    I just got two Flemish Giants this weekend and intend to breed them at around 8 months. They are currently 3 months. Do you think that is a good age to do so

    When we you suggest working on free range training? My rabbit is coming home tommorow and is getting spayed at 8 weeks. We have a bunny house attached to a large dog crate and will have an exercise pen. I would like her free range eventually, at least most of the time.

      Let them get used to the cage and where the litter box is for a few weeks beofre doing loose in a larger space.

    Hi! I am an agrculture teacher and my students are getting into showing this breed! Do you show/ have any tips about how to show them?

    I have been told that the female rabbits grow to be larger than the male. Is that true? Also, can you talk about the traits required to show your bunny.

    • @beardsbountifulbunnies1655
      @beardsbountifulbunnies1655  3 роки тому +1

      Yes females do get bigger. And for show standards you need to get a ARBA Standard of perfection book. It tells you the standards for every breed and their colors .

    How bad is the shedding for flemish giants? I'v wanted a flemish for a years and I would let it free roam in my apartment like a dog. The possibility for year round shedding is the only thing that makes me hesitate.

    • @beardsbountifulbunnies1655
      @beardsbountifulbunnies1655  3 роки тому

      They don't shed bad. 2 times a year they go through moult where they shed thier entire coat. But if you brush them through it you can get them finished in about a week.

    Actually Flemish Giants are the largest breed. Continental are second largest breed.

    • @beardsbountifulbunnies1655
      @beardsbountifulbunnies1655  3 роки тому +1

      No. Continental giants are the largest. Most flemish giants range from 18 to 22 lbs as contis are much bigger. But Contis are not a recognized breed in America. So yes according to ARBA Flemish are the largest recognized breed but continental giants are the largest rabbits.

    Do you find they stop growing after they are spayed/neutered?? My girl needs spayed sooo bad. She is really aggressive towards other bunnies, but I'd hate for her to stop growing.

    Im thinking about buying a flemish cross rex? Is it best to get purbreeds or would a cross breed be friendly with kids too?

    • @beardsbountifulbunnies1655
      @beardsbountifulbunnies1655  5 років тому +2

      It doesn't really matter. Cross breeds can be just as friendly if you put the time into them and are calm when messing with them.

    I'm getting a baby Flemish Giant and while they are really small is it okay to keep them in a regular bunny cage until they get average wild bunny size? (Small) (I don't know what their current age is I think like about a week? I will find out later today.)

    • @beardsbountifulbunnies1655
      @beardsbountifulbunnies1655  3 роки тому

      When you bring home a flemish at 8 weeks it will already be bigger then a wild bunny. They hit 5 to 6 lbs by 10 weeks or so.

      @@beardsbountifulbunnies1655 ok thanks for the help. My cage is made for rabbits but it would be really small for a flemish giant. I'm going to discuss with my dad about finding a big cage online or building one.

    I don't think it's a good idea to raise rabbits in side the house but we all can raise rabbits in the outdoor area

      @beardsbountifulbunnies1655  4 роки тому +3

      The Continental giant is the largest rabbit in the world. The flemish giant is the second. Flemish range 15 to 22 lbs. As where Continental giants range over 30 lbs.
