I would argue they would be more omnivorous, considering their massive size they would require multiple sources of food in order to have enough energy to continue functioning. Godzilla often eat fish and plants sort of like a bear. I feel like they would just be like oversize bears in ecology.

i would think they originated as some form of dinosauromorph rather than a true dinosaur like silesaurids or teleocrater if were pushing it heavily derived. something in the formations they've been found in mustve pushed them to such traits, ESPECIALLY if they were actually mainly herbivorous the plains godzillasaurus seems to be the most plausible species, atleast in my eyes due to confirmed herbivory although they likely would be extinct due to competition or not enough sustainable resources unless they were very adaptable

Personal Idea: Maybe the gills originated from fleshy flaps(think like a dewlap but on the side of the neck) that has extremely thin and vascular skin. This allows gas diffusion so maybe over time only one side of the flaps(facing the neck) has the “exposed” blood vessels while the other side is akin to an operculum… That’s just my take on a form of gills on a reptile
Would be funny if these guys developed a taste for megaprimatus kongs somewhere down the line. Like, them preying on kong or Anguris like how Drake preys on teens would be so on brand
the dorsal plates could be ostiderms that evolved into dorsal plates and the primative gills could be from a skin flap (would be funny if we gave it minus one regenration thta could regenarate a nuke but thats not very realistic) also the breath could be boiled water this is just an idea

I like the idea that the aquatic lifestyle made Godzilla short-legged and that is why he has a tripod stance (like some depictions of Spinosaurus). But for me a Gojirasaurus would have to be of average size, up to 12 meters, to be able to stand out of the water. Possibly they survived the extinction because their ancestors from 66 million years ago were small (not bigger than 4 kilograms) and after the catastrophe and without the marine reptiles in between, they continued to grow into larger forms until they became the actual Gojirasaurus. By the way, Zilla could be part of this branch.

So when paleontologists discovered the fossil remains of a large Theropod trex like dinosaur I believe on a small island or something like that, it was given the name Gojirasaurus due to how big it was for the particular area or time period. I forget which. So to save everyone some confusion I just went with the English name of Gojira, Godzilla.

@user-ev9gy1ni6u No, because, yes, the 1998 film used modern Lizards to become Godzilla. So there is no need to do a species analysis for modern reptiles. However, I will be doing an analysis video over my OC kaiju who is also a modern day reptile. But that will be at a later date.

@grandgojira5485 yes, the 1990s were, but that is the real name of Godzilla in Japanese. Gojira. So when paleontologists discovered the fossil remains of a large Theropod trex like dinosaur I believe on a small island or something like that, it was given the name Gojirasaurus due to how big it was for the particular area or time period. I forget which. So to save everyone some confusion I just went with the English name of Gojira, Godzilla.
