This song changed my whole perspective about music. I was a freshman in college, DJing at my fraternity . I played what was in the crate of albums, and tried to choose what the people would like. Most of my experience was 70s top 40 stuff. One of my fraternity brothers brought this to me and asked me to play it. I listened to it and instantly knew how brilliant it was. This played at just about every college party back in the day. One party I was at--the floor was so packed with people dancing to this song, you could feel the floor bouncing.
First time I heard this was getting drunk outside a big college party up the street as 15 year teenage guys wonder what is this music ? and then yeah - 4 years later at a Case Western frat house in Cleveland was just that - house pounding smashed drunk wild fun - girls and guys just pounding up and down at the end and the whole house shaking everybody rockin !

Brings back my freshman in college days in 1980. College radio stations were the go to for new music & breaking new bands like The B-52's, Talking Heads, R.E.M., XTC, etc.
My aunt gave me this on tape when I was 7 or 8, and the song was about as old as I was. It is amazing how well punk, surf music, and atomic culture go together. It is just so damn good.
I wish I had been a teen in the late 70's/early 80's instead of the mid 00's. Feels like I missed out on something great by being born 20 years too late. At least it's easier to discover cool music today since it's all there to be discovered if one bothers to look beyond what's "most popular".
Yup, you missed it. Thankfully we have You Tube to relive these great songs. "Rock Lobster" was one song out of thousands that graced the charts in the 70's and 80's. Being 13 in 1980, this song was one of the BEST!

Amigo me encanta esta música
One of my favourite songs ! It's so bizarre and catchy. We need more of this !
Man take me back to the 80s when I was starting high school and this came out. Never heard anything like it then or since. So unique. So many good times partying with this in the background.
This song could have lasted a full hour, and I would still listen to it all.
pure genius, the man that thought of this song. and had the balls to go on tv with it
Never get bored of watching this performance !!
Are you scared of me?
I played this song on my headphones during an IV session - my bad doctor found out about this and said I was manic and needed to be placed on meds. Please vote below.
Finally found this after 15 years, this was one of my favorites songs when I was a child because it was so different and funny
Would love to karaoke this song with someone, go nuts and watch people leave with embarrassed for us
an idea for NY 2017, thnx
Hahahahahaha!
I got to do it by myself with just the guy's lyrics. Didn't go over so well.
"Watch out for that piranha....yi yi yi yi yow!" LOL
I would jump into the stage and sing with the two of you, definetely.
I was 15yo when this came out.i'm almost 50 yo and still love the b52s.
from a 22 year old i tell u from my heart ..change your picture dude u will get hated from dicks my age
***** you talk and cus like an old man hahaha
I loved all the songs of this strange and very original band, I had all their albums!!!
La energía de ricky wilson era inigualable❤. Les recomiendo mirar el concierto "b52s Westfalenhalle Dortmund 1983"💫
I have to say that this performance is even better than the official music video for the song. Just everything about the performance was creative, beautiful art.
I agree.
pretty sure theyre lip syncing lol
@@666Havers What if they are?
Brings back my freshman in college days in 1980. College radio stations were the go to for new music & breaking new bands like The B-52's, Talking Heads, R.E.M., XTC, etc.
Completely insane, rocking, performance. Just awesome.
I'll never get tired of this song
Ricky Wilson was just so creative on guitar. Other worldly sounds. R.I.P.
"Everybody had ... matching towels!"
My aunt gave me this on tape when I was 7 or 8, and the song was about as old as I was. It is amazing how well punk, surf music, and atomic culture go together. It is just so damn good.
What a spec-ta-cu-lar song! Hasn’t lost any of its charm and energetic power since it first came out 40+ years ago! Outstanding! Love these guys!👏🏼👏🏼😎
Everytime it pops up in my feed I have to watch. Mesmerising!
I've always loved Cindy's dancing but she excelled herself in this one!
I’s Cindy the one in blue
@@dfollery3230 Yep, that's her...the unforgettable Cindy Wilson
And Fred, always seems like someone's father who replaced the singer last second because they were out sick.
I could watch them all dance for hours! They had so much fun flailing everywhere!
@@HipixOFFICIAL that's just what I thought when I saw Fred

My favourite song ever! Thanks guys for the beautiful music!
This band can make me smile like no other
One of many cool New Wave bands of the late 70's/80's. I loved being a teen during this era!
Everything about this is perfection, especially that guitar.
One of the best songs all time....
Kate Pierson was a music legend.
She was with REM on 'happy shiny people'.
@John Smith Sandler
Red dress. Here she is with REM.

My dad would always play this song in the car lmao. He also played The Cure, Depeche Mode, and the Beastie Boys. Let’s just say he started my love for old music
John John same with me
Pops knew his music
