV Living)
Have you ever wondered what small towns across the US have to offer? Lone Pine, California, offers something we never expected.
ℹ️ *About this Episode:*
Rodeo and I spent a week in Lone Pine, California, while Deena was back in Florida with our daughter and her family. We didn't expect to see much while in Lone Pine, but we were in for a big surprise.
There are literally hundreds of movies shot in and around Lone Pine, as well as many of the old westerns you may remember. Lone Pine has the Museum of Western Film History, which showcases many of these old westerns and is worth the time to visit.
The Manzanar National Historic Site is just north of Lone Pine and is another must-see location. It's a sad part of our national history but worth seeing and experiencing.

You sweet talker Dan. Danette just leaned over and said "That sounds like something you'd say!"
@chemcody5119 I sure hope I didn't say something bad? Or, even worst, something corny?😀 safe travels Dan

What A great video. We had a similar experience on one of our trips to Monument Valley. A lot of John Wayne movies directed by John Ford We filmed there. We enjoyed watching his old movies to see if we could find the places we saw. Thanks for sharing.
@RVacationer that's so cool. We actually stayed at an RV park called "John Wayne's Waterfront Resort" in Sequim, WA last month. I thought it was just a John Wayne fan who owned it, but I found out, John Wayne used to own the park. He also donated some land next to the RV park to the city and the city built the "John Wayne Marina". Apparently, when he wasn't filming, he spent a lot of time in Sequim. I was also told one of his sons still lives in the area. (I can't verify that). It's amazing the history of some of our small towns. Sending continued prayers for your daughter & your whole family. take care Dan
Can you walk on a roof of a travel trailer?
@frankmcclellan9506 All travel trailers are different so it is best to check with the manufacture to make sure your roof is safe to walk on. However, if your travel trailer has a built-in ladder on it, then it is most likely safe to walk on. If you are not sure, don't rely on my answer or anyone else, check with your manufacture to be sure. Dan
Which product works the best to get of Black streaks
@frankmcclellan9506 we like Simple Green, but a lot of people are starting to talk about LA's Totally Awesome All Purpose Cleaner. It is cheap and can be purchased at Dollar General or on Amazon. Here is the Amazon link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007F19O8G Hope this helps Dan
I just bought an RV with this but with the salt caddy extension does that mean I just but the salt in the caddy and how does that affect regeneration?
@daved9486 I don't have the salt caddy extension so I can't answer your question, sorry. I would suggest looking for the instructions on their web site at: www.portablewatersoftener.com/ or calling for support at: 1.866.482.9614 Dan
@@RiversToRidgesRVthanks - I am learning - I sent them an email and it looks like the caddy is used for the regeneration and then when not doing that you have a sediment filter. Do you use a water filter at the spigot?
@@RiversToRidgesRV looking closer I actually have a different brand than yours. It is the H2) mobile
Yes, I use a water filter inline before the water softener. Dan
@@RiversToRidgesRV that was my thinking, thank you for the replies. So, I actually have a very large basement storage area in my fifth wheel (I can sit in there) and I have the utility area behind a wall of my water manifold - with plenty of room to install this with easy access. I am going to put a drip pan with a drip line that will run perpendicular and straight underneath the camper - so this system will be level, protected, concealed and easy to get to for when I need to do the regeneration, etc.
Can you do a current review on your Roadmaster Slipper Springs. How’s the ride? How’s the tires wearing?
@jeepn4us thanks for the great idea. Let me give it some thought to see if I can come up with a video. So far we are very happy with the new suspension. We haven't had any issues and the tires seem to be wearing well. We are going back to Henderson's Line-Up later this year (they installed the RoadMaster Slipper Springs) to get our bearings repacked and an alignment. I will ask them to do an inspection of the suspension while we are there to make sure everything is still ok. If you have any questions, you can email us and I'd be happy to answer if I can. Dan

