  • Watch us as we treat this concrete slab home for termites! This treatment only took us about two hours. If you watch this video you will be able to protect your valuable home from destructive termites. And yes they will find your home if it doesn’t have coverage, it’s just a matter of time…

    To recap: We treated this concrete slab home for termites. All you need to complete this treatment is a 5 gal bucket, termiticide chemical, water, shovel, and gloves. First, measure the outside perimeter of the structure. This will tell you how much chemical you need to buy. You will need to purchase about .32 fl oz of chemical per 1 linear foot. Second, dig a trench along the outside perimeter of your home, deep enough so the chemical doesn’t run out. Third, mix the chemical with water as according to the label. Always follow label instructions. Fourth, apply the mixture to the soil and let is soak in. Then that’s about it, just clean up and rinse the pesticide container before you throw it away.
    Comment any questions you have below!
    I recommend using the chemicals Taurus SC or Termidor SC. Both chemicals will give you at least 10 years of termite protection (if done correctly). You should be able to find them to purchase on line.

    Educate your audience on PPE. You’re using one of the strongest products available on the market and have no safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves, waterproof boots or anything. Teach them to give a minimum 6” gap between your water source and what you fill. Any lil kid who goes up to that water source on the side of the home for drink of water is now at risk due to splash back. Your channel is awesome. Just some feedback.

    That 'piece of wood' you pulled out of the bait station is actually an always active fipronil type bait station. That is one they eat, take back to the colony and destroy the nest.
    They are great, but they are not a single service solution IMO. They rely too much on pot luck of termites finding them.

I have a circular driveway in front of my house. Should I also trench from the street up to the house and around & next to the U shape? 2. What's the best sprayer ( I dont care about the cost) to reach the untreated wood in my attic of my Florida home?. I'm a female & I don't ont want to go all the way up on the beams in the attic to spray. Is there a sophisticated sprayer or fogger that reaches to the other side of a 1600 sq feet house? Do one or both: trench & treat the perimeter of concrete; drill holes in concrete & inject termiticide. There are videos & label instructions for both methods. For example, some drill 1/2" wide holes 12" apart along perimeter of garage floor, walkway, driveway, patio, etc & inject termiticide like Taurus SC. Add DIY bait stations, too. You can find video for that online. Don't ever use termite repellants bx you want them to injest & spread toxin to kill the colony. I'm not sure repellants work anyway.

    Baits DO work. They aren't just pieces of wood in soil. There are at least 2 types of bait. For an infestation, I'd trench & add bait stations. If there are no signs of activity, use 2 or more types of bait. IGRs are the slowest acting, but they do work.

    A couple of things... Dan is missing PPE. The label specifies Gloves & Long Sleeves (not rolled up.) Also, read and follow the instructions on the label exactly. It is violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Not "This is close enough, you don't have to be exact." In this case, the minimum trench depth is 6" or to the bottom of the footing. "Just 3-4 inches" as done in the video is not consistent with the labeling. If you're doing it yourself, I recommend doing it in 10 foot sections for consistency. Trench 10 feet, mix your concentrate, pour, fill.

      Yes sure thing!…. This is all based off the label. Just requires some math

    • @DanTheBugMan
      @DanTheBugMan  2 роки тому +3

      The label says apply .8 fl oz of concentrate per gallon of finished solution. This is the dilution rate…. Then, it says apply 4 gallons of finished solution per 10 linear feet of soil you are treating. That means for every 10 linear feet you will use 3.2 fl oz of concentrate (.8 x 4)…. So if you need 3.2 fl oz of concentrate per 10 linear feet, then you need 65.2 fl oz of concentrate for 204 linear feet. So 78 is more than enough, you would actually only need 65 fl oz for a adequate treatment

No down drilling of porches, incorrect linear footage, not even mentioning treating the tub traps in the house, which are notorious for being the root causes of many a Subterranean infestation. @@DanTheBugMan hi, your video is the first ive seen that didnt drilled through concrete slab and advised to just treat around its perimeter, some even drilled through tiles as if termites can penetrate through them. i think your advice makes much more sense, it should work as long as the house is fully surrounded with the chemical. our house is surrounded with concrete slab then chb wall as perimeter fense, if i drill thorugh the concrete slab right beside the house, treat, then plug the holes, termites can just safely climb the concrete slab going to the house without even touching the treated soil. i have a rotary hammer so drilling should not be a problem but i dont want to waste time, money, effort, applying the chemical that will not work at all. does it make more sense if instead of drilling our concrete slab, i will treat the soil of the adjacent house right after our chb perimeter wall? basically, i will treat the soil at most 3 meters away from our house instead of drilling through the concrete slab few inches right beside our house. pardon my english but hopefully you or someone can give an advice. tnx

    • @DanTheBugMan

      oninster84 thanks for watching! Yea drilling is almost never necessary, only sometimes. As long as you establish a barrier in the soil around the perimeter of your home, you will be protected. The chemical compound kills the colony of termites when it comes in contact

    This is a very dangerous video. It’s obvious that he’s making money on his videos and his links to sell products that he also makes a percent of sales. When he talks about measurements, he says it doesn’t have to be exact. I’m not sure which state he’s in, but in most states it has to be exact or you can be held liable for ground contamination. In every state the label is the law. Mix according to the instructions on the product, apply the product according to the instructions on the label. This includes treating all of the soil that is placed back into the trench. For a “post construction treatment” To properly treat your home you must do a complete perimeter treatment. This includes drilling holes every 12 inches on all expansion joints adjoining the slab and under roof. Also treating (1-4Gallons) underneath bathtubs and showers where there is access, 50% of structural Termite infestations occur in these two areas. 78 ounces makes 100 gallons of Termicide at .06%. The label states to use 4 gallons of mixed product per 10 linear feet(this is 1 gallon every 2.5 linear feet) this includes treating the back fill dirt. You can do it yourself and save money, just follow the label. Imagine if every homeowner were to not follow the mixing instructions how much ground contamination would affect your neighborhood. Be responsible Thank you.

    Dude I had respect for you until I watched this video. First off you did an absolutely horrible termite treatment. Saying that you don’t need a barrier all the way around the house is completely false. You absolutely do. You didn’t drill any of the concrete and treat under it so that area is completely exposed. You actually do have to treat the dirt that is put back into the trench. If you actually read the label it tells you this. You use 3 gallons per 10 ft in the trench and then 1 gallon on top after you put the dirt back. All that is bad enough but for you to say that pest control company just put wood sticks in the stations and charged for it is a flat out lie. That stick IS THE BAIT. That house was completely protected from termites with those stations. If I lived there I absolutely would not use y’all’s company. You did a horrible treatment and then lied about another company. Also if you would use a spray rig instead of a bucket you could do a much better job. On a final note you better hope the EPA doesn’t see this video. You are not wearing the proper PPE at all
