Isn't it ironic that some of the last combat units that were active in Berlin defending the chancery area was the French SS charlamagne division and the reminisce of the Norland division made up of Belgium and volunteers from the occupied countries of western Europe. Many people do not realize that the fascist party existed in France even before world war II started. In fact they even staged a couple of activities trying to seize control of the government.
I love your channel and learning about military history! Is there any plans to talk about the Jedburgh teams and their involvement in D Day? Please keep posting, excellent work.
Excellent video. Thank you. We also stayed in Bayeux for our Normandy visit. It’s central to most everything D-Day. Plus has the Tapestry, Overlord Museum, cathedral, and British cemetery.
When i filmed the road I intended ending with the 1944 photo. Then I thought as I mentioned it first why not do it the other way. So the cars had to go backwards.
Nice episode. One of the unfortunate aspects of the war was the destruction of French towns during the liberation. Bayeux was fortunate that it was spared that fate due to some quick thinking residents.
Fortunately there were few volunteers. Wonder why…. Thank you. Great video to remind me of our trip to Normandy.

Really good video ....Im visiting with family in a couple of weeks , so will look out for the places you mention.....
I stayed there in fall of 2019 with my dad while touring the beaches, fun to see some familiar places and hear a bit more about it's WW2 history.
I wish we had watched prior to visiting Bayeux in April 😮
They're very good at driving in reverse in Bayeux aren't they.

@@WalkingDday I didn't notice at first, just thought the last car had decided to reverse down the road at speed.
Love your videos btw. 👍
