- THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EVER REACTION TO ANYTHING RELATED TO FINAL FANTASY SO, PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR NOT KNOWING ANY LORE OR WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON, ON SCREEN. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE VIDEO.

When FF 14 came out originally, in what is now called 1.0 it was a disaster ... ultimately the company decided to change the Producer and Director of the game and gave it to one Naoki Yoshida or Yoshi-P as he is known ...
Ultimately it was realized that the attempts to fix a fundamentally flawed game would never result in anything than a serviceable game, and the company needed something more, so Yoshi-P convinced them to do something absolutely crazy, to shut down the original game and recreate a new version from scratch under the same name ... but the shut down would not be immediate: they would continue fix and support the original version with part of the team while the rest would be working on the new version which needed to be done in around 2,5 Years (conventional wisdom is an MMO needs 5-6 years in development...).
Whats more the shutdown of the game would be made into an in game in story event and so as the patches with fixes and new bits of story came for the original game. a Red Dot in the sky continued to get bigger and bigger ... until it loomed large in the sky and the announcements of the server shut down was made .. and on that day as devs swarmed the world with monsters and the players fought one last time and the timers run out the game went black and this first half of this cinematic played, up until the Old Wizard transports the fighters away.
and around a year later the game releases as Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn - and the second part of the cinematic where the Wizard fights the Dragon would be added to the game later as part of a Raid Series that is a finale that resolves threats left from the old version and as a gift to the players.
🤯🤯🤯🤯yoooo wtf...that's alot of moving parts...hopefully the fan base came bsck after the updates..I'm sure some were lost but the salvaged it somewhat I would assume right?!! Also thanks for the knowledge. 🙏🏿
@@foxtaco Oh, they came back alright, and then some. 14 is at its strongest to date, with an ever-growing playerbase, constant communication with the devs, etc. This game has become a huge success.

@@foxtaco Well its mainly because of Yoshi-P forced a completely different way of doing things on the team, focusing on open communication, the game being fun (what a surprise) and even made them play other games mainly mmos so they are not stuck in their own echo-chamber ...

@@Ower8x The documentary really covers well how insane what they were doing was. Yoshi-P had to micromanage the team for years to a crazy degree to rebuild FFXIV from scratch WHILE doing fixes to the original version.
But through years of working hard they rebuilt confidence and FFXIV is not just reborn, but going incredibly strong to date.
Notably, FFXIV was a main-line title of their series - they could NOT let it fail, so I think for the first time in history they shut down the whole thing and re-did it all. And even during a lot of this the big tsunami in Japan happened and everything.
I played the original and as much as I wanted to like it, it just didn't come together. I play again now and it's an incredible game. There's so much to it, and to think the players became part of the story really says something.
To note: They also show a lot of gratitude to this day to the players who supported them even when it was 1.0. As a legacy player I still get a massive discount on the subscription - about 50% off. So the dev team, instead of arguing, humbled themselves, worked hard, turned it around, re-earned trust, and are now probably one of the most respected and beloved teams in gaming. That's not to say things are perfect, but they clearly work very hard on the game and listen to their players and show them gratitude for the support they get. Their attitude makes a huge difference.
The song that is sung during this cinematic holds soooooooooooooo much more weight after the latest expansion. I can never look at it the same ever again.

Man I was mind blown from the latest expansion with Answers. It just came all together. I am planning to come back to ff 14 soon, after I beat endwalker I had to take a break and went on a single player gaming spree searching for the next good story. FF 14 is still better then anything I have found though.

Oh, this game’s lore is INSANE…Far better than WoW and League lore by leaps and bounds. The lore alone might leave you hooked.
It made me so happy when you mentioned the sound design during this cinematic. You might not have had the context, but your reaction was still a lot of fun to watch.
FF14 has grown to be the biggest MMO to date and just recently we finished an almost decade-lasting story across the base game and four expansions.
It would be great to see your reactions to the cinematics of the respective expansions as well!
For sure boss🙏🏿 glad you enjoyed the reaction. Yes the galactic but very "earthy" sounds blend so well for this...I'm an outsider of course but I can almost tell just from the sounds alone what time period this could be. Light but gritty with some mechanical future sounds as well.🤯🤯🤯amazing 10/10
A bit more lore for the story that is 1.0.
Ul'dah ( a desert city in Thanalan) was in danger of being overrun by monsters (spawned in by the Devs) until a group of adventurers formed a great defensive wall outside its gates. This event is called the Great Goobbue Wall and is actually ingame as Lore lol

It's always amazing to think how the Devs not only made the event in game, but the gamers became part of the lore and witnessed the world's end.
The knights of goobbue!!!! I met one the other night in a comment section!! Those guys are legends!!! I fucking love the ff14 community man!!! The devs really make the heavy hitters feel like apart of the lore and enshrine them into immortality and then the community speaks of their legendary exploits . It’s fucking amazing

@@mookiestewart3776 I'm actually a legacy player, but the game was rough. By the time that event had happened, I had given up, even though I really wanted to like it.
In particular, the latency was so horrible that it was actually impossible for me to do certain things in the game. There were things I couldn't dodge even if I started running before when a monster was across the room. It was so bad.
Now, you can sidestep out of the hitbox and be confident that you're good. Then, I had times when I was literally NEVER in the hitbox and would get hit for some reason.
So I didn't take part in this event, but I do get the legacy player discount :)
This is completely Free to Play for the original re-release (known as A Realm Reborn - ARR) and the first expansion Heavensward with all classes and jobs in those able to be leveled up to 60. For more context on this cinematic, you will have to complete the ARR raid series Coils of Bahamut. While the rest of it is a sub based game, the story is probably one of the best to have ever graced and MMO, if not one of the best RPG storylines of all time.