What a wonderful way to look back on year 3! Looking at your Elkhart segment brought back memories for us, too. We'll have to watch this video again to write down all the cool places you visited. They look like so much fun! Did one of the bridges have a glass floor? That looked fun and scary!! 😁😳
@ShellysNest Thank you! We've definitely made some incredible memories living this lifestyle! That bridge is the Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA - it has a glass bottom & is pretty amazing! Hope y'all are enjoying your travels! Stay safe!🥰 Deena & Dan
The one scene where it was foggy and snow reminds us of our 1 day trip to Bar Harbor. We were passing thru and decided to do a bus tour through the park. We couldn't see a thing. 😢 Looks like yall have a lot of great experiences and memories to share. Be safe, let me know if you're ever close to North Alabama.
@RVacationer Sounds like you guys will need to go back to Bar Harbor sometime! The same thing happened to us while visiting Mt. Rainier NP - even after being there for a week, due to being "socked in", we never did actually see Mt. Rainier but we still enjoyed the park. Thank you - we will definitely let you know when we're in the northern AL area! Have a great week!☺️ Deena & Dan
Extend the brush handle a bit more to help yourself. Also look into the Unger extending pole system. All parts are replaceable. I don't think the head is replaceable on that brush and in comparison it does not extend very far. I used a product called 30 Seconds earlier today and it was not slippery. I was wearing Chacos hiking shoes and I was in a hurry, sitting on your butt and using the brush is my preferred method. I suspect Dawn puts a lot of effort into getting their products used for different things but we don't use due to EWG ratings but I do have a mechanic brother that will use for his laundry and double rinse. Murphys Oil is not that sort of product, even recommends not using on floors. Thank you for the comparison.
Thanks for the info on the Unger poles, we'll look into it. Also, I like the idea of sitting down while cleaning, might help save my back after a long day. Safe Travels Dan
Why use trip wizard when you have base camp? Seems like a lot of extra trouble.
@dbyers35750 Thanks for watching & writing in. When Trip Wizard is configured with the dimensions of your RV, it will create an RV friendly travel route. I don't believe Base Camp can do that. Dan
Probably 40 years ago I did a cross country motorcycle 🏍 trip and tented at the KOA. Went to the B B Center, a real rodeo, Yellowstone, the entire Bear Tooth Highway, and back to Ohio. 3 weeks to cram everything in. Too much to see, never enough time.
@johnlenart597 that sounds like an awesome trip! We loved driving the Bear Tooth Highway, but we couldn't do the whole thing because of flooding. So, when are you going to do the trip again? 😀 Dan
Being from Colorado, I gotta say. Rocky Mtn National Park suuuucks! What a parking lot! Please do a lap through it, especially if you’ve never been at altitude. But there are many other places in Colorado that smack RMP down lol! Sadly Colorado is only ok to camp during the week. Weekends are a complete joke. Ouray, /telluride are amazing. Especially for 4 wheeling. Most of the Amazing camping is not for RVs of course.
@Nk-bc1qb We're really sorry to hear this but being in the same situation being from South FL & all it has to offer, we totally understand where you're coming from. We loved Quray but sadly, we missed out on visiting Telluride - definitely hoping to make it there someday! Thanks for watching & providing your feedback. Have a great week! Deena & Dan
So what's your favorite out of the way low key never busy, easy to park Colorado rv site?
@azteacher26 That will be hard to answer. I still work a full time job so when we look for RV sites, we always look for full hookups and a clear view of the sky for my Starlink to work. That limits us to the places we can stay. For example, we never boondock. So, I would say our favorite, somewhat out of the way, spot in Colorado is Silverton or Ouray. Thank you for the question Dan
Have a great week guys 😊
Thanks Rick, hope you have a great week also.
And you get to meet amazing people!!
@chemcody5119 Absolutely!! That is definitely the best of the best part!! Miss you guys! Happy 4th!❤️🤍💙 Deena & Dan
People should also visit parts of the Cleveland Metro Parks called The Emerald Necklace. It's probably 100 miles long surrounding the Cleveland area. It's always nice seeing my hometown area, thanks!
@philzail2532 Thanks for watching & writing in & providing this info! Sadly, we did not have time to visit ThexEmerald Necklace area but we hope to someday! We are so happy you enjoyed the video - makes us feel so good! Have a great 4th & enjoy your week!❤️🤍💙 Deena & Dan
Sounds like you're having a great time out west! We're hoping to do that trip next summer. Love the format. What a cool way to help travel day be more fun! We'll be in Maine in a few days! Safe travels and enjoy your summer!
@ShellysNest Hey! - Thanks so much! We are so loving the PNW! - so much beauty! You guys will really love it too! Yes, travel day videos are the way to travel - especially if it's a long travel day! It goes by so much faster! Enjoy Maine! We love Maine! We highly recommend trying out a lobster pound - The Travelin' Lobster was our personal favorite! Also, don't miss out on trying a slice of blueberry pie alamode from any of the restaurants! Miss you guys! Safe travels! XOXO
What is the purpose of using the two different cleaners?
@DestinyYarbrough-bw3xp thank you for watching and leaving a comment. The "Evap Foam No Rinse" evaporator coil cleaner is used for cleaning the evaporator coils. The biggest advantage to using this is that you don't have to rinse it off after cleaning which could lead to water getting into your RV due to the placement of the coils, also it comes with a brush to clean the coils. The "Frost King Foaming Cleaner" is another great product, but you have to rinse it off with water once done. I like to rinse off all the chemicals when feasible, but I also don't want to get water dripping into my RV. So, I use the Frost King for most of the A/C and rinse it off once done, but use the Evap Foam No Rinse where I don't want to rinse it off with water. It's more of a personal preference. Dan
Thanks for the high level explanation🙂
@0004racer glad it wasn't too 'low-level' for you. 😀 (inside joke)

