    I love this! We have a cute little crabapple tree in our front yard, and the past couple of years, we've been using the fruit to make jam. It takes a couple extra steps because we pick the fruit and clean it ourselves, but it is so worth it!

    If you wanna make this healthier:
    - sub sugar for a sweetner like erithritol or stevia
    - add chia seeds - this will give it a thick jam texture

    Will have to try this. I think we will all have learned to do more with what we have thru all of this. From making our own bread, to making things stretch a little farther and making do with what we have, it's definitely good practices to continue with.
    At another house, we had Concord grapes and I would make grape butter, very similar method to what you did, except for having to strain the seeds and skin. I loved giving a jar to family members at Christmas along with other baked goodies.

    Using a juicer for the lemon makes it easier and you get the pulp, the kind that's got a ribbed place to turn the lemon on and juice it

    Rubbing your jars with olive oil will also easily remove adhesive. Very effective!

    Here's a tip for tying something by yourself. If you loop 2 times before your initial tightening, it will hold itself together. Then do your second knot as normal to make your square knot. I hope that makes sense.

    TIP : Just immerse jam jars into a basin of cold water overnight to soften labels.
    That way it helps to save the planet by not wasting precious electricity on boiling away labels that will come away easily soaked in cold water. Just do it the night before you wish to use them and if the sticky won't come off use a little baby oil.
    NO NEED TO BOIL

    you don't have put them in the oven just add boiling hot water in the jar , and cookin the jam is clean enough since is boiled for the jars. The funnel is just a great idea. and only 2 cups of sugar, I was concerned with other videos they put a lot of sugar, this is so simple. Those French Jam jars the red checked lids are so beautiful typical traditional .

    Super yum! But how do you eat stuff like this and not have it impact your R/A? Sugar is a huge inflammatory factor in that.

      Diet has never effected my arthritis, the only thing that does is weather. I don't eat a lot of sugar and something like this I only use a couple tsps on toast so there's not much sugar in it at all!

    Much to watery for me, looks messy to "spread". you need to cook the jam on a rolling boil, no need to add chia seeds, just boil it to reduce the sauce and so the fruit can release its natural pectin.. its all about the chemistry when jam making, loving the cloth tops, but yeah just some advice for people out there, rolling boil for thick jam. You know jam is done when you can spoon a large amount and all of it stays on the spoon,
