I always love how this tiny potato-shaped body manages to hide a neck twice as long as the body itself. It just looks like a regular borb and then he sees something he wants; _Zoop!_
I live in Washington state where the great blue and night heron's are as common as sparrow's. I never knew these birds were this savage and awesome though!
Great blue herons live almost everywhere except deserts I live in a swamp in Texas and my back yard is in a flight path for herons, egrets and cormorants Even in the vacant lot beside me that floods regularly They’re all in there feasting on frogs and crawfish
Herons normally keep their long necks in an S-shape, with the back of the head held back near their shoulders. From this position they're poised to strike out at anything within neck's reach.
When I come across videos such as this, I'm absolutely amazed, I watched and thank the CREATOR for the wonders of HIS CREATIONS!!! I couldn't believe how they can swallow their food whole, but then again, it shows the WISDOM OF THE CREATOR GOD!!!
Thanks for the kind words. It was a hot uncomfortable day but worth the pain. Each year I can't wait spring and summer to get out and get more footage!
I appreciate this so much! I've been able to view blue herons fairly closely, but the greens have always been much more shy and elusive in my experience.
@2:34 Didn't realize that the white and yellow surrounding was water. I thought it was peculiar pebbly sand. Wonderful video - only bird and its environment, no talk 👍🏽- such a rare thing on UA-cam! Poor bird - has to think long and plan how it's going to swallow the catch.
Had no idea how predatory herons are ... how relentless and reptilian the behaviour ... especially how big their prey often is ... and ... like snakes ... how much stretch their necks have in order to accomplish swallowing their often still alive and 'kicking' meals ... they can sccomodate the massive size snd often awkward assemblage of limbs their hapless victims present ... Such beauty yet such deadly intent ...
Plixels No, that’s not weird! But u funny! 😂 I’m a Floridian and we (just my family) always called them the Sneaky Bird! Then another dumbass Adam Sandler movie came out (I have no idea which one) and we started to call them the Very Very SSSneaky Bird! 😂. Uahhh, we crack ourselves up, don’t we?!? 🤓😁
Wouldve liked 2c how it caugjt that frog. Usually they fish by spearing, but that frog didnt look injured. And they usually bloat to avoid being eaten but it didnt seem to.

Incredible footage. Thank you for uploading!
The colour pattern and the lighting on that first bird's wings was amazing.
It was a male.

If owls are the bird equivalent of cats, then I’m convinced at this point that herons are the bird equivalent of snakes.

Great vid. One of favorites of the acres.
I enjoyed the green heron very much; I look forward to seeing the blue, red, orange, and yellow herons next time.
Wonderful photography, I appreciate how much it takes to obtain such videos.
No useless music that good to hear nature talking
Would never have believed he could swallow that whole frog. Love the two legs popping out.🤣

@@stone2235 calm down, they weren't blaming you.
Thought swallowing the fish was something else until the frog came along. 😳❤

How long that neck really was? The bird has a deceiving look, with a stretchable neck. Awesome. 👍

Wow, a shortneck green heron suddenly turns into a longneck green heron.
And then a fatneck green heron.

Frog:I hope you choke
Heron: hold my beer
I love a bit green pond slime with my fresh fish! Seriously though - epic filming - a real joy to watch. Well done that man!

I got a question.. what type of camara are you using
Are you seriuous? ua-cam.com/users/CorallusKeepervideos
Got to see one yesterday. :)
Wow superb and so much intelligent
Does he poop out the frog bones, or does his stomach acid dissolve them?
Nothing left only a shit stain
Yes!
Great work. I live in S. C. This year I have seen more Green Herons than ever before. I will be posting my clips in a few days.
Douglas Roderick Lanier You might to be very lucky in something if you saw heron more often ! Or new opportunity might appear ☀️😉🧞♂️

Exactly... One wouldn't put it up to them going just by their innocent looks.
سبحان الله، ما أجمل خلقه.
Good clean swallow on the fish but and easy one 6/10. The frog was kind of disorganized but more diffcult and the finish was clean and emphatic. 8/10.

If it fits, it’s going in!!
My Big D won't;)
Very similar to humans in the sense that after having food we wash our hands and the heron did it too to its beaks after having the 🐸
One minute your sunbathing, next minute your being swallowed whole. I couldnt think of a worse way to go.
Theyre swallowing you

Herons are so badass
Finally the frog settled in the throat..not in the stomach
Supreme killers of the precision craft that frog was big and wonder if it was still alive frog hell must have been that
Amazing
Is it green or blue..🤔
Thank you bro nice one...
That's Butorides virescens. In Puerto Rico we call it 'martinete'.
This heron needs to come across the blue dart frog.....that'd be the last frog he'd ever eaten....🤣
Animals know when their prey is poisonous
If herons didn't know and recognize it by now, they would be extinct by that cause alone.
Wouldve liked 2c how it caugjt that frog. Usually they fish by spearing, but that frog didnt look injured. And they usually bloat to avoid being eaten but it didnt seem to.
