Lone Pine CA - Surprised Us With Two Must See Attractions (RV Living)
Have you ever wondered what small towns across the US have to offer? Lone Pine, California, offers something we never expected.
ℹ️ *About this Episode:*
Rodeo and I spent a week in Lone Pine, California, while Deena was back in Florida with our daughter and her family. We didn't expect to see much while in Lone Pine, but we were in for a big surprise.
There are literally hundreds of movies shot in and around Lone Pine, as well as many of the old westerns you may remember. Lone Pine has the Museum of Western Film History, which showcases many of these old westerns and is worth the time to visit.
The Manzanar National Historic Site is just north of Lone Pine and is another must-see location. It's a sad part of our national history but worth seeing and experiencing.

    What A great video. We had a similar experience on one of our trips to Monument Valley. A lot of John Wayne movies directed by John Ford We filmed there. We enjoyed watching his old movies to see if we could find the places we saw. Thanks for sharing.

      @RVacationer that's so cool. We actually stayed at an RV park called "John Wayne's Waterfront Resort" in Sequim, WA last month. I thought it was just a John Wayne fan who owned it, but I found out, John Wayne used to own the park. He also donated some land next to the RV park to the city and the city built the "John Wayne Marina". Apparently, when he wasn't filming, he spent a lot of time in Sequim. I was also told one of his sons still lives in the area. (I can't verify that). It's amazing the history of some of our small towns. Sending continued prayers for your daughter & your whole family. take care Dan

    Can you walk on a roof of a travel trailer?

    • @RiversToRidgesRV
      @RiversToRidgesRV 4 дні тому

      @frankmcclellan9506 All travel trailers are different so it is best to check with the manufacture to make sure your roof is safe to walk on. However, if your travel trailer has a built-in ladder on it, then it is most likely safe to walk on. If you are not sure, don't rely on my answer or anyone else, check with your manufacture to be sure. Dan

      @@RiversToRidgesRV that was my thinking, thank you for the replies. So, I actually have a very large basement storage area in my fifth wheel (I can sit in there) and I have the utility area behind a wall of my water manifold - with plenty of room to install this with easy access. I am going to put a drip pan with a drip line that will run perpendicular and straight underneath the camper - so this system will be level, protected, concealed and easy to get to for when I need to do the regeneration, etc.

    Can you do a current review on your Roadmaster Slipper Springs. How’s the ride? How’s the tires wearing?

    • @RiversToRidgesRV
      @RiversToRidgesRV 11 днів тому

      @jeepn4us thanks for the great idea. Let me give it some thought to see if I can come up with a video. So far we are very happy with the new suspension. We haven't had any issues and the tires seem to be wearing well. We are going back to Henderson's Line-Up later this year (they installed the RoadMaster Slipper Springs) to get our bearings repacked and an alignment. I will ask them to do an inspection of the suspension while we are there to make sure everything is still ok. If you have any questions, you can email us and I'd be happy to answer if I can. Dan

    Extend the brush handle a bit more to help yourself. Also look into the Unger extending pole system. All parts are replaceable. I don't think the head is replaceable on that brush and in comparison it does not extend very far. I used a product called 30 Seconds earlier today and it was not slippery. I was wearing Chacos hiking shoes and I was in a hurry, sitting on your butt and using the brush is my preferred method. I suspect Dawn puts a lot of effort into getting their products used for different things but we don't use due to EWG ratings but I do have a mechanic brother that will use for his laundry and double rinse. Murphys Oil is not that sort of product, even recommends not using on floors. Thank you for the comparison.

    Being from Colorado, I gotta say. Rocky Mtn National Park suuuucks! What a parking lot! Please do a lap through it, especially if you’ve never been at altitude. But there are many other places in Colorado that smack RMP down lol! Sadly Colorado is only ok to camp during the week. Weekends are a complete joke. Ouray, /telluride are amazing. • @RiversToRidgesRV
      @RiversToRidgesRV 19 днів тому

      @azteacher26 That will be hard to answer. I still work a full time job so when we look for RV sites, we always look for full hookups and a clear view of the sky for my Starlink to work. That limits us to the places we can stay. For example, we never boondock. So, I would say our favorite, somewhat out of the way, spot in Colorado is Silverton or Ouray. What is the purpose of using the two different cleaners?

