--------
In the latest clip, Don Frye opened up about his star-making performance at UFC 8 where he knocked out local favorite Thomas Ramirez in eight seconds. Later in 1996, Frye fought Tank Abbott, who was one of the most feared competitors at the time. After defeating Abbott with a chokehold, Frye admitted that their rivalry is still active - so much so that Abbott ignored him when they ran into each other over a decade ago. After talking about fighting outside of the ring, Frye addressed accusations that his third fight against Mark Hall was fixed. He denied the claims by highlighting that he had already defeated Hall their two previous fights.
Following his victory at UFC's Ultimate Ultimate 96 Tournament, Don Frye retired from the UFC and joined New Japan Pro Wrestling where he became a star in Japan. Frye admitted that growing up watching Ric Flair, Terry Funk, and Bruno Sammartino influenced him to join pro wrestling. However, Frye suffered a broken neck and returned to MMA where he joined Pride Fighting Championships.
Shortly after joining Pride, Frye fought UFC Hall of Fame member Ken Shamrock in a classic bout. Frye talked about taking oxycodone before the fight and suffering hairline fractures to his ankles during the fight. While he won the fight by a split decision, he admitted that him and Shamrock were not the same after the fight. - Розваги
This dude is certified tough. Beast back in the day.
For sure, I bet he could still beat down 99% of people on earth
@@Hope-Truth-Light He still looks scary after all of these years .... Lol.
For sure. Frye is just one of those tough ass dudes. If he wasn't fighting for money, he'd be roping bulls and laying barbed wire fence at 7am.
Blaq Byrd 281 My Exact Thoughts ✅
Look at some of his early fights.... legit bad ass!!
If whiskey and unfiltered cigarettes had a baby it would be Don Frye.
Lmao!!!
Well....miley cirus got the same voice
Don Frye is a legend. His rockem sockem fights in pride Japan and his early UFC tournament days were legendary.
Facts
Amen, brother. Amen.
Wish there was fighters today like him.
Are not were. They are still legendary.
@@setharnold3699 you dont watch combat sports if you truly believe this. the multiple skill levels the fighters are at now a days + intake/output volume of strikes/grappling is vastly greater
I just really enjoy listening to Don he laughs at stuff like it's nothing. He is arguable the toughest men I've seen in combat sports.
I think he cracked my nose... ha ha ha 😆
Me too I love listening to him no matter what he talks about. I pray he lives to be 120
This guy has been 45 yrs old for the last 2 decades. Lol
He actually looks pretty good. Better than I thought he would look nowadays. He was looking pretty ragged a few years back. He looks sort of rejuvenated.
55**
He was a grown man at 12
Glad he doesn’t look washed, just a few greys but looks and sounds healthy
@@DB-qx7dr which video are you watching? he doesn't sound nor look healthy
Don Frye sounds like a.Georgia shade tree mechanic who always says "IT'S YER ALT-NATER" if your car won't start

This dude will be remembered in 100 years bc of the takayama fight
that warms my soul.what a fight ,both of em gave hell
YES. I remember showing my wife that fight when I taped on VHS years ago on PPV and she's been a MMA fan ever since lol
Longer
always a fixed real fight in my opinion. agreed upon opening clinch punch exchange at least, shit was amazing to see, but very sus, and even more sus when they re-enacted it in that movie a few years later lol.
@Baba Ed there's a difference between a pre-determined outcome and agreeing to make a fight entertaining. Pride was a weird company.
Don Frye is the real deal. You'd be best not to mess with that dude even today.
Yup he'd f*ck some sh!t up even now. R.I.P. to any guy not knowing who Don Frye is and f*cks with him at a bar or something. Good night Irene! Lmao!
Dog the bounty hunter koed him at a public event. Hes old and frail now
Imagine you pick your date up and get father is Don...
Tough bastard
@@TheTilihtos Wrong.
Frye was a beast... it’s weird to see him now days because he already looked old back in the day
Don always did have that 'born looking 50 years old' face
He do lol 😂

Love em back in the day.. Was like Magnums bug dangerous brother.
Real life Mike Haggar from Final Fight
Him and dan severin definitely.
He actually starred in a final fight commercial in Japan
@@neilyringworm thats awsome! What year about was this and which ff game was it for?
@@macadonis9242 you know what....that was always the rumour and I've just looked it up. It's not him haha. It was Final Fight 2. Looks a bit like him but it's not.