@martinparmer Thanks for watching. Sorry, never heard of it. Dan
this is all beautiful. the towpath trail runs all the way to downtown cleveand and all the way south to new philadelphia, ohio. the norther Canal Way Visitor center in Cuyahoga Hts. with a towpath trail, reclaimed canal and wetlands and a working trestle railroad bridge (roughly E. 49th area) is also amazing to see. So amazing, that when the Rolling Stones were in Cleveland June 2024, Mick Jagger walked the trail and posted a picture with the trestle bridge!
@hermanmunster Thank you for sharing this info! Very cool! It was such a beautiful place & we've had so many people give us great feedback on our video. Thanks Rick! Have a great week! Dan
Looks easy! Good info thanks!
@papafredrosebush yes it was easy and worth it to be able to see out our window again. Thanks for watching and the comment. Dan
How do you know this Dan? Did you watch a UA-cam video? Where did you get the replacement glass? Thanks for sharing this.
@RamblinRoadies I had an idea on how to do it, but I actually called & confirmed it with Lippert's customer service! The windows are from Lippert so I had to order a new sash from Lippert. Thanks for watching! Safe travels.👍 Dan & Deena
Nicely done Dan!
Thanks, Chem! Hope you guys are doing well. Deena & Dan
My favorite RV roof cleaner is LA's Totally Awesome. I purchase it at Dollar General for $3 for a 64 oz bottle. It also works great for removing the black streaks that form on the sides of the RV that flow down from the roof.
@seantonnesen1636 thank you so much for the information, maybe we'll give it a try some day. Dan
I totally agree. This roof is not even dirty compared to my mom's RV which is kept at a forest site (with pine trees) year round. She has used Simple Green, Zep, many different ones from the RV stores and this year 30 seconds. The others eventually clean, like after 2-3 go overs. Each time I end up going back with the LAs. She used to use Scrubby Bubbles on the awnings, again LAs did great. Of course read how to dilute it properly. Was even able to clean out the clogged rain tracks with the hose after using LA's to deal with the algae build up. Only issue with the LAs is there is a not a UV protector or conditioner/wax in there. Either way it is the easiest to get the gunk off and can go back and add what is needed. I also use it as a deck cleaner, furniture cleaner, kayak/gear cleaner, BBQ and refreshes patio cushions....again dilute as on label. A 1/4 cup in a wash load or tub of water (again kayak gear/life jackets/feather pillows) cleans/freshens musty/moldy fabrics. I mix it and put in a pump sprayer for application on he RV then scrub/rinse.
@TH-eb5ro thank you for the information. I'll have to check with my RV manufacturer to see if it's safe to use on my roof, if so, I will have to give it a try. thanks Dan
I watched a video awhile ago where I seen a man using 30 seconds Cleaner, looked as the RV had a lot of mold and mildew buildup on his roof and it cleaned it up very nicely. Have you seen that product?
@budnuttall7903 Sorry, we have never heard of it. Dan

I have the 1090 so I found this video quite interesting. Typically I do all of my planning in TW and before each travel day I will input the address of my next destination and then follow my Garmin GPS. I have found on occasion slight differences in routing between TW and Garmin so to be safe I follow where Garmin route me. My question is "when you input your TW planned trip route which device takes presidence over the safest routing. Does Garmin correct the TW route to safely get you to your destination or just route you where TW thinks you should go? I tend to believe Garmin has much more experience in routing but them maybe they both get their data from the same source, I don't know.
@MonacoMike Honestly I don't import my TW routes into the Garmin much anymore. I use TW for all my planning and general routing. However, on travel day I use my Garmin and compare the Garmin route with the TW route just to make sure there are no major differences. Usually the routes are similar and if not, I'll do a closer comparison before traveling. My Garmin is aware of the height and length of my RV, so it should give me a safe route. Depending on your settings, Garmin and TW can use different algorithms to determine routes, that is why there may be differences at times. Hope this helps Dan
@@RiversToRidgesRV I do the same thing as I trust Garmin more than RVTW to safely route us to our destination. That said I have gotten some suspicious directions from Garmin but they weren't bad or got me into trouble, just maybe a few extra miles of driving.
@MonacoMike I always try to check my routes the night before, just to make sure everything looks ok, and it gives me a chance to look at satellite views of turns and other things I want to double check. It also gives me a change to look at the entrance to the RV park and places near by so I know when I'm getting close.
I've been to Hoover Dam a few times, but I have never taken the tours. Thanks for the great video of your tour. Very interesting.
@charliebahn540 Thanks so much, Charlie! We enjoyed the tour even more than we expected! It was interesting & mind-boggling! LOL! Have a great week!☺️ Deena & Dan
