      I would say it could sound close to a Snowball with some audio editing. You can hear it clipping a couple times when he talks louder, but that can be fixed pretty easily in Audacity.

      a couple time? he clips non-stop.. it's dumb.. he makes this mic sound like shit.. no idea why youtubers allow that to happen in every damn mic test video out there.

    I'll be honest, I was skipping through the video to the point where you were testing the audio quality of the mic because I thought: "surely he is using his own mic right now." I'm amazed at how great this mic sounds!

    lol that tape moment hahaha
    wow. that mic really sounds clean. as clean as any of the 100USD presenter mics I've seen from other manufacturers. I've noticed a bit of clipping. Holy crap that has some awesome build quality! When you moved the mic to adjust it, I barely heard any handling noise and any volume drops. 10/10 would love to have one. definitely loving these over modmics.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  8 років тому +2

      +LouisM Yeah. In the supplemental article I write, I point out that the signal is really hot and that there is a bit of clipping. My input gain was set at 5% for this. You can fix it by moving the mic slightly farther away though. =)

    I feel like I'm not the only one watching this, after buying the Playstation Platinum Headset because wow was that mic a disapointment for the price.
    The even sadder part was that I have a H4N Zoom microphone I use via USB on my PC and quality is amazing. Plug it into the PS4 and it randomly higher pitches everything. Sounds like voice changer, even though that's on the PS3.
    Sony let me down on that, but thank you so much for the upload.

    I got fed up with conventional "gaming headsets", that compromise too much in sound quality or the mic. The best I had so far was the Hyper X Cloud 2, but they were still way too bassy for anything but gaming with explosions and whatnot. So, I paired the Boompro with a pair of Audio-Technica M50xBTs (the newish Bluetooth version. It has a 3.5mm input vs. the older wired version that has a semi proprietary 2.5mm jack, so note the Boompro won't work on wired M50x's out of the box) and now I have great sound, and a good mic too! Plus I can unplug it and go wireless for music. They're my everything headphones.

    Noob question here: Would I need an external sound card or some sort of phantom power since my iMac (desktop mac) has both a mic and a headphone input? I ask this because I tried a logitech headset which, by itself didn't work. With a cheap external sound card I could hear myself, but just barely and only when the gain was turned all the way up, which added a lot of hiss. I really just want a decent headset inexpensive headset for youtube audio, but I'm willing to purchase extra hardware if required. Thanks - very helpful review! (Thumbs up'ed).

      +Podcastage Hey! I just discovered your channel a few days ago and for a (relatively from what I know) new youtuber, I must say I am super impressed. All of your reviews are super professionnal, very clean and scientifically driven. And even though you seem to know quite a lot about mics, you impose the same treatment for each new mic you're reviewing with rigourous and basic - but efficient - methods, and only judge them at the end. And I love your enthousiasm, plus the videos are super good quality. In two words, good job!
      All of that to just ask you something that might be useful for you too:
      Why don't you do like in a guy's channel called "Z-Reviews" (very good channel) where the dude reviews (I couldn't have guessed, really, haha!) stuff (mostly high end audiophile headphones and speakers) that subscribers lend to him (he gets an headphone for like a week and then sends it back). Since a lot of the headphones that he is reviewing are rare and quite pricy, he doesn't need to sell a kidney in order to make all of these reviews, haha! And also he gets to review a very large diversity of products thanks to this method.
      And that's where the first part of my comment comes in hand: you're growing fast, with good quality and trustworthy content. So I guess It'd not be hard to put in place the very same system. I even have already seen a guy in one of your videos in the comment section saying that he could lend you his mic asking for a review.
      I'm a genius, I know.

      No they don't. You would have to use a DAW to get live monitoring, and there will likely be some latency.

    I have a pc with a Asus maximus VIII hero motherboard. Do you think i will need to have a usb sound card or will it directly work with my motherboard? Also, is there a way to have better quality noise isolation on this mic?

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  8 років тому

      I'm honestly uncertain if you will need a USB Soundcard. You may not. You can always buy a USB Soundcard if the performance is not up to the level you want. And there isn't any way to get better isolation since it is an omnidirectional mic. The other optino is a Unidirectional Mod Mic 4.0

    • @Shahzad-Khan

    Will it work with a head set that already has mic

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  8 років тому

      Only if the headset has a detachable 3.5mm cable that connects to the headphones. I do not mean a 3.5mm port that you plug the microphone into. This will be a 3.5mm port that you plug a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect it to your computer with.

    does this mic with work the ATH-M50X? I asked so many places but still waiting for answer... :(

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  8 років тому +1

      +DagicCross Based on the removability of the cord, I would say it should work. But...some headphones have a really strange plug on them that limit what shape rubber grip of the 3.5mm plug can be. But to me it looks like it would work. But once again...this is pure speculation. I don't want to say 100% yes because I have never held those headphones in my hand and tested them...I'm basing this on pictures online.

    • @pizza88
      @pizza88 8 років тому +1

      +Podcastage Thanks for that quick answer! I'm still doing some more research, It is not necessary getting the M50X but I needed a good pair of studio headset with a good mic on, what do you recommend? Most importantly it needs to be comfortable for the purposes :)

    Man, this thing sounds wildly inconsistent sometimes. On my main desktop plugged into my headphone port, this sounded extremely muffled and kinda terrible. On my notebook/tablet, it sounded clearer, and it sounded much better with a USB sound card.

    • @Podcastage

      I think that the real issue is inconsistency in audio ports on motherboards.

    • @lambentblaze736

      Probably. This desktop has given me some trouble with noise/interference in USB as well. Just bought a Sabrent to see if the noise continues.
