  • After last week's review of the Logitech G PRO Wheel & Pedals, the discourse surrounding it both in our UA-cam comments and all over the internet was- interesting to say the least. Many budding buyers weren't fully convinced by the price of the new hardware, and wanting to stick to the Logitech G ecosystem, turned their attention to the existing G923.
So today, Rich and John put them both head to head in the hope that you, a potential buyer of either product, can make a decision as to which one is for you. Is around 2Nm of torque not enough for you? Perhaps the G PRO would be the better shout. Don't have a ton of cash burning a hole in your pocket? Why not choose the G923? Already have a wheel and just need some pedals? Well the G PRO Pedals by themselves might just tickle your fancy!
Let us know which you'd rather pick up in the comments!

I'm a beginner sim racer, started last year. Since I did't know sim racing was for me, I went for the cheap tride and true wheel, the G923. It has absolutely served me well so far, even though I know It's not good compared to DD. If I continue to enjoy sim racing for another year or so, I'll consider more expensive products to raplace my current wheel, but I will always remember it fondly as the beginning of my hobby. I am on PC and got myself the Pro setup. Was looking at Fanatec for ages but it was always unavailable for order in Australia. I did upgrade from the Thrustmaster T300RS and can say that I am glad I did. The difference is massive. The FFB and trueforce are next level and I can hardly wait for new games to support it natively. Many games require you to use the G923 setting.

    • @SIPEROTH

Can't see it as a good buy. Is a decent enough product but not for that price. The price is just insane. More expensive than Fanatec and by as long shot too because if you get the full DD Gran Turismo Bundle of Fanatec, it includes pedals(which are better quality) base with the boost to 8nm and the GT wheel.
Now all that are close to 1000 so you can say that in the Logitech isn't really more expensive but they don't even give you their inferior pedals .
BUT here is the bigger catch. The Logitech wheel base isn't compatible with all systems. Only one console and PC and if you have both consoles and want to play some games on both then you have to shove another 1000 and get two wheel bases. You don't have to do this with Fanatec. You only need a different steering wheel than the GT one and you can have compatibility.
If we include that Logitech put wires in that limit rotation and that they have a quick release mechanism but no steering wheel offers at all then you can see how it looks just too much. Especially with the new DD base from Thustmaster that is more than 300 cheaper. Both Thustmaster and Fanatec offer a variety of steering wheels.

I’ve been sim racing for 2 years, I started with the G29, but about an year ago, and since I didn’t want to spend about 1k Euros on a good Fanatec bundle, I got the Pro pedals and the adaptar. Basically, if you want to take this even remotely serious, a Load Cell brake is just essential, and I found that that was the most important upgrade. Unfortunately, I dont think that pedals are up to scratch when you consider the price, but, eventually, I did find ways to improve them (like using the faces from the old pedals, go and guess…), and now I’m fairly happy with the pedals. One year into the hybrid solution, and now I’m looking for to get the Pro wheel as well. The thing is… When I started, I really didn’t want to spend much money at a single time, and what happens, is that you find that when you are mindfull of the costs, you’ll always tend to stay within the same ecosystem. I’m buying the Pro wheel now, which means for sure that I’m pretty pleased with Logitechs products. However, if I was willing to spend some 1500 on a single day, I’d be perhaps looking at Fanatec as well. However, their customer support is a total chaos and they do have some quality issues… That said, I race mainly on PS and GT7 particularly, and with TrueFFB compatibility and the quality woes at Fanatec, I do believe that best choice really is the Logitech Pro. But if you are already in to the Fanatec ecosystem, I dont think that it is worthwhyle to spend 1500 on a totally new set. Yep, it is not that simple! 😂

I started with a G923 set 2 months ago. If I had been able to side-by-side compare the G923 to the Pro set, I’d have never bought the 923. The comparison between them isn’t even close. The Pro wheel is larger, feels better, is heavier, and much higher build quality. The G923 is nice for what it is, but next to the Pro, it feels like a toy wheel.
If you’re on the fence between these 2 sets, save up for the Pro. It’s really worth it. Even the pedals are worth buying over the G923 pedals. They’re larger, and much more adjustable to the user.

21:14 I think they went all out to avoid people saying that Logitech only makes "mediocre" products (which is a lie) they needed to come out swinging to showcase that they can make high quality products, brand image is everything.
I don't doubt they'll launch a middle ground wheel in the future, they just need the good press on this one to boost brand fidelity, don't get me wrong, I'm also a Logitech "fan" so to speak, I have a G29 + Shifter and a M&K from them as well, it's good to see that they are open to "new" technologies.

TrueForce sounded like it was going to fill in the details in the FFB but all I've seen has been that it doesn't add anything useful.
Yes, it rumbled, but not in a way that communicates anything significant.

Despite it having significantly more plastic (even abundant in the pedal base) and having a proprietary wheel collar, Effectively meaning you're stuck with that wheel. It would still be a stopgap, and a relative upgrade in quality and precision over the increasingly aging G29 series. But at double that reasonable price. Its hilarious and insulting.

It really is sad, and surprising, that Logitech has ignored the middle ground here and you nailed it by calling that out. I'm still using, and loving, a G27 with the Ricmotech load cell and I'm pretty sold on the fact that Logitech gear is so well made, having run their wheels for I would think well over 20 years. The G Pro is a bit of a leap and, so far, it hasn't been discounted at all. Perhaps more concerning is the lack of news of new wheel options to take advantage of the quick release system. I guess the question is will Logitech actually add to the ecosystem or is this a dead end? Even if it is a dead end, I'd still be well interested if they could offer the combo at around the $700 mark. 11nm is probably OTT for most requirements, so a less powerful model would be fine at at around that price point too. It would be really interesting to know how sales of the Pro wheel and pedals are doing versus the strong competition. I'd imagine that the lack of add-on wheels is probably especially off putting.
