This right here is how i learnt how to conrow. I could close my eyes and see in my mind a youtube video about conrows. And boom i now plait my roommates
When I do my own braids I absolutely *have* to close my eyes. You’re already braiding backwards/reversed and watching a mirror doubles the confusion because then your movements are reversed too and it liquifies my brain every time. I only look at the 3 strands when I’m starting a new row, but I close my eyes before starting and just picture what I’m doing as if I’m looking down at it. You’ll get it babe, I promise, you’re already doing great.
You are doing it over instead of under which is a french braid. Try to hold your fingers close to your scalp and use your pointer finger and thumb in a pinching motion to grab the hair under not over. So the outside pieces will go under the middle piece. Practice. Eventually it will be a lot easier to do. And yeah I cant look in the mirror when i braid my own hair either lol I do mine while watching a movie.
Practice makes perfect. You got this. Doing your own hair is so rewarding and your wallet will thank you. I learned how to do this at 9 yrs old because I am extremely tender headed. I was done paying to be tortured by others so I started torturing myself for free. Lol 😊❤
Ok - so I learned to cornrows on blow dried flat iron hair - I know wierd, right- and I would do it at night so no pressure because no one saw my cornrows 😂😂 also watch people do it on themselves 🤗 keep going, you got good
I'm just learning at 46yrs old....i have to close my eyes and repeat left under the middle & pick up hair, right under the middle pick up hair..... don't let nobody distract me, i can't talk and braid yet😂😂😂
don't focus on making it perfect! make big cornrows and just practice getting the finger grip right. and with more and more practice you'll be able to do neater smaller braids
Lol I'm a hairstylist and I used to be this way in the beginning even after all my training. I couldn't braid or 2 strand twist my hair or anyone elses for that matter lol. I was going to say close your eyes and go slow before watching the end. Your fingers will guide your mind if that makes since. I've been doing hair almost 20yrs and sometimes my hands want to do other things because i style hair so much....especially if I've been braiding all day😊 it's ok and its normal
I am the exact opposite. I can do it on myself but other people is another story. I have gone as far as to teach someone how to braid their own hair by watching me braid mine. I go by feel not only through my fingers tips but also my scalp. Closing your eyes let’s you focus on feeling what you are doing. I can braid long hair in free braids but I can’t do scalp braids on anyone except myself. The reason being is my grip feels off. I end up not pulling high enough or tight enough and everything near the roots ends up loose. Probably because I am afraid of hurting the person and pulling too tight. I can control pain on myself but not another person.
This is literally me! “ I gotta stop, I gotta watch a video” lol that’s how I got to this lol 😂 I’m doing it right now and it really is just keep your eyes closed lol
For real. Looking at the mirror just confuses me so I do it without looking lol. I learned from feeling my mom’s hand on my hair. She never did flat twists so no matter how many tutorials I watch neither my hands nor my brain can comprehend how to do it 💀
One thing that helped me was not thinking of the pinch & grab as for the outside pieces but instead for the middle piece & it was the only way I could progress the braid. So basically you’d scoop the hair under the middle piece and grab the outside pieces like “normal” when you are going to pinch & grab the outside pieces. 😅😅 It definitely helpeddd me so I hope it makes sense.
It looks like u're braiding with ur nails, you need to use the finger tips. They should be on ur roots. You should start with a triangle, each "point" of the triangle needs to be the 3 pieces you start off with. Looking in the mirror while actually braiding makes ur mind loopy n twisted
Man i've always wanted to get cornrows done because it looks so pretty on you ladies!!! But i'm white/hispanic but i look white so i don't want an lash back so i'ma do this only at home, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
This is literally me but I just somehow figure it out every other time 🥴 I’m better on other people than myself. Like you said, the math stops mathing sometimes 😮💨🫠
"The moment I start touching my hair the maths stop" best description ever lool
The accurate thing on the internet was this statement
I laughed out loud and woke up my bf 😂
This is what I came to the comments for 😭
More like “the second I touch my hair my brain just disappears” 😂
😂
“Oo my arms r tired and I didn’t even do anything” most real statement ever
Literally 😂
Best way is not to watch yourself but hand placement. Your mind's eye will figure it out. The mirror is reversed and causes the most confusion
This is the best advice!! Close your eyes and honestly gel/hair milk/leave in for flyaways
Sooo true
Honestly, as long as you keep trying, your mind's eye will figure it out.
Oooh thank you! That’s likely where I was messing up lol
This right here is how i learnt how to conrow. I could close my eyes and see in my mind a youtube video about conrows. And boom i now plait my roommates
Let your fingers do the work, don't look at it, the spirit will guide you
This gives me the courage to try again 😂
Loooool
I’m back to say this is sound advice I’m getting better
THIS IS SO REAL
Fr!

