I saw this project on instructables by system X. I tried to solder the components on a perforated circuit board but I couldn't get the solder to flow the way I wanted it too. Your PCB design helped me to complete this project. I couldn't have done it without your PCB design. Greetings from USA.
I love this video. I am looking to have 36 machines send a signal back to my office telling me what state of operation they are in. Using multi color LED's to tell me the different states. I think this video might get me in the right direction.
Could you explain what you changed in the code, I'm making one myself but when I went to implement the code in my arduino, I realized I didn't know which parts to change the code
is there need any darlngton trasitor or mosfet to give sufficient current to the leds?or not need bro?and can be it done with aurduino nano?then can u share the pic diagram?
As mentioned previously my strength is in electronics not Arduino software. I do not know which lines of code effect the addition of another 24 columns. Can you give some assistance?...thanks
I loved your video!!! It was great!!!! Do you have a video going more into detail about the following? 1) Editing the "define" length (as idk what that is).. Also, I'm familiar with how a shift register works, but not the other chip you used. But i'm not sure what the transistors were you had connected? What was there job? Thanks James
I solder 8x8 Dot Matrix. I use Anode as Column and Cathode as row. I use 2 of 74HC595. I connect each row directly to 74HC595. Now I'm able to display text but it's flickering. I was told to use 8 of BC547 transistor for each row. Do they fix the flickering problem?
I have been succesful building the 24 x 6 (144LED) Matrix. I think I could work out on getting the electrics to build a 48 x 6 unit, but I am not sure on the software. Have you thought about expanding the project? A great project so far.....thanks
Hi Joseph. Great !! I see that you successfully did the project. I am trying to order the PCB. I went into the link above www.instructables.com/id/Make-Your-Own-LED-Matrix-/ and downloaded the Gerber zip file and attached it in the JLCPCB site but it is saying that "Detected 4 layer board of 102x152mm(4x6 inches)". But in the video I see that it is a 2 layer PCB. Do I need to remove some file from the zip file that is available in the link. Please help me. Thank you
Hey friend can you help me to make digital clock problem is only power supply, 1) First I purchased 2.5 inches(approximate) 7 segment display but it requires 9V for each segment and I was not able to use high side transistor switch, so I made my own segment display with 2 led for each segment and total of 2*7*4=56 LEDs, and they also not glowing as expected, now I'm working on 3rd experiment on bread board with total of 28 LEDs, one LED for each segment. So nearest 7 segment works with maximum brightness and decreases with distance, thanks in advance
what are the different led matrices sizes (m*n) we can construct for an led display ., and by the way bro name of the pen you used for explanation in this video...????
Since you already have the breadboard, Y not all resisters, ic & transistors all mount on empty breadboard? Y still want to design & make the pcb board online? Especially u only making 1 board.
brother accidently i have switched the anode and shot all of them that means i switch the row and column opposite as you said what will i do now help me
I'm still a little confused. How are you able to toggle whether or not a row is grounded, and also how do you not have issues with unwanted LEDs turning on
Are you multiplexing each row ie 24 led? If so,then how are you powering it as then the maximum forward voltage is greater than 45 volts and you are only using a 5 volt? Please explain as i am only a beginner in arduino. Thank you.
Hi, I'm trying a simple version of this with 4 leds and I'm probably missing something. How am I supposed to light only the diagonal leds? According to connections shown, I can't understand how it's possible not to light all of them but pick just the diagonals...
You run a high frame rate and dither. I Wonder if it is possible to put a latch after the shift registers. Then per row you can load new versions of this row where more and more LEDs go dark. Then clock the latch ( without the latch would worry about EMI ). Shift registers are fast. You can probably do 8bit at this low resolution.
Hi,Nematics,i am doing this same project but on the row,i used 74hc595,and it 8*40, All things work right but the problem is i can not print out the numbers or some symbols like question mark on exclamation, can you please help me how to modify the codes so that i get the wanted result,
Finally, someone explains electronics instead of simply putting BG music. Thx!

