The "lung necklace" is an example of how humanity and nature are intertwined and how often we forget that we, as humans, are a part of nature. We view it as outsiders, detached from its phenomena and power. This piece, in my opinion, reminds us of how nature is truly at our core, when our bodies imitate it's characteristics, that's when you know that you are indeed also nature. The lungs remind us of tree roots, and how both are supposed to sustain a life. Life imitates art and nature is the most perfect art form.
I love how Luke catches all these amazing obscure references to old collections, historical clothing, art etc. but doesn't recognise that the necklace represents the lungs
The jeans look from Schiaparelli, with the backwards presentation (see the pockets and leather "label" tag placement), is completely genius as a statement, when you look at the sort of body-patchwork surrealism that runs throughout the whole work.
Yes, yes YES to the point about Iris’ collaboration with artists!! Her work has been the subject of several exhibitions at art museums and she could honestly be considered an artist herself. Folks gotta stop playing with her!
I think the necklace having a multitude of possible meanings is the whole point. It could be a tree, lungs or coral. It effectively highlights the interconnectedness of everything. It's breathtaking

I love Schiaparelli. gold embroidery and gold jewels mixed with abstract and contrasting colours makes it one of my favourites brands El sombrero cordobés is used more in flamenco rather in bullfighting, I think people who are in horses in bullfights wore them, and if you want to know the name for the matador hat is called montera

I would love to see IvH make works for plus size models. I think it could give her a whole new avenue for playing with shapes and dimension. Also I want to see people who look more like me in her stuff 🤷♀️
Fell in love with Iris van Herpen collection. I probably would look at this collection every day. The Schiaparelli collection was interesting. Not a fan of gold, if they changed to silver, I probably would sale my soul to the devil to have one dress of Schiaparelli or IVH!
I just spent 3 hours fixing some split pants by hand and for me it was meticulous work. I can't imagine the detail and design and labor that went into these looks--high fashion really is an amazing synthesis of craftmanship and art.

@@RealElongatedMuskrat I think the term is alveoli. Bronchi are the main branches of the respiratory tract that get air into the lungs, alveoli are the air sacks themselves, which look very 'bubble-y'

I almost fainted at Roseberry's black and deep yellow/orange/gold dress at 12:19. It is GORGEOUS. I don't really know what to call that color but it blew me away.

My greatest accomplishment of my life was I somehow managed to find and buy a pair of pants by IVH. I have no idea where I will wear them, I'd be turned away at the entrance of any place that would be worthy of wearing them to, but I'm damn overjoyed to potentially have the opportunity.

Everytime I see an IvH collection, I always dread that the next one would be repetitive or even boring, like, because the last collection is so spectacular, they'd run out of creative juice or something, or maybe because their strength is at one thing, they'll just stick to that. I've felt the same about brands like Marchesa (back then), Ralph&Russo and Guo Pei. But boy, the team at IvH has a way outdoing themselves. Every. Single. Time. Kudos to them. A bunch of geniuses.

As an gardener adding new irises to my collection every year, IVH designs are like literal Iris flowers. In both color and form. Seriously every single piece looks directly lifted from the actual flowers. The balance of upward framing and downward flow - like an Iris. The color palates. Even the cut outs or scales are exactly like the drops of color on the flowers. Iris of course references rainbow 🌈, Iris was a messenger goddess between heavens and earth. Between the worlds for sure. My youngest child is named Iris so I’m biased 🤷🏻♀️
Wow the other fashion houses need to take lessons from Roseberry on how to stay true to the legacy of the brand while creating something new and interesting. This collection is a masterclass in how to do it. Well done.👏
The eye motifs mixed with all that gold embroidery and asymmetrical two-tone fabrics by Schiaparelli is right up my alley because of how much it reminds me of those biblically accurate angels (maybe not the asymmetric, but definitely the gold and eyes) which is awesome to me personally, makes me want to make some inspired fabric items (as clothing for me, for a doll, maybe a non-apparel item, who knows!)
Schiaparelli's haute couture finale bridal dress told me the entire life story of the mystery woman whose wearing it, as well as what she is feeling now- in the moment. So much symbolism. One could write an essay on that piece alone!

I learned soooo much from your video about the history of Schiaparelli and what went into creating these looks and thank you! Also never thought I'd say this but I'm ready for IvH to show me something... different lol. Love her stuff but I want her to give us mooooore. Iris is hands down the most talented designer in my opinion!!!
As an gardener adding new irises to my collection every year, IVH designs are like literal Iris flowers. In both color and form.
Seriously every single piece looks directly lifted from the actual flowers.
The balance of upward framing and downward flow - like an Iris.
The color palates.
Even the cut outs or scales are exactly like the drops of color on the flowers.
Iris of course references rainbow 🌈, Iris was a messenger goddess between heavens and earth. Between the worlds for sure.
My youngest child is named Iris so I’m biased 🤷🏻♀️
Wow the other fashion houses need to take lessons from Roseberry on how to stay true to the legacy of the brand while creating something new and interesting. This collection is a masterclass in how to do it. Well done.👏

The eye motifs mixed with all that gold embroidery and asymmetrical two-tone fabrics by Schiaparelli is right up my alley because of how much it reminds me of those biblically accurate angels (maybe not the asymmetric, but definitely the gold and eyes) which is awesome to me personally, makes me want to make some inspired fabric items (as clothing for me, for a doll, maybe a non-apparel item, who knows!)

Schiaparelli's haute couture finale bridal dress told me the entire life story of the mystery woman whose wearing it, as well as what she is feeling now- in the moment. So much symbolism. One could write an essay on that piece alone!