Looks like it started a French braid but ended as a cornrow? Either way, if she can do even that, she’ll get it 😍❤️
Aaw i now understand why my hands pain🤣🤣🤣
Practice makes perfect. You got this. Doing your own hair is so rewarding and your wallet will thank you.
I learned how to do this at 9 yrs old because I am extremely tender headed. I was done paying to be tortured by others so I started torturing myself for free. Lol 😊❤
I don't know how to braid, plait, twist, or cornrow my own hair so I let someone else do it. You got much further than I've ever gotten.
Keep practicing baby girl. You did great! You’ll get it😉
Beautiful Smile!!!
Don't stop when you're tired, stop when you're done. If you believe you can, then you can.💯
While i can cornrow my hair perfectly, this is me with flat twists. I can’t seem to master them
Same here!! & flat twist are supposed to be easier but it’s okay we will get with more practice!
The struggle is real, thank you for posting.
Lol. I learned on my own head first when I was about 14. Now I do my daughters hair.
unrelated but you’re so beautiful ❤
Ok - so I learned to cornrows on blow dried flat iron hair - I know wierd, right- and I would do it at night so no pressure because no one saw my cornrows 😂😂 also watch people do it on themselves 🤗 keep going, you got good
OMG this is sooo mee but in the end I would just give up 😭
I'm just learning at 46yrs old....i have to close my eyes and repeat left under the middle & pick up hair, right under the middle pick up hair..... don't let nobody distract me, i can't talk and braid yet😂😂😂
Sooo happy and proud of you!!! I remember this exactly feeling!! closing eyes worked for me too!!! Yaaaay you!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Don't look at the mirror..just close your eyes and feel it😂 the spirit will guide you
You are literally like me lmaoooo my arms tho would always get tired before finishing the braids 😭
Close your eyes, look away, don't think too much about and braid like you know what you are doing till you do😂😂😂
don't focus on making it perfect! make big cornrows and just practice getting the finger grip right. and with more and more practice you'll be able to do neater smaller braids
Having the same struggle😢😢 I’m alr at corn rowing other peoples hair but when it’s my hair I struggle a lil too much

Doing cornrows is a whole arm exercises and i felt that
Literally same. I can do designs in my daughter’s hair but not two simple straight backs in my own hair??
Respect to black women and their hair.

I always braid better when I don’t use a mirror and just take it slow! And try to grab the bottom part of the hair it will be better
This is literally me! “ I gotta stop, I gotta watch a video” lol that’s how I got to this lol 😂 I’m doing it right now and it really is just keep your eyes closed lol
This is me too 😒
This whole video is me… dammit😭
Nearly - i gotta do this!
i close my eyes too!! Bahaha
You did it! 😃
Same things happen to me...arms get tired and hurt so fast and i forget what I'm supposed to do and mu hands in the wrong place🤭
HAHA!AAAA!! I so feel all of this right now.
Yes, you have to close your eyes. That’s exactly how I learned too
This was so funny😂😂😂
For real. Looking at the mirror just confuses me so I do it without looking lol. I learned from feeling my mom’s hand on my hair. She never did flat twists so no matter how many tutorials I watch neither my hands nor my brain can comprehend how to do it 💀

I’m the opposite! I can cornrow my hair but not another person it’s so backwards to me 😂
this is dope lol Attagirl🤙🏼♥️
Omg I wish I could’ve did them for u
I gave up 30 years ago. I can twist my hair to my scalp and by twist I mean roll... that's it.
Nice

This is so me 😂
flat twists are much easier than cornrows 😊

My problem is I could do my hair but I cannot do others.
I still can't get it.. even after watching videos😢😢😢😢

Me everytime I do my own hair lmao
This is me allll day!!
I give up😂 I guess I don't have it in me
Why did you close OUR eyes 😭
I wanted to see
I cant look in the mirror when I do my cornrows or I’ll mess up 🤣 I don’t know why
I can’t do it . I gave up
I can braid hair except my own. I’ve tried several times and it’s a no almost 50yrs I can’t do it anymore
Everything in here is so me
I do it without looking in the mirror, and I bend my head toward my shoulder, not away from it.
Its annoying lol , I can never get my parts straight 😂😂😂😂😂
you have beautiful teeth
It came out so bad that’s me too tho
Man i've always wanted to get cornrows done because it looks so pretty on you ladies!!! But i'm white/hispanic but i look white so i don't want an lash back so i'ma do this only at home, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
What video did you watch?
I was just about to say don't look..
It is so much harder on your own head frfr
My hat off to people with 4c hair texture… that is so much work ❤❤❤❤
Great great but maybe don’t name it “how to”
I celebrate U
Don’t put your hand behind your head like that. Makes the process much more difficult.
Meee
I can't cornrow either
Jesus loves you! 🩷🤗
Romans 6:23> For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus Loves you ❤
