Great channel! Keep it coming!
Thank you! Will do! New videos coming soon!
Brilliant video thanks well worth watching
Thanks I really appreciate it 👍
Professional! Cool music 🎶
Thanks 😊
Great vid... i remember back in the day you just put a belt on but now its always a kit with water pump... how times have changed. Guess it was a dealer thing that started to ramp the repair bills up.
You have to do everything he is doing to change the water pump, they don't recommend re-using the cambelt unless it's fairly new, so it makes sense to replace both while the engine is stripped down, even though the water pump may well last year's longer, it used to be the case they leaked from the bearing seal rather than broke so would be used for much longer.
It’s all about the money nowdays the stealers what it all lol 😂
Nice video.. just had mine changed on a Tt tdi quattro. Always think it’s daunting but it you follow basic steps it doesn’t seem that bad. Interested if you need to torque up any of the nuts as you go !
Thanks it’s not a bad job to do and every thing has a torque setting, all info is on auto data
lovely job sweet
Thank you! Cheers!
great more helpful then the others, does the diesel pump have timing marks, my belt just snapped on idle so gonna give a try an replace everything an see what happens hopefully get lucky
The fuel pump just lines up in one position with the locking tool, good luck I hope it goes well 👍
Good video, better without the music. 👍🏻
Thank you , I’m new to all this so never know if or what music to add, some people say I need music and some say I don’t lol 😂
Great video thanks. I watched another video where they loosened the cam and fuel pump pulleys to allpw them to move when th le tensioner is tensioned. Do you think this is unnecessary?
If you have the capabilities to undo them then it will make install easier, I would refer to something like auto data for procedures 👍
Hi. great tutorial. Can you tell me what model years this covers?
On the Skoda it covers 2015-2018 but the engine is in many different cars so may apply to other vehicle years too hope that helps 👍
🖤
Thanks ☺️
VW recommended replacing at 130k miles so I did. Thinking about going longer next time. The kit parts looked the same as I installed. I drive it 5k miles a month
The timing belt is something I would change more often not less often, if 130k is recommended then stick with that I’d say👍
What is the average lifespan of the turbo on this engine? Many thanks
As long as you keep up with the regular servicing and the car is thrashed too hard no reason it shouldn’t last a very long time !
You are just super lucky then! 😅😅 my SuperB is in service due to premature failure of water pump… going to change all the set with belt and tensioners anyway. It is a very common chronic problem in VW engines to fail the water pump…mine has 93k km… I even heard about the failures at around 65k km. Not the timing belt but water pump. But since the work to change a water pump is expensive, people mostly renew everything in there.
How coincidental, the water pump just started leaking today at 211,578 mile. I have an appointment next week to replace it along with the cam belt kit. What brand of parts are the best? Dissatisfied about only having 82000 miles on this kit which was supposed to be OEM quality..
Great helpful video. How long does it take to do?
Thanks 😊 and depends on how competent you are really but book time is 3.2 hours to complete the main work. Hope that helps
Thank you. I should perhaps double that as I don't have a ramp.@@MrAutoFixer
@cliffg4975 you will be fine you don’t need a ramp to do it just a couple of axle stands and a trolley Jack!
Hey! This is a great demo of this issue 👍🏼 Can I pick your brain about my car that requires this 😩 I have a 2019 vw 1.6L diesel polo that has done 55k miles and VW has advised requires water pump and Cambelt replacement isn’t that premature to have to replace all that at 55k? The car is driving ok took it in due to a fluctuating temp gauge
Any input would be much appreciated 👍🏼
Hi 👋 I think 5 years or 80k what ever comes first is the normal for these. If you have a cooling issue they may be wanting to change the water pump to rule that out and as it’s close to the 5 year mark I would have it all changed. Hope that makes sense. Thanks
@@MrAutoFixer yes that’s v helpful 👍🏼 and thanks for the prompt response too
@SV-xq6sq no prob just glad to help 👍
hello. its same engine for vw sharan 2020? I’m planning to replace my T belt set. thanks
Hi I wouldn’t know with out checking? Does your engine look the same as the one I done ?
