I remember seeing them on SCTV way back when and was blown away with how they combined the B-52's and Talking Heads through a Japanese filter. I had to run out and get their first LP (Which * had to be * on Island Records!) Unfortunately, I lost track of The Plastics since that first LP. I guess I'm in for happy discoveries doing internet searches for them. I hope they still have penguins running around in their videos!
Back in the late 70s/early 80s I was going to school at Boston University and this band along with Talking Heads and The B-52s and Devo were all I wanted to listen to!
Had this album as a kid, never heard these guys LIVE though. Devo, the B-52's and the Talking Heads all knew about this band, and liked them. Fan-tabulous stuff, man ! ! ! Thank, rocklobsterred for posting this little gem...
I listen to them in the early 80s.......Loved their edgy New Wave sound. Maybe I am nitpicking here. I don't think the live play capture their sound (hard to explain). This came across muted sounding (from memory). Where is the harshness!!! Still have the album. Need to get a new record player to hear the original recordings.
Yep, me too. Love it. I think my one was a freebie inside a copy of some music tech magazine I used to get, possibly "Sound On Sound" (something like that).

They would have sounded more confident and legit if they sang in Japanese. Just like when Nina Hagen sounded powerful when singing in German and just silly when singing in English.
Totally agree. Kraftwerk recorded many of their songs in both German and English, and the English versions are awful. Not a comment on their accents, but just that German works with their music so much better.

I saw them play with the B-52s in West Hartford
Saw them open for the B52s 40+ years ago. Didn’t understand much, but the energy was poppin’!
Great stuff.
Brings back great memories of being 1e years old.
Vanessa of Pylon turned me on to the Plastics! Love you!
Just found out about this band - I've loved the singer's album Skylab #1 since 1994
Fantastic! When was this filmed? Anybody know? My wife and I use to play this LP over and over and over....Would have loved to see them live.
According to the liner notes on the DVD booklet, this concert was filmed December 20,1980.
I seen them in the 80s live the singer is a clothing designer know

Obsessed
Classic New Wave!
I wish I could find the lyrics! Great song
I have provided ;-) ;-)
Now baby metal cool
Used to have the gold flexi disc. Anyone know the lyrics?
