I lived in Chicago for a year and a half it was quite the experience I did like going down lake shore drive And going to Lake Michigan and downtown during Saint Patrick's day turning the river green that was stupid crowded but fun
The Blues Brothers was so much more than a movie. It was a showcase for some of the absolute best talent in the blues/funk/R&B world at the time. Not even mentioning the guest appearances in the movie, this band itself is a masterclass. Willie Hall on drums, Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Steve Cropper on guitars, Duck Dunn on bass, Lou Marini on saxophone, Tom Malone on trombone, Alan Rubin on trumpet, and George "Murphy" Dunne on keyboards. Beasts, all of them!

Hadn't seen it in a while, so I kicked back tonite and laughed my ass off!!! Great movie!! As I age I am really starting to appreciate more these classics....as well as their soundtracks. THIS is music!!👍👍
The only reason Mom and I went to see this film was it was over 100 degrees that evening and the apartment was not air-conditioned but the theater was. Then it turned out to be absolutely delightful.
I was fortunate to see Sam and Dave in Indianapolis many years ago (80s). We danced our posteriors off. Sam and Dave took the time to say thank you to the Blues Brothers for bringing their music back.
Elwood Blues (Dan Akroyd) hosted a Radio Show radio 📻 titled The House of Blues. I love the way Blues Music pioneered Rock and Roll. Carl Perkins had a Blues Style Sound to his Rock and Roll/Country style sound which he is credited for coming up with the Rockabilly Sound. ZZ Top is a good group that likes to mix Blues in their Classic Rock Sound. Their hit La Grange is a very good example.
John Belushi was a good enough Blues singer to have done it professionally. He had a perfect voice for it, and the material they chose to cover was just brilliant and showed a deep knowledge of Blues and R&B. What began as a comedy wound up being one of the most important musical documents of the 20th Century!
there are of course better, rosolino, fontana , watrous and many many others. having said that, all musicians KNOW that TOM BONES MALONE did honor to the world many times including sweet home chicago. a real class act.
I can't help but wonder what some of the great Swing Band artists of the 1940's would have thought of this arrangement. It's not swing, not quite blues, not quite boogie-woogie, but there's a compelling beat to it that's hard to ignore. The way each instrument is featured throughout the nearly eight-minute-long song rivals even that of Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing." This is a great driving song.
This is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best films i have ever seen. Great cast, Amazing music and that it makes you laugh your head off, still watch it over 35 years after i saw it for the first time.

Such a shame when John left us because he was so talented and just beginning to shine. Him and Dan would have definately made more films together. RIP to a legend one of a kind man. One of my favorite films of all time. I remember seeing it at the drive inn when I was a kid.