@@gundamgunpla4685 FFXIV has a free trial so long as you don't buy the game (or pay for the sub) that comprises the initial re-release, it's post patch content, the first expansion and it's post patch content which basically means most of the battle jobs and all the crafting and gathering classes are completely unlocked and you're able to do most any content.
As you may have noticed on the comments, the lore of this game and its development is one of a kind in the world of videogames. Nowadays, FF14 is arguably the best Final Fantas yever made - people just doesn't think it's fair to compare to the rest of the franchise because its an online game with an expanding story, but still it IS a hell of a game.
Just a fun fact: that dragon, Bahamut, has the size of a city. The blue magic circle which these people tried to imprison him was summoned on three different places across the continent. If you play attention during the formation of the blue orb trying to seal him, you can the see the curvature of the planet in the screen.
And the music is called Answers. The music in this game plays a HEAVY part in the story too.

The dragon had a wingspan of SIX MILES!!!! The math has been done and he’s the biggest strongest version of Bahamut in the entire franchise . The dude nuked a continent in a matter of three minutes

A little extra context here in addition to what others said.
The original version of this video only had the first half (up until where he teleports you away and stays himself). It was unknown how the dragon was defeated even five years later.
This version of the cutscene was revealed when you were about to fight the resurrected dragon in the raid series, when the ghost of the elven guy revealed that the prayers of the people transformed him into an embodiment of their hopes for salvation.

The first half (before final fight) is actually the loading intro to the game. So without context, even new players are greeted to the game with this cinematic. Thank you so much for checking this out. It made me very happy to see you enjoy it.

When you do get to face off against this game’s Primal incarnation of Bahamut(As the final raid of the Binding Coils of Bahamut), it is also accompanied by “Answers”, and the fight is about as crazy as you’d expect.
(And later on, they would also add a super-tough marathon raid featuring all the bosses from the Binding Coils in sequence capped off with a Golden Bahamut, a raid known simply as the Ultimate Coil of Bahamut, or UCOB for short. Not to mention, ANOTHER version of Bahamut, Lunar Bahamut, serves as the end boss for the final dungeon before the Endwalker content.)
Love this cinematic so much. It is right up there with Astatres for me where I always click when I see a new first time reaction clip in my recommends.

@@foxtaco Just the cinematics in order is all really what it is, before this one though there was a 1.0 cinematic which was the first one, after this one there is another one that shows the world after this calamity here, and then comes Heavensward, after Heavensward there are 3 more which are StormBlood Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
Its an all adventure, the cinematics just shows bits of the story.
Which one is supposed to come before Heavensward??

I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, the original version of this game was B A D. (Like, a potted plant had as many polygons as a player character, I shit you not)…So naturally, Square Enix was like “Crap, what are we gonna do”…Enter Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, who came up with an idea crazy enough to work: Remake the game from scratch with the same name and world, but rather than just shutting down the original version once the new version was ready, he decided they were gonna not just kill the original version with fire, but they were gonna, as Joshua “Joshscorcher” Burner once put it, “kill it with the GREATEST FIRE IN THE HISTORY OF FIRE”. So, he helped hold the original version together while he and the devs were making the new version, and in the game world, a red dot in the sky, which turned out to be the red moon Dalamud, drew closer and closer, until when the time came for the original version to be shut down, the community gathered around and watched as Dalamud descended upon the game world, as if it was gonna crash like the moon from Majora’s Mask…And then, we got to witness the glorious CGI cutscene you see here(Albiet only up until just after the old wizard, Louisoix, teleported our heroes to safety). Like a year or two after in our world, the game relaunched as A Realm Reborn, and in the game world, 5 years had passed since the great cataclysm that marked the original version’s shutdown, which would come to be known as the Seventh Umbral Calamity. A post-ARR raid series, the Binding Coils of Bahamut, sees the player venture alongside Louisoix’s granddaughter Alisae (and her twin brother Alphinaud) into the eponymous Binding Coils of Bahamut to prevent Bahamut from reawakening, and to find out the truth of what happened after our heroes were warped to safety. The penultimate raid of that series sees you freeing Louisoix(Who is also the narrator for ARR) from essentially super possession by way of beating him up while he is in the form of a Phoenix, after which he explains things and the game shows you the remainder of this cinematic. It truly has to be experienced to be believed.

Its Magic the gathering. For a bit of backstory. The main character in this trailer is Liliana who is under contract with the big bad in the trailer. She is however not happy with it. The trailer shows the moment she decides to renege on said contract and fight for control of the army.