    • @RiversToRidgesRV
      @RiversToRidgesRV 22 дні тому

      @DestinyYarbrough-bw3xp thank you for watching and leaving a comment. The "Evap Foam No Rinse" evaporator coil cleaner is used for cleaning the evaporator coils. The biggest advantage to using this is that you don't have to rinse it off after cleaning which could lead to water getting into your RV due to the placement of the coils, also it comes with a brush to clean the coils. The "Frost King Foaming Cleaner" is another great product, but you have to rinse it off with water once done. I like to rinse off all the chemicals when feasible, but I also don't want to get water dripping into my RV. So, I use the Frost King for most of the A/C and rinse it off once done, but use the Evap Foam No Rinse where I don't want to rinse it off with water. It's more of a personal preference. Dan

      @RamblinRoadies I had an idea on how to do it, but I actually called & confirmed it with Lippert's customer service! The windows are from Lippert so I had to order a new sash from Lippert. Thanks for watching! Safe travels.👍 Dan & Deena

    My favorite RV roof cleaner is LA's Totally Awesome. I purchase it at Dollar General for $3 for a 64 oz bottle. It also works great for removing the black streaks that form on the sides of the RV that flow down from the roof.

      I totally agree. This roof is not even dirty compared to my mom's RV which is kept at a forest site (with pine trees) year round. She has used Simple Green, Zep, many different ones from the RV stores and this year 30 seconds. The others eventually clean, like after 2-3 go overs. Each time I end up going back with the LAs. She used to use Scrubby Bubbles on the awnings, again LAs did great. Of course read how to dilute it properly. Was even able to clean out the clogged rain tracks with the hose after using LA's to deal with the algae build up. Only issue with the LAs is there is a not a UV protector or conditioner/wax in there. Either way it is the easiest to get the gunk off and can go back and add what is needed. I also use it as a deck cleaner, furniture cleaner, kayak/gear cleaner, BBQ and refreshes patio cushions....again dilute as on label. A 1/4 cup in a wash load or tub of water (again kayak gear/life jackets/feather pillows) cleans/freshens musty/moldy fabrics. I mix it and put in a pump sprayer for application on he RV then scrub/rinse.

      @TH-eb5ro thank you for the information. I'll have to check with my RV manufacturer to see if it's safe to use on my roof, if so, I will have to give it a try. thanks Dan

    I watched a video awhile ago where I seen a man using 30 seconds Cleaner, looked as the RV had a lot of mold and mildew buildup on his roof and it cleaned it up very nicely. Have you seen that product?

    I have the 1090 so I found this video quite interesting. Typically I do all of my planning in TW and before each travel day I will input the address of my next destination and then follow my Garmin GPS. I have found on occasion slight differences in routing between TW and Garmin so to be safe I follow where Garmin route me. My question is "when you input your TW planned trip route which device takes presidence over the safest routing. Does Garmin correct the TW route to safely get you to your destination or just route you where TW thinks you should go? I tend to believe Garmin has much more experience in routing but them maybe they both get their data from the same source, I don't know.

      @RiversToRidgesRV Місяць тому

      @MonacoMike Honestly I don't import my TW routes into the Garmin much anymore. I use TW for all my planning and general routing. However, on travel day I use my Garmin and compare the Garmin route with the TW route just to make sure there are no major differences. Usually the routes are similar and if not, I'll do a closer comparison before traveling. My Garmin is aware of the height and length of my RV, so it should give me a safe route. Depending on your settings, Garmin and TW can use different algorithms to determine routes, that is why there may be differences at times. Hope this helps Dan

      @@RiversToRidgesRV I do the same thing as I trust Garmin more than RVTW to safely route us to our destination. That said I have gotten some suspicious directions from Garmin but they weren't bad or got me into trouble, just maybe a few extra miles of driving.

      @MonacoMike I always try to check my routes the night before, just to make sure everything looks ok, and it gives me a chance to look at satellite views of turns and other things I want to double check. It also gives me a change to look at the entrance to the RV park and places near by so I know when I'm getting close.
