I knew I recognized that name, I played the SH!T out of that Haarp Machine album and also enjoyed the Intervals album he did vocals for. Nice choice for a guest 👍
Wow, this song, you 2 have to finish this, it is stuck in my head. For the Q&A: I'm kind of trying to write some songs but often times I struggle with a transition or to come up with a new part of the song. How do you tackle these types of roadblocks?
That wasn't a Thick Riff Thursday, that was a Thick Masterclass Thursday maah Niiiib, such a surprise to see Mike in this episode, i love his work, my fave by him is Cosmic Metaphisical Verisimilitude with Jarrod Alonge... CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
This was badass!. But i think we all need an EP now lol!!!! Also, this collaboration and interview format was great. Would like to see this again with other artists.
If you’re gonna turn this into a full song, I feel like it needs the post chorus riff to be turned into a breakdown (aka, half time the drums, removing the dead notes on the guitar, etc). Loved the video as always!
I can't express how much pride I had for you in watching this series, your channel, and your talent progress over just two years. Keep it up and Happy Holidays ❤
This is so awesome dude. After hearing these cleans, i didnt realize how much clean vocals he did with Raunchy. Always thought it was the keyboardist doing them all.
Nick I'm new to recording and posting videos. You have inspired me to get back into music. I even went and got a headless guitar bc you look so comfortable and not smacking your headstock on everything 😂 thanks for sharing with us
Nick this was such a cool episode! Really enjoyed hearing your playing with vocals added to them! For the QnA, what volumes do you typically track at when recording guitar, bass, and drums to keep from clipping on the output?
Damn these riffs remind me so much like Atlas, if you havent listened to them I HIGHLY suggest you do so. Hands down one of the best Finnish bands out there rn!
Hey dude, since stumpling onto channel, I have been a weekly watcher. You make it look so easy. I like the newer split screen view. Thanks for your content!
Mike is another prime example of the “Canadians are nice” stereotype 😂 I remember hearing him on the album he did with Intervals and was absolutely blown away
Q&A Question: One of my favorite things about these riffs you put out is the drums, did you/ do you play drums? If not, how did you go about learning to program them (like how you write them, not literally how to program drums in a DAW)? They are usually my biggest bottleneck when writing music and I'd love to learn more about your process.
Hey Nick! Huge fan, you inspire me every day to continue working on my projects and constantly give me new ideas. Just a question, if you could collaborate with any artist out there right now, who would it be? Keep it up Nick! :)
Dude i know I'm a little late to comment on this video but I've been following you for like 10 years on soundcloud and now here. I can't believe how far you've come and that you had the opportunity to with with someone like Mike 🤯 AVW is by far my favorite intervals album. I saw them a couple months ago and it's just not as cool without Mike 😢
I genuinely look forward to these every week, it's so inspiring and has really helped me with my own music as well. For the QnA i was wondering since you said you mainly use your 8 strings as 7 strings why not just get s 7 string, is there any real reason or do you just prefer how the 8 string feels. Alternatively i was wondering if you have ever considered using archetype Rabea Massad, i absolutely love it and use it for my main plugin, i think you could do something really cool with synth, anyway keep up the amazing work :)
2 questions! 1. Could you go in more depth of your drum mixing and mastering during your videos? 2. Can you please make Night Ride a full song? It’s amazing
Hey, I love your stuff man! You said something about tunings influencing your style and I couldn’t agree more! I mostly play 8 and 9 strings and my tunings are wildly different between the two. My 8 strings are primarily tuned to the monuments 8 string tuning or F A# F A# D# F A# D# and my 9 strings are tuned to C# F# B E A D F# B E but I’ve been considering swapping over to a drop tuning or B E B E A D F# B E. Just in case you don’t know monuments tuning is based DADGAD but based on A# instead of D and I get an extra low F string and a high D#. On the other hand my 9 string tuning is just standard tuning but the G string is a half step flat so it moves where the 6 string is so you get a baritone guitar with an extra high string (and then 2 extra low strings in my case). They’re both really interesting to play with and if you can I would absolutely recommend playing with them if you can, especially that baritone tuning!
What inspires you the most at the moment of writing music? We know we are out of ideas some days, but how do you do it? What is the trigger for you to keep yourself writing music? I love your videos, man! Greetings from Argentina!
For the Q&A: I’m someone who loves playing my guitars and really wants to get into music production, but I struggle to find the time to sit down and learn it. Can you recommend any online courses/something similar that I could take in bite sized pieces to learn with my busy schedule?
Where’s that dang join button to become a member? It isn’t there for me. Also, for the Q&A, how do you decide when a song is “finished”? When do you say “alright that’s it” and leave it?