Am amazed to see such vedios from Indian UA-cams and obviously a tech Frick ... Keep up up the good works man.. lots of good wishes
Thanks
freak* 😐
Wtf is frick? Also, “vedios”?
Really nice work. Thank you for uploading the video. I also plan to build my own LED matrix. I will use this as a reference.
Next up on Nematics Lab - I made a 1920×1080 wall sized display because I had a few LEDs lying around and didn't knew what to do.
Absolute Mad Lad
That would require almost 2 MILLION LEDS!
It would be:
- inefficient
- expensive as hell
- take days to solder
@@iProgramInCpp Sarcasm bud :)
@@iProgramInCppbut this is how these walls work. We just need to build a robot to do the job. LEDs from tape.
I made this,, it works like a charm, thanks for this...
But I have a question , I can't print more than 8 letters, please help
instead of soldering the LEDs like that, won't another custom-designed PCB work? or perhaps another 2 layers to the existing PCB?

Suspiciously looks like a GreatScott channel, but with desi accent.
the schematics are not that accurate
:D
Love From Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Nicely Explained dude 👍
Great Scott video style
You made the driver pcb using JLCPCB, but why you did not make the led matrix using JLCPCB too?
Interesting! Can you explain why you used a 4017 for rows rather than a fourth 74HC595?
i was wondering this too.
Beacuse 4017 is a decade counter but 74hc595 is a shift register....❤️❤️❤️
I think that this chanel is new version of GREAT SCOTT!
Haha same
Thank you very much, because I finally understood this from your video.🙂 🙂 🙂
Excellent project
Sir, if I want more than 6 row in it then what should I do and which ic I need for it
Very nice vid bro! keep it up!
Cool...from where is the letter code (B100xxxxx), how to make it?please make video tutorial using RBG LED with 4 legs if you dont mind...thankyou
Thank u(always wanted to make Kerfuś cosplay)

waiting for ages to do this project, had tried small matrix w/o shift registers, also messed up rows & columns so failed.
I think you could show the diagram for those who are not fast learners. it was an awesome video
There is a link in description
Thanks nematic, I made this project and it really works now I want more than 6 rows in it so what can I do for it and also which ic is used ??
what can we do for it to print the numbers as well??
To keep up the duty cycle, and a flipped version of it from below. 6 rows?? The 4170 does 10.
regester ohm plz
220ohm
There is one led witch is not working i think....
Very nice video
Yes, I was too lazy to change it :p

Excuse me, sir
I want to make it
But, what about the power suply ?
Is the suply source just from arduino ?
Thanks for the creative video btw
Please tell me the values of resistances
220 ohm
pretty good video but looks like the narration, explaining and sponcer is inspired by great scott
That's true
Yes
Yap!,..it's .almost copy everything from great Scott...from intro, to explanation, and also for searching circuit boards. Can't deny that way

How can get the PCB I want to do this project in my final year.

Can JLCPCB supply ready-made pcb as per requirement
Can we make it long ?

Speed up the frame rate. Scroll only every nth frame. Or use higher resolution

why is it so humorous to listen to an indian guy? im not saying this in a bad sense. i really enjoy it.
A great shit from Greatscott!! 😂... just kidding!! Great and carry on!!
X and Y. Great idea
what wire did you used to connect all anode sir?
hello, can you tell me on the CD 4017 is this good 220 ohm
Cool but will the code only say nematic?
Nope you can change it to anything just have a look at code you will understand

Anything goes, but with more rows your duty cycle gets shorter and shorter.
Nice. Good job. Now you can add a bluetooth system and, from de phone, you should send the text to your arduino.
Nice work
Where is the file
Tin lead yes, we don't use silver copper wire to solder

it will be complex.
Sorry to disappoint you indian guy,but there is only one GREAT SCOTT.
Nice job!
I'm still a little confused. How are you able to toggle whether or not a row is grounded, and also how do you not have issues with unwanted LEDs turning on
There surely is a power transistor per row. LEDs like any diode block current in one polarity. 3:45
I'm thinking to use UV leds to make a resin printer.
Can i increase the column no from 24 to 48 by using 3 more 74HC595 ics...? Plaese reply.
Yes
What does those ic's do?
How many coloms i can add maximum ?

LEDs are all parallel, but most of them are at reverse polarisation most of the time.
When do a class 11 student will learn about this?
In my opinion, start learning by yourself
Great sir ur first impression was very good . Sir plz make a full bridge inverter
From where did you bought silver copper wire
You can find them on amazon, but I bought it from local store

Multiplex . You run over the diagonal . Eye can’t see it if you do it 100 times a second
Great video! Helped me alot thanks
Is there any way to control the brightness of each LED using this technique?
You can add a simple PWM voltage regulator at Vcc
