  • It’s been a long time coming, but Logitech has finally moved on from gear-based force feedback and fully embraced direct drive technology, thanks to the Logitech G Pro wheelbase.
Featuring 11Nm of torque - a significant upgrade on the 8Nm of Fanatec’s CSL DD with Boost Kit - the Logitech G Pro offers several new features not seen on the Swiss company’s previous sim racing wheel efforts - including the G29 and G923.
For example, for the first time ever Logitech offers a quick release system - hinting at future multiple wheelrim options - with the standard Pro wheelrim boasting two jog wheels and a plethora of buttons. The new model also features on-the-fly wheelbase adjustments, so settings can be changed mid-race.
The rim also comes with two analogue clutch paddles (as well as the standard flappy gear-changing paddles), which can be used as an accelerator/brake axis, making it an inclusive option for disabled or young sim racers.
In addition to the new wheel, Logitech is offering a new pedal option - the Logitech Pro Racing Pedals - which for the first time in Logitech’s history come with a load cell brake as standard.
However, costing a combined £1,348, do the Logitech G Pro wheelbase and Pro Racing Pedals gain pass marks from Rich? Does it compete with other entry-level direct drive options from Fanatec and Moza?

one thing to note about the plastic construction; the motor is attached to a steel plate, and that plate is either bolted to your rig or table, the plastic just surrounds the rest of the electronics / provides for air cooling

If they had bundled the pedals with the base and wheel for 1000 it would have been amazing

Excited Logitech is getting into this segment of the market.

I was expecting a $500-$600 price tag. At $999 you might as well go for Fanatec or Moza

The thing I balk most at is the lack of a 6-speed manual shifter. I know it’s silly but I’d like to drive my old MINI around Spa with an H pattern shifter.

As a sim racer & wheelchair user, I really appreciate the design choices here. Quick-release wheel makes context-switching of my desk easier; gradient paddles are excellent (currently I’m mapping a TrackIR to a custom vJoy config - head pitch up for accel, down for brake); separate pedals help (I’ll never use them); but my personal favourite is the centre-mounted desk clamp: I have bruises on my knees from whacking the clamp knobs under each side of my G29, & the single central clamp will mitigate that. Love it! If Logi wants to send me one I’ll put it to much use 😁

A reminder that an 11nm wheel will feel better and smoother at 5nm than a native 5nm wheel. The headroom is nice to have.

I'm all for having everything type C, but this is one of the things I don't mind having micro, because I'll just leave it plugged in, and never need to worry about it for months/years

This really is an exciting time for our little hobby. The more competition the better, with Moza on the scene as well this will hopefully allow more and more people to get into the direct drive game. Well done Logitech👏🏻 Just got to get that price down a bit🤔 Really nice review. Enjoyed this👍🏻

i'm eager to see this DD steering wheels coming. Got into sim racing not too long ago with a G923. As i get more seasoned and experienced, i hope they appear here in LATAM soon, since for some reason, Fanatec/Thrustmaster setups dont appear in the local market at all, and i dont feel like getting destroyed with shipping fees nowhere in the future.

amazing how they couldn't come in cheaper than the fanatec GT DD Pro bundle @$970

Logitech should bring out the connector part of the wheel to buy separately (then modders could make their 3D-printed wheels and bolt them onto the connector).

great review as always, great B roll. I'm VERY interested in this, but that price is a bit much for a casual racer like me. I too hope they do a lower nm version for less. this is a big step for Logi tho, and I'm hyped to see them adopt DD and to see where this ecosystem goes.

I remember a few years ago Logitech said they were exiting the sim racing hardware market.

nice to see Logitech offer a DD product, especially with such high torque specs. The pedal set seems very high quality too! I'm currently quite happy with my Fanatec DD wheel, but if this Logitech model had come out sooner, I would have seriously considered both very hard before making a purchase. I hope they have lots of success and we see sim racing gear from all the manufacturers grow in features and quality.

Looking forward to whether if they release a proper shifter along with it as there aren't many great choices at a reasonable price right now.

I think Logitech kind of shot them selves in the foot with the pricing. It’s no cheaper then a Fanatec on Moza DD. The wheel base is all plastic & about $200 over priced I think. But the pedals are reasonably price for sure. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃

Good to see them getting into the direct drive world. Granted, knowing this is there first, its kind of big compared to the competition. Hopefully they can refine that over time in the later generations...
