For laypeople like me, you make what other music mixing channels sound like, “You just turn the dial 3 glurps up on the Bibidy Bobidy” make sense. Thank you 🙏

Another great video! At the end of the day it is all about the music and not how fancy you can be with your plugins.

    Always very informative!
I really looked at my latest session which probably had a thousand plugins open…
    Sometimes… simplicity is the key
I really loved the mix on that song!
I even prefer that over the original mix
    Keep on rocking dude
You really are a great inspiration

I really like your "minimalistic" approach: do what the song requires and nothing else. At least that's the principle I'm trying to stick to when I mix :)

do you have a video explaining how to pick an amp sim and how to set it up
I've tried like 3 different amp sims and they all sound like shit and i'm clearly doing something wrong

I've honestly never heard of recording 2 different basses, I have heard of splitting the signal between the high and low frequencies

    • @BaenaCarcosa
      @BaenaCarcosa 2 роки тому +2

just to clarify I did not record 2 different basses - it is the same exact DI just running through 2 different plugins for different tones to blend

@@BaenaCarcosa oh gotcha I misunderstood what Scott said then, appreciate the clarification though! Killer playing though!

What do you mean when you refer to "shells"?

Refreshing tutorial. I’m newly recording my own music. It’s a bit overwhelming learning the technical side of things. Sometimes I forget that mixing is not just a technical skill, it’s creative as well. This mix sounds great. Cheers man!

I think I missed it but how did you make the reverb "less" harsh, this was an awesome mix that raised the bar for Gojira covers.

Generally, a reverb will just reflect the source. If you have a harsh source, then the reverb multiplies that. With amp simulator guitars, I clamp down very hard on the high frequencies with EQ (often doing a hi-cut starting from around 7k), and add a soft presence boost with the API, and then use soothe to tame the harshness a bit more. (In this video I used SmartEQ, still experimenting with that.) Similar concept with delay - if it feels harsh, it could very well be the delay itself, but the first thing I'd check is the source just to be sure it's not sending those harsh frequencies.
