Too bad that guitarist died so young. I would have loved to see what he would have come up with later had he lived. You can't get more original and innovative than that as a guitarist!
Ricky was an original. After he passed away, the B-52's were never the same. Everything after the Bouncing Off the Satellites album, just sucked. Cosmic Thing has one or two ok tunes. Channel Z is the last song with any real DNA of the original B-52 sound. But Love Shack just killed my love for this band moving forward. I cringe whenever I hear that song. So derivative, pedestrian and corny. It's everything The B-52's were not.
cathridge Absolutely he wrote most of their songs and did the bass riffs etc... Cindy and the band were broken when he died ... but thats what happened back then ... they were nearly all gay and sadly AIDs related disease got him .. but the B52s will always be one of my favourites in the late 70s early 80s when I was in my teens and 20s

There were some girls there, they looked like sorority girls, and when the song reached the part where the band dropped to the floor and started flopping around, these girls all went "Ewwww!" It's one of my fondest memories.

This is a certified hood classic

We were at a party
His earlobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam
Rock rock
Rock lobster
Down, down
Lobster rock
Lobster rock
Let's rock!
Boy's in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'
Twistin' 'round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun
Put on your noseguard
Put on the Lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter
Here comes a stingray
There goes a manta-ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dog-fish
Chased by a cat-fish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that piranha
There goes a narwhal
Here comes a bikini whale!
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster

You don't ever want to meet up with a bikini whale! Oh the humanity!
Man I miss the 80's. It was such a fun era.
So underrated. Probablt THE MOST underrated ROCK song of all time.
Please buy a thesaurus.

Cindy Wilson was hot as fuck here,.... as well as elsewhere. She is quite underrated.
matt4270 You're right my friend
matt4270 hell yeah!!!
+matt4270 Agree 100%
+matt4270 check out the 1978 video from the Atlanta club, in black and white. She moved and twitched ever so slightly on the crowded stage - she is just so sexy in that old video. I think Kate wasn't too shabby either.
This is great art rock weirdness from the new wave era!
+jas22 and she gets the fuck down in this version. Dances the shit out of this. So fun.

1 OF THE GREAT ROCK-N-ROLL SONGS ALL-TIME !!! very much underrated. FUN FUN FUN DANCE !!! BUT I THINK YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY COOL TO LIKE THIS !! No squares allowed !!!
F.W. Roman.....100% Agreed. All negativity to these guys (Lily Pad) more than likely were not even born yet. Had to be living in that era to appreciate them!

Timeless classic..

The difference being the B-52's are or were talented.
+bertmustin STFU I bet you don't even know Ylvis
I loved this song when it first came out, and I still feel the same! It makes me happy 😊
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Rock Lobster
The B52's are my spirit animal.
I have to say that this performance is even better than the official music video for the song. Just everything about the performance was creative, beautiful art.
I agree.
pretty sure theyre lip syncing lol
@@666Havers What if they are?

Pure unbridled fun and idiocy.
What a positive message they were sending out.
Gotta love the B-52's.
I played this song on my headphones during an IV session - my bad doctor found out about this and said I was manic and needed to be placed on meds. Please vote below.
And yet sadly their biggest hit
LES DALZELL Actually "Love Shack" and "Roam" were their biggest hits.
vracan the genius of the guitar and bass is kind of hidden behind the vocals. It's just brilliant.
Such an underrated track, because of it's seemingly silly lyrics. The guitar riffs are killer and so is the groove. Genius song writing.
Ludicrously daft and brilliant in equal measures!! You simply can not escape the groove !!
