Bravo to the father and mother for the fine education that they have given their lads. The pond is really very natural, love the rock formation and plants. Well done.
Thank you!
You are most welcome.
One thing I have seen in many aquascape videos and other expert videos is that the put a flap of liner or underlayment in front of the aquablox to prevent the water from coming down too quickly and to force the water to enter from the top of the aquablox.
Another stellar project and very relaxing video production. I love how it all flows right into the wooded landscape behind you.
Thank you!
How is the hot tub project going?
It’s going well - thanks for asking. Framing is done, insulation is in, plumbing installed and glued, lighting in and I should hopefully finish all the interior plywood tomorrow. I intend to skirt the outside with the cedar tone boards afterwards and then turn my attention to the pond. We had a pond around 2/3 size as yours that we filled in earlier this spring to justify this hot tub space wise. I’ll be replacing it with a smaller pond adjacent to the hot tub. We have the fish away to a new home (had them nearly 20 years!) and many of the plants have been sitting in a temp container and quickly overgrowing it so it’s time to get the pond in. I have backerboard for hot tub ready to go however. We picked out tile and just need to go get it. Wish we could speed it all up but lots of competing priorities timewise!
I’ve been taking pictures of the progress of course. I don’t have your editing skills but would like to assemble a slideshow when completed and post it online. I can always send you some pictures if interested - just lmk if you have an email to use.

This project gave me some great food for thought. Your use of earthworks, water catchment, and diversion is inspiring to see in action. Thanks for providing a nice exemplar for others looking to do something similar.
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic job. I can't wait to do this in my backyard with my kids. I had to watch the one where you swim with the fish too. So awesome. And you did it yourself. So cool.
Thank you! I would love to see your build as well! Hope you will post a video of it, if not please send pics to our email! Good luck, it's a lot of fun especially doing it with your kids! Have fun! Cheers
Beautiful pond and that water quality is perfect!!
Thank you for watching!
NICE JOB, ESPECIALLY MIXING THE LARGE AND SMALLER ROCKS AND THE BUBBLER IN THE CENTER OF THE POND.

Thank you for watching!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you for watching!
Just beautiful!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
Great job...i wish my pond was that big, i'm also building an intake bay to get rid of leaves.
Thank you!
Yes an intake bay does the job but you might also need some wavemakers/jets to push the leaves in that direction. I have 3 of them in our pond.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Great job guys
This pond Is gorgeous
Thank you!
Love it
I’m late to this but you should put a ton of dirt around the waterfall so it looks like a natural berm
Ended up doing that eventually 👍Thanks for watching!
I love this project you guys have done it so well! I remember the original build video. Adding the bog and intake was an excellent choice. Hats off to you all👍
Thank you, Kevin!
This video should definitely have more views and Likes.
Thank you & thanks for watching!
@@Red.Scapes I really enjoyed it. I've watched 3 of your videos so far and I love the work you guys did on this project.
I love the hot tub project too. I see a great family business. ;)
@@ionhtx thanks for the kind words! Family business not out of the question, that's for sure 😉
We’ll done! 👏👏
Thank you!

actually i love the way the algae makes the waterfall look
just sayin :)
Natural, I kind of like it too ;) Thanks for watching!
Great video, thank you. What size are your bog and pond?
That was definitely not a 3000lb rock, 😅 but still a beautiful pond!
Great job 👏🏼. How do you protect it from animals and bacteria during the winter?
Thank you for watching!
The pond is 4 foot deep so no protection is needed from animals. Also waterfalls keep running during the winter when it's not super cold so the water circulates to help with bad bacteria (and we don't feed the fish at all in thre winter and that helps too). Of course, there is a bit of alge build-up during winter months, but that all goes away in the spring.
I like how the pond is right off of the porch. I really like the Rockford too. How many gallons or liters do you estimate this is?
About 5000 gallons. Thank you for watching!
I love this, just one question, where does your feed pipe for the wetland filter enter the wetland? I does it just feed into the white pvc pipe at the bottom through the rocks and shingle? Or does it go down your snorkel? Thanks.
Correct, it connects to the white pvc pipe, at the end of it.
I love it!!! So peaceful looking. Now that you have the koi fish, can you still swim in that pond? Did you build the hot tub... cool color lights.
Yes, we do swim with our fish! See here: ua-cam.com/video/NfEDIlvCypM/v-deo.html
And yes, we did build the hot tub ourselves. Family DIY project.
Thank you for watching!
@@Red.Scapes What state are you located in?
Illinois
If you'd like to watch the hot tub build you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/zt7GkeUz4fc/v-deo.html
@@Red.Scapes Thank you
Great job! What is the plant with big leaves above the rock?
It's called Bird Of Paradise. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! How hard is it to keep clean?
Very low maintenance since it is a natural ecosystem pond. We flush out and gunk from the wetland through the access point (bucket) once a year using a sump pump.
Thanks for watching!
Is your rain harvesting system connected directly to the intake bay? If so, how do you detox the contaminants in the rain water from the roof?
Yes
Hello! I really need help! I am starting a project for my family, it is small 5x2x1 meters. What size of bog filter do I need? Wet land connect to the bog filter?
Hi, 5% to 10% of the size of the pond should do. And yes, the intake bay is connected to the bog/wetland
what did you feed them 😆
Were those grubs or something?
I think so. Found them while digging. They love them.
When your plants die in winter do they come back??
Yes, all our pond plants are perennials and come back every spring.
You live in the city and have a forest in your backyard?
Hi, yes, technically a suburb but very close to the city. Thanks for watching!
4:35 looks more like a negative edge to me
That is correct. Thanks for watching!