Don Frye was my favorite fighter back in the day. He was an absolute beast and looked like the Marlborough Man
Don Frye a true legend and a badass
Finally an interview where Suge or Tupac wont be brought up
I was thinking the same thing about the comments, then I read yours
Vlad: did you ever fight any of the fighters outside the cage?
Don Frye: Not intentionally
Me:🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Things happen when you're having a good time.😂😭
@@KWillo right real old school shit. Get drunk, fight, laugh it off, rinse and repeat
I had the joy of meeting don frye and Chuck zito walking by me while I was in line at an arnold fitness classic in columbus ohio. No one knew who he was and I fan boy-ed out and ran up to him like a 1920's orphan selling newspapers and asked for a photo. Him and Chuck were both so nice. The best part was all the people waiting for arnold to make his rounds that were asking me who he and Chuck were. Don seemed like he didn't wanted to get mobbed, so I said he was my dad. If you read this, don...thank you. Your's is the only celeb pic I brag about. It meant a lot to me.

Legit hardman. You wouldnt have wanted a bar fight in the 80s with this man. Could probably still kick the average guys ass now lol
Probably?
No doubt
Dude the Stache was so intimidating. He just looked tough. Even today he looks tough, because he is. Guy is straight up made of nails. When he beat the Tank I was like “he cannot be stopped, this man cannot be be stopped.”
He's looking alot healthier.
Naw
not having to constantly juice up for Pride FC will do that to you

Good to see your doing well JR, God bless you.... happy Thanksgiving old friend..

I remember yelling a nice loud “Holy s***” when I saw him in Public Enemies. He played one of the agents from the west to help pursue John Dillinger.
I actually gasped aloud when Don showed up in Godzilla: Final Wars, and he had a big role. His acting was crap, but so what? It was great.
Yup
wat an epic fuckin movie
Shit I didn’t know he was an actor
Don Frye is a legend. It’s awesome you had him on. Thanks VLAD. Much respect to The Predator. 👍🏽✌🏽
Hell yeah, I love this! Keep the interviews from fighters coming.
Don Fry I salute you. I always thought you were a tough guy, a honest guy, but above all else you have always been a class act in such a tough sport where class is the last thing that any fighter would care about. Thank you for entertaining us throughout the years with your skills and dedication in such style.
Don frye. The mma Tom Selleck lol

I didn’t know that about the Shamrock fight, but it all kinda makes sense to me now. Havin’ a Bud right now for you Don, cheers.
Don Frye Seems Like A Good & Honest & Funny Guy . All His Fights Are Still Enjoyable While Many Modern Fights I Don't Care At All About . *GREAT CONTENT*

Look at his head and chin. One of the guys you cant knock out easy... absolute legend, i loved to see hin fight.

I was just thinking about that when I ran across this comment!
What a charismatic man. Don Frye was undoubtedly one the toughest fighters in MMA. I like him a lot, one of my favorites of all times.
My favorite fighter in the day. His fight with Shamrock was an epic of epics. He's right, neither one of them were ever the same.
Such a polite and friendly guy. Laughs easy. Has a pretty remarkable memory too considering what he did for so many years.
Man it’s good to see Don Frye !
Don is like the MMA Yosemite Sam. He’s so cool.

Never heard of him but i could listen to him for an hour or more easy. Please someone help this legend get a podcast! I will be among the first to support him if so
Vlad said “floor work” instead of ground game 😂
Like he's is the cleaning business 😂😂
"Ground game" used to be referred to as "floor work", especially in Pancrase, RINGS and Shooto. Indicative of Vlad not being a casual...
Just a great Man.
If Santa Claus is a super sayin...this muthafucka is Goku.
Probably the fucking baddest dude to ever walk the earth. Long live Don Frye
Don looks 5-10 years older than Shamrock but shamrock is 2 years older than Frye.
It's the beard, plus I bet my ass Shamrock has had a couple of surgeries
Because Shamrock is full of HGH and TRT
@Rome O Still doesn't take away the fact that he's full of HGH and TRT
Favorite old school mma guy no doubt.

Absolutely there’s “fixing” in the UFC, Boxing, and many professional entertainment events. It’s about the money. Sometimes fixing is necessary to protect higher paying fighter reps for future fan interests and ticket sales ;).
I'm just waiting to hear about how he challenged hulk hogan for the championship
"OOOO YEAH BROTHER"