Big fan! I discovered your channel a month or so ago and have been excited for Thursday ever since. For the Q&A: I've been writing music for years, but only recently have I been able to record. I feel like I'm getting a grasp on mixing volume levels, but EQing and mastering still confuses me. What are some tips or resources I could use to improve and make my music sound like it does in my head?
9:42 That intro is so trudgy. Like it gives me “…and then she bled” vibes or old school whitechapel. Best comparison I can think of, it hits that gut punch feel
Q to be A'd: has the weekly video release schedule significantly adjusted the time spent on other aspects of your studio? It sounds like you have a great team, but weekly videos at this level of quality must eat up hours of your time and potentially anyone else helping with audio / video
Such an honor to be on the show, Nick! Super stoked on how this turned out!
Mike! Huge fan! So sick to see you collabing with Nick, epic duo. Are you guys releasing this as a full song? 🙏
You absolutely smashed this. Cheers!
This sounds so good man! Such a great melody choice, and the friggen tone of your voice dude…unreal!
It'd be an absolute injustice to not release a full length version of this one lads, banger 🤌
those are called “in the pocket faces” when you’re programming drums. This was straight 🔥🔥🔥
Oh shit that’s my BOY right there
That fading lead into the post chorus brooooo
I want this to be a full song.
I'm sorry, but this is unreal. This NEEDS to be made into a full track with Mike! That would be on repeat constantly!
Dude!!!!
Just.......... wow!!!!!
I agree..... y'all need to finish this.
Fricken epic sounding!!!!
this completed could definitely be a hit
Surreal to see one of my favorite vocalists on my favorite UA-cam series. Guys please finish this song 🙏🙏🙏
He's working on a release, so I expect it will be finished at some point.
It better 😤
The end result is insane 🎉
I knew I recognized that name, I played the SH!T out of that Haarp Machine album and also enjoyed the Intervals album he did vocals for. Nice choice for a guest 👍
MIKE! Love to see my fellow Baltimore boi doing things.
The second half was refreshing. A back and forth between to artists.
love mike so much. miss him in intervals .
Raunchy - watch out has been a song i always go back and listen to. So happy to see this video!
Mike Semesky is AWESOME! Discovered him on Interval’s AVW and he’s been one of my favorites ever since
Amazing episode! Final riff with Mike's vocals is maaasssiiiive 🔥WE NEED THE FULL SONG!!!
Wow, this song, you 2 have to finish this, it is stuck in my head. For the Q&A: I'm kind of trying to write some songs but often times I struggle with a transition or to come up with a new part of the song. How do you tackle these types of roadblocks?

The vocals really bring me back to A voice Within, great work all around from both you and Mike!
This was badass!. But i think we all need an EP now lol!!!!
Also, this collaboration and interview format was great. Would like to see this again with other artists.
Haha thanks dude! Glad you like this format! Definitely will have more on the way!
When the algo hit me with a 45 minute Nicky B video, I start to believe there is a god after all.
would love the full album
this sounds incredible!!!! I need more of you 2 in my life!
Posts and clicks within 3 minutes. Who’s with me?
A thick riff Thursday that's longer than 20 minutes???
Sign me tf up
I'm posting this at 8:41 , so before anything and I'd say it sounds like rivers of nihil. which i love.
This is so good Mike is such a good vocalist, your conversation about how you approach music was very interesting. as always great stuff man
I love this, the part after the chorus grooooves so hard
Holy shit, he is one of my most favorite vocalists EVER! I can't believe this! Fucking epic!
Girth riff Thursday. The video was a treat.
If you’re gonna turn this into a full song, I feel like it needs the post chorus riff to be turned into a breakdown (aka, half time the drums, removing the dead notes on the guitar, etc). Loved the video as always!
"Hey, I wonder if I have time to watch TRT before I head to the gy-.....nope, staying home"
pro tip from the ATS Intern, watch TRT while doing cardio🤝
Unapologetically has happened to be at least 2 times
But I did lift last night whilst listening to TRT Season 1 on Spotify 💪🏻😎
You flexing bro? haha
so sick guys! great thick riff Thursday
What a voice! Great track! Do you release this stuff somewhere? Love your riffs and a big fan now…
Nick Broomhall wherever you stream your music. The riffs from episodes 1-25 are released on an Ep titled "Thick Riff Sessions Vol. 1"
It was awesome hearing you guys talk about your creative processes together. Great chorus and great dogs too!
I can't express how much pride I had for you in watching this series, your channel, and your talent progress over just two years. Keep it up and Happy Holidays ❤
Always cooking heat in the kitchen no matter what the theme is, love your vids!
That was pretty cool.
