    Goddamnit, I wish I would have had this when I was 14 years old and reading Spawn back in the mid 90's. What a resource. So cool Todd.

    The pecs are the chest muscles. The ones you were talking about are the the lats/latissimus dorsi.😉👍

      Yup yup and the "love muscles" are commonly called "love handles", the obliques.

    Why does he call love handles, "love muscles"? And I think he confused what the pecs are.

      pectorals are chest lats inner back

    • @fredgerd5811

      True, but still a great video considering he did the whole thing unscripted in 6 minutes without edits.

    • @RubbinRobbin
      @RubbinRobbin 6 років тому +2

      +MadAirsofterMatt , that is incorrect, the pectorals are 4 muscles consisting of the pectoralis major and minor, the serratus anterior, and the subclavius.

    I never understood how comic book artists...... more modern day-ish artists at least, think that there is prominent rib cage bone showing in a muscular physique. First off, the rib cage really isn't defined in any muscular person, even pro bodybuilders. Second, the rib cage ends RIGHT UNDER the pecs, there isn't much of a gap like he displays here. Third, I have yet to see or meet a person who has "W" shaped ribs. IF you see the outline of the ribcage in an athlete/bodybuilder (or yourself if you're in shape.... which there is no reason not to be IMO but that's a different discussion) you'll just see the outline of the ridge of the ribcage which is more of an inverted "U" shape that has the sides flare out and end where your obliques and lats start to protrude. Fourth, and finally, the ONLY time you would see this outline of the bottom of the rib cage, this ridge so to speak, would be when you are arching your back , trying to lengthen your torso out as much as possible while sucking in your gut simultaneously. I mean just feel your own body for fucks sake. How he is drawing the ribcage doesn't exist. And if you've got muscle mass you have enough muscle to the point you DON'T see the ribcage at all..... you know..... because you have muscles over it. I think comic book artists confuse the Serratus Anterior muscles as being the ribs in muscular physiques. These are the muscles that start under your armpit and run diagonally downward toward the underside of your pec and toward your abs. BUT, you generally only see these in the VERY elite of fitness/bodybuilding athletes. Your BF% has to be under 10% in order to see these things clearly. As for your abs..... they start pretty much right underneath your pecs. There is a small gap in there, but it is very small. I mean look at this pic of easily the most notable bodybuilder ever, Arnold. originmedia0.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Jun/arnold-schwarzenegger-the-man-who-was-never-just-a-bodybuilder-800-2-1496389303.jpg
    Do you see ANY ribs or outline of a rib cage on this guy? Those "bumps" flaring off the sides of his abs and going toward his back and lats..... those are the Serratus muscles..... MUSCLES. Notice how "not prominent" they are though, and also notice you only see them because his arms are raised. As for Arnold's abs, look where they start...... under his chest. Also notice how there is NO RIB CAGE ridge showing. Only dudes you'd see their ribcage in are scrawny little dudes.
    What's my point...... DON'T DRAW A RIBCAGE on your comic book drawings. Unless of course your hero's super human ability is to be as skinny as a twig....... maybe his ability is he can fit into tight places.... or go without food for months if not years at a time, haha. Because that's the only way you'd see your ribs. If you had a lack of muscle mass over the top of them.
    If you want to draw comic book heroes your best bet is to just look at a ton of pictures of bodybuilders. You'd be better off. Not saying Todd is a bum, but I wouldn't draw a superhero torso like this. Or even a figure drawing like this. If you want another dude to look at for an "ideal physique" to model a drawing, Mike O'hearn is solid physique in the fitness world. Can't go wrong with the godfather of muscle proportion, Steve Reeves, as well.

      and skulls do not have eyebrow muscles to look angry or if you look at a boxing match I'm pretty sure people do not fly away when they get hit, in real life people wearing the capes look very stupid not solemn nor majestic as comic books portray their heroes. Do you see it? in comics the dramatic visual effect is much more important than the accuracy of the anatomy.
      Why does the comic artist draw a very prominent rib cage? because that makes the characters look more elegant and powerful even if that is not anatomically accurate and this kind of exaggeration goes on and on. Like very small heads, gigantic hands and feet fit well into bulky characters like hulk and do not even make me start with the woman, there is a lot of inaccurate anatomy in comic book heroines.
      But guess what? doesn't matter, as long as the characters meet the goal of looking amazing.

      Arnolds serratus doesn't show that much because it's in a relaxed state, the serratus anterior can be flexed if arms are down-forward or if it's worked on more it can grow bigger like any other muscle with enough work, such as for comic superheroes

      doseofreality100 because comics. It's not supposed to be accurate otherwise they'd hire people take their pictures then make that into a comic book