I see nice BMW behind
Thanks ☺️
my timing belt due soon enough what are your thoughts on changing timing belt tensioner stud ? it come in kit
Hi if it comes in the kit then yes change it, as long as the other one come out easy shouldn’t be a problem 👍
@@MrAutoFixer think that problem why people avoid changing them might put tread as well
Yes that’s right, all you can do is try if it don’t come straight out then leave it !
You know of course that these euro 6's use different timing tools on the crank..but as long as 2of them are lined up..the third one should align too..😂😂
Yh it’s all good runs like a dream
Hi, could you tell me how many hours usually need for a timing belt change?
Hey 👋 normally I would allow at least 2 hours to get this done but I think the book time is about 4 hours ish 👍
Great vid.
What’s a fair price to swap an Audi 1.6 TDI belt would you say?
Hey this job was £400 all in 👍
Good value. Been quoted 7+😅. Is it an identical job to A3 TDI?
Yh prices will vary a lot! I’m always on the cheap side as I’m still building my business 👍
And yes I would imagine it’s very similar if not the same.
Thanks. Useful info.
Would a 2.0 tdi pd version be easier to change?
Hi 👋 they are all fairly similar, would need to know what car? What engine code? Is it a 8v or 16v etc but generally they all are ok to do.
@@MrAutoFixer golf bkd
The bkd is a nice easy one to do it’s 16v so will have 2 cam sprockets with 13mm bolts that you can undo when the timing tools are in position to help the new belt go on and to tension it up correctly, but please do watch a few videos on here there are many good ones that show you step by step. Also always change the water pump while your in there! Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😁
whats the realistic labour time on the 2018 2.0tdi?
So most garages use the book time for the pricing so would need your reg to look it it and tell you an exact time, but depends who does the job but realistically it will be about 4 hours 👍
@@MrAutoFixer thank you, i actually work for iveco so i live by book times 🤣.
@sallytackley4206 hahah don’t miss that life ! Glad I finally got out on my own. 👍
how often should it be changed on a seat leon 2.0 tdi?
I would recommend looking in your hand book for the correct info
would you say timing chains are better then cambelts in your opinion?
All depends on the engine and the build quality, as long as the scheduled service is carried out you don’t normally get any problem with either unless it’s a known problem. What is your opinion?
@@MrAutoFixer was just wondering because cambelt snapped in my focus never knew about timing chains until i did research
@user-cn1em2qx6f sorry to hear you had to find out the hard way, if you buy a car and there is no history of the belt or chain being done you should always seek advice and potentially have it changed just for piece of mind
What are the signs of these part failures?
Well, a leaking water pump or noisy bearings from the tensioner or idler pulleys could be a sign, if I was questioning if it’s bad I would just have it changed for price of mind that’s it’s 👍
Remeň olejoveho cerpadla? Preco nemenite?
Customer didn’t what it changed at that time
Which kit? INA, contitec or Dayco?
Hi we used the INA kit 👍
You didn't change the studs that the idler and tensioner go onto. These should have come with the new parts.
A lot of kits come up short with new bolts or even some parts.
I just got what I had supplied on that one
That's why I pony up and pay the £600 to get this done like I did last year.I could do it but miss one thing the engine toast.
Them water pump shit change meny for over heating
@@chrismills9346 I made sure they fitted genuine VW OEM part because I know of issues wasn't going to chance a euro part or gsf special.
True! One wrong move can cause big issues!
What kit did you use
Hey 👋 it was an SCHAEFFLER INA kit.
@@MrAutoFixer do you recommend ina
Do their own water pumps last till next change interval
Yh INA kits are good never had a problem with them.
@@MrAutoFixer so nevet had an issue with leaking water pump, lasted the full 5 years or 80k miles
I can’t say for certain as most people don’t keep a car 5 years or 80k nowadays , but so far no leaky ones👌
Camera is to far can't see it
Oh ever so sorry, was there something I’m particular you needed to know ? 👌
