Not only were the bats able to recreat a giant batman they were able to perfectly coordinate themselves in such a way that they were able precisely mimic the realistic movements of a billowing cape. Those bats had to be smart as fuck

True, At first i dropped in on the movie expecting some really compelling storytelling with this incredibly unique premise but as soon as the mech shit came in I was like "Okay, so this is HOW you should treat this movie" very jarring but still ended up enjoying it just as long as you set your expectations right
Batman Ninja is like asking genie for a car, but instead of a humble simple car we get a flying car, with missiles and gattling gun, controled using an in-build joystick and can only run if all of it's passenger is fully wasted or high

That Chinese Batman anime short was from 2012 when Cartoon Network would premiere DC-related tv shows and shorts called “DC Nation” every Saturday morning. That’s also where Beware the Batman and Green Lantern: TAS come from. Unfortunately DC Nation didn’t last very long and was canned after a year or two. Good times though.

When you look at the movie as a journey from traditional Batman to pure Batshit Insanity and accept that for what it is it’s actually pretty fun. I’m it “good”? Honestly I dunno. But it seemed like the people who made it had fun and that helped me have fun too.
I would say that it is objectively good, but movies are sources of entertainment- if your movies bad, but fun, you kinda succeeded. And it’s good that even though I believe it’s objectively good, (Good reviews, good characterization, strong plot) it’s great that this movie has a cushion of ‘dumb fun’ to land on. Because as much as I like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy…
Sometimes I kinda just want to watch Transformers 3 and have a good time.
I was litteraly thinking about this movie earlier. It’s a masterpiece, complete, comprehensive, it captures the Batman Ninja spirit.

I just love how f*cking stupid and bonkers this movie is, it just keeps throwing crazy things at you every 10 minutes and I love how unpredictable it is, we assume its going to be a serious movie about Batman learning the ninja life in japan but nope Transformer Bat-Monkey Titan Giant vs Joker Bigboy Robot go brrrrrh
Also the reason why there are mechs and robots is because this movie is a love letter to animes like Gundam or Evangelion, and I think it would not be received as badly if its titled something like "Batman: Ninja Mech Warriors" or something more fun instead of just "Batman: Ninja" which sounds like a serious and dark movie

I originally thought the movie was gonna be in an alternate universe where Batman's origin starts in feudal Japan. Was disappointed when I first watched the movie.

never understood the hate for this movie tbh. Thought it was really solid, both in the original Japanese as well as the English dub. My only real complaint is that i wish some of the female Bat-family members were there other than just the four Robins.

Even if I wasn't a fan of time-traveling being the reason for the story happening, the animation and characters were still really good. However, I find everything falls apart in the final third act.
I'm curious to hear what everyone else thought of monkeys coming together to form a bigger monkey, and the bats coming together to form a giant Batman.

Uhhh the “Batman Prophecy” is actually connected to mythology of Japan. The “Man of Darkness who serves the light” is quite literally in many of the Shinobi and Samurai code. It’s a prophecy because it’s already in the mythos of the nation. Also, it’s a Superhero movie. His greatest villain is a clown and this is what you’re getting hung up on?
Okay …so as a fellow writer and a person who wrote a literary paper on Japanese media for a journal before working as an agent full time: I think you have some very large misconceptions about what you’re taking in here.
The “Time period doesn’t fit” criticism isn’t taking into account the Original storytelling around Shinobis that was very popular in the 20th century, it was wild and they created large gigantic things to fight in and what not. These stories inspired: Naruto, Gundam and Super Sentai (what became Power Rangers in the US)

Okay…not to be otaku as fuck here but…Samurai≠Ninja. They are oil and water. Cats and Dogs. This movie isn’t “Great” and I am not trying to defend it or anything but…your misconceptions that it was some kind of realistic Nolan-Esque stylized story isn’t really it’s fault. It’s also disgusting that they pretty much copy and pasted the Japanese script and barely credited the guy to be clear.
Also, why do you reference Naruto so much if you have never even touched it? Like, this stuff isn’t that much crazier than Naruto but I think if you watched Naruto, you would enjoy it. It has a very strong thematic premise (which from what I can’t tell you enjoy) and the performances are very strong.

23:22 that was an amazing delivery, I loved how his voice became a little hoarse.
The issue with the 3D in this film and in a lot of anime, is that the use of 3D is to mimic 2D. 3D shouldn't be used to mimic, at least not in the forefront, even 3D cars in the background can break immersion if done poorly. Using 3D to emulate 2D is like chopping down a tree with a broadsword, yes you can if you know what you're doing, but a broadsword isn't an axe and it works best when it is complimented as a broadsword. The best use of 3D animation, Spiderverse, Land of the Lustrous, etc, understand 3D animation as it's own medium.
Batman is technically a ninja already before the anime
If you like the Idea of a Anime Batman show.. You have to watch Gotham Knight. It's soo good. It's like 6 different mini story. Different version of Batman as well as animations. 🙏

this movie reference so many things like Anime,tokustasu and Japanese culture and I love it
Most improvements are accessible to be made 2D, the 3D can be lovely and aesthetic. But 2D is more for active and artistic expression that can be much more pleasing and unconventional.
I really enjoyed this video! The reactions were so relatable! I watched this movie years ago I kinda wish it went in another direction. Honestly, the mecha parts lost me lol. I wish the famous warlords of the sengoku era would have been part of the narrative at least for a little while. Because the war is centered on them. Maybe focus more on the war aspect more. But I understand this is the movie we got & it's not supposed to make sense.

With time travel if you go back to the past you are meant to be there. But no this is not the first time batman has appeared back in time, In fact batman has time traveled and has had many host throughout the eons. So knowing batman's lore the fact that there is a batman prophecy shouldn't phase you one bit.