Dude, one of ur best. It's very atmospherically dark stuff, but still so heavy. Well done man!
Stupidly epic. 🤘🦖
Be rude for this not to be a full release surely?
I am so glad you’ve done this! I hope this is the first of many vocal guests!
This is so awesome dude. After hearing these cleans, i didnt realize how much clean vocals he did with Raunchy. Always thought it was the keyboardist doing them all.
I definitely hope to see way more of these. Beautiful!
Nick I'm new to recording and posting videos. You have inspired me to get back into music. I even went and got a headless guitar bc you look so comfortable and not smacking your headstock on everything 😂 thanks for sharing with us
That's funny because I was considering going the other direction, like Dean Lamb with his massive pointy headstock 😂
Haha that's awesome! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Oh damn! Nice work man
Damn, sounds incredible! Mikes voice reminds me of Chris Cornell, track gives massive Tesseract vibes!
Nick this was such a cool episode! Really enjoyed hearing your playing with vocals added to them!
For the QnA, what volumes do you typically track at when recording guitar, bass, and drums to keep from clipping on the output?
Would love to hear this as a full song. So dope dood!
Incredible stuff
Man this is so good. I still repeat the melody in my mind!
Damn these riffs remind me so much like Atlas, if you havent listened to them I HIGHLY suggest you do so. Hands down one of the best Finnish bands out there rn!
Dooooood! Goosebumps!
Just casually mentions that his wife plays bass and sings…maybe she could collab on a TRT?!
the ending sure could use some heavy screams - SUMMONING SPENCER SOTELO!
With those vocals it gives me really huge Termina vibes
This is still my favorite episode
Hey dude, since stumpling onto channel, I have been a weekly watcher. You make it look so easy. I like the newer split screen view. Thanks for your content!
Thanks for the support! Glad that view works better than the old pic in pic version!
Go slow and chug low is also my formula for heavy xD
This is awesome dude. Keep doing it. 🤍🏄🏼♂️🇧🇷
Very cool and interesting. Hoping that Raunchy release a new album next year.
Mike is another prime example of the “Canadians are nice” stereotype 😂 I remember hearing him on the album he did with Intervals and was absolutely blown away
Man some screams in the 2nd repeat of the post-chorus would sound so sick
Q&A Question: One of my favorite things about these riffs you put out is the drums, did you/ do you play drums? If not, how did you go about learning to program them (like how you write them, not literally how to program drums in a DAW)? Reminds me of psychosphere by periphery. Which is sick. Mikes singing is killer as well. Fits the riff awesome. Very EPIC
Good comp!
"In a standard tuning", although technically correct, is hilarious with anything more than 6/7 strings.
Oh damn a new Raunchy!!!!!!
Hey Nick! Huge fan, you inspire me every day to continue working on my projects and constantly give me new ideas. Just a question, if you could collaborate with any artist out there right now, who would it be? Keep it up Nick! :)

"its a different kind of heavy" nah bro its just heavy I had a stank face this whole time
Some major he is legend feels so far
For Q&A. Do you have any advice for aspiring internet content creators? Specifically in regards to staying motivated. Great video!!!
Sick
FULL TRACK PLEEEEEEEEEASE
Rest Among Ruins dropped one of the best prog metalcore albums then disappeared 🥲
Awesome shit bro I fuckin love these!!
Dude, we need you to release an album. Please! Hahaha Awesome work!
Question for next week: what do you do when you get in a rut when writing drums?
I genuinely look forward to these every week, it's so inspiring and has really helped me with my own music as well. For the QnA i was wondering since you said you mainly use your 8 strings as 7 strings why not just get s 7 string, is there any real reason or do you just prefer how the 8 string feels. A vibrato in volume is called tremolo btw xD thanks papa fender to forever mess that up for us
incredible work here Nick.
2 questions!
1. Could you go in more depth of your drum mixing and mastering during your videos?
2. Can you please make Night Ride a full song? It’s amazing
Dude that sounds so good. Sound similar to some stuff done by Holy Name
It's that DBZ 100x gravity kinda heavy
This SLAPS
Im extremely jealous of your kiesels. 😢 one day ill get one maybe… that new pink one you got is my dream guitar
Found the "like" button, but where's the "love" button?
❤

id categorize this like: doom doom doom doom dum dum
this is giving tesseract vibes

it's an oppressive kind of heavy
Q to be A'd: has the weekly video release schedule significantly adjusted the time spent on other aspects of your studio? It sounds like you have a great team, but weekly videos at this level of quality must eat up hours of your time and potentially anyone else helping with audio / video
dude that riff sound like sludge metal to me, check out this genre! love u
